Must-have content for learning Spanish

I've been using DreamingSpanish for years as a source of content for learning Spanish. There are plenty of videos for levels from A1 to B2, and most of them are free.

To be fair, the first videos, posted almost 10 years ago, were a bit rough (there were useful, but not always very enjoyable). But a couple of years ago, major changes were made. First, content creators were introduced from all over the world. This helps being exposed to all kinds of different accents and cultures, and of course creators have their unique personality, which increases the chance of finding someone we like to watch. Also, they introduced themed series, which helps focusing on content we enjoy, because let's face it, we all have our preferences. To my mind, these two changes alone transformed DreamingSpanish from a "I can use that" to a "I must have that" tool in my Spanish learning toolkit.

Another thing I like, is that nobody is trying to sell you a miracle product that will get you "fluent in 2 weeks" or whatever BS. Right off the bat, they tell that you'll need at least a couple of hundreds of hours just to be able to have a moderate understanding of the language. And that's not because the method is inefficient, it's because it takes time for our brains to gather sufficient input and convert it into acquisition.

Their only promise is that with sufficient input we will acquire the language, and, unlike traditional learning methods, DreamingSpanish allows to do it effortlessly and with enjoyable content (goodbye boring grammar drills).

The one drawback is that DS is a much better tool for improving comprehension than expression - in other words, it is excellent for input and not so great for output. If I wanted to nitpick, I'd also say that the 'advanced' content is limited to B2 and then we're left alone once reaching C1+. To be fair, a learner who is already at C1 or C2 should simply enjoy real-world content anyway. Once I'll be ready to watch TV series and broadcast and whatnot, I'll probably just watch these.

These drawbacks don't change the fact that DS is an incredible resource for receiving input in the native language.

And the best part of it, your mother tongue does not even matter. Except for the occasional introduction that speaks in English, the vast majority (at least 98% of content) is pure Spanish that even a non-English speaker can understand and enjoy!
