Terrible customer service, broken goods.

My daughter took a year off from university, so we stored some of her belongings with Door2Door Student Storage. Quite pricey, but their offering looked good on paper. Unfortunately, communication was poor right from the start — the collection process was chaotic, and the timing didn’t match what we were told.

The real issue came when her items were redelivered. Most of the boxes were damaged, and several items inside were broken. I’ve asked for an explanation and compensation, but the email responses I received were dismissive and unhelpful.

Considering the high prices, I expected much better service and accountability. Paying £23 a month just to have a few boxes come back bashed — not happy at all.

International student from Durham to London

This company started off by giving me a very good experience in July. They came on time on July 11, when they said they would, and collected and delivered my boxes to the storage unit with no problem. The delivery price to the storage unit was fine (iirc about £150++ from Durham to Bristol), and so were the storage prices per month (£95 per month for 16 boxes). The terrible experience only came about when I was set to return in September. First of all, when I requested them to redeliver my boxes from Bristol to London, they sent me an invoice of £800 for redelivery which absolutely blew my mind because delivery from Durham to London was less than £200 and the distance between Durham and London is much more than the distance between Bristol and London. Second of all, when I tried to contact them, no one would reply. All the manager said was that he would refer me to the finance team, but I waited nearly the entire day and nobody from the finance team contacted me. I ended up having to call his phone number multiple times (which he never picked up and instead asked me to text him instead), and when I texted to ask if I could just send my own moving company to pick up my boxes for me as that would be a more affordable option, I received no reply. I contacted the finance team myself (after a recommendation during a lovely chat with the receptionist at the storage place who gave me more answers than the actual employees at Door2Door), and they got back to me about the next morning saying that they could help me redeliver my boxes for £300 instead. Why wouldn't they just tell me that first instead of instantly charging me £800? All I inferred from that was they were trying to scam me out of my money because they knew I needed to rely on their services.

Third of all, when my boxes were redelivered from my own moving company (which was so much cheaper than what they offered), they came back ruined. Some of my stuff were falling out of the boxes because they were so smooshed – that's how terrible the condition of the boxes were when they returned to me. After only 2 months of storage. There was no way it would be my moving company as they only had it for a couple hours. It had me furious. And worst of all, they didn't send one of my boxes! They forgot to give my moving company one of my boxes! Granted, they did contact me a day or two after and offered to redeliver that one box to me free of charge, so I will give them a point for that, but that box came back ruined as well. I was livid. The manager had the time to contact me about my missing box but didn't have the time to reply my emails when I queried him about the ridiculous £800 invoice they sent me. Never using Door2Door again, and if you're smart, you wouldn't either.

As an international student in Cardiff...

DHL is the worst company this company could collab with . First of all when dhl was supposed to collect my boxes they lied 3 times saying nobody was at the residence when me and rhe receptionist were there for hours . Now i was supposed to have 5 boxes redelivered to my residence and only got 4 that seem beaten up. When contacting Dhl they told me the company (door2door) only gave them 4!!!! i lost a whole box of my belongings and since door2door doesn't have a phone number i have sent a lot of emails about this for like 2 days YET no response at all !! Their site says they reply fast but now that there is no live chat as well ( the only good thing that they took out ) u can only contact them by email which mine goes unanswered for days .... the stress these companies gave me are so not worth it ! would not recommend:((

This company lost valuable items last September and it has been an ongoing battle with them take responsibility.From pick up to return of items was dreadful and so stressful.No direct telephone number so everything is through email, delivery drivers are so rude.If I could give no stars I would

I have mistakenly order for collection on a wrong say but door 2 door is still being extremely helpful to squeeze a day forward in their tight schedule. I am really appreciate for the team in door 2 door!

They have awful customer service

They have awful customer service, extremely negligent, and charge you even after you’ve already paid. Upon re delivery my crockery came back broken and one of my boxes looked like it had been opened and when you try to file a complaint they don’t even respond to you. They don’t have a number anywhere on their website and overall behave like they’re operating a scam. Beware of them. I’d advise you to use other storage companies and not to waste your time and money here.

The additional charges you refer to were made for the cost of re-delivering your items at the end of the storage period. This additional charge made at the end of the storage period was highlighted by several students last year and so for 2025 our price now includes all redelivery charges.

We do understand your frustration regarding the damaged crockery and the condition of your box. We take great care in handling all items, but unfortunately, these types of items are inherently susceptible to damage during transit.

As you are aware, we are unable to provide coverage for fragile items, including crockery. We do highlight this on our website and recommend that you always take out your own personal insurance for items such as these.

This advice is also recommended by most other student storage providers.

We are an online service. So, to maintain efficiency and to ensure that we have an accurate record of all contacts with students, we always communicate online. We do, however, strive to respond to all inquiries promptly via email and our online contact form.

Your items were redelivered on 23 Oct 2024, and we received your complaint on 2 Apr 2025. This significant delay meant we were unaware of any issues until recently.

We understand your disappointment, and we value your feedback. We are committed to improving our services and will take your comments into consideration for future operations. We encourage you to provide us with any further details regarding your claim via email so we can review the situation more thoroughly.

Very good service, would use them again!

Very good service! This is my second year using Door2Door student storage. Both times they were very good! The team that picked up my items and dropped them off were lovely and friendly. All my items came back safely. Would use them again!

Friendly and Helpful Staff

My experience with Door2Door Student Storage was great! Their customer service team are easy to talk to and made booking my storage easy. From booking to delivery confirmation, their communication is always prompt and clear. All my questions were answered quickly and they were happy to answer any of my questions. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!!

It has been now 3 months since I received my stuff and I still have not received a refund for almost 200 pounds worth of kitchen utensils that were delivered broken on my doorstep (this is after being late by a week and a bit to deliver the boxes back to me). I have emailed countless times as a reminder and they keep on saying "we have forwarded it to the claims department" but it seems like nothing is getting done. I am an international student and don't have the kind of money to be losing 200 pounds worth of stuff.

I am very satisfied so far. The collection was completed on time as expected, and I really appreciate their excellent communication. They keep customers well-informed by sending emails with specific time slots, which makes the process very convenient. Overall, a reliable and professional service.

Absolutely rubbish

Absolutely rubbish. Split my 11 items into several shipping numbers (which some have the same number) which caused DHL delays and hard to track my items. It took more than a month to have 10 items back and 1 suitcase (sharp green colour) is still missing. Claimed to call/contact DHL for an update but no response. Terrible experience.

Never EVER Use Them!!

Never use them. I spent weeks without any of my stuff because they were “too busy” to deliver. After literally 3 weeks without any kitchen tools or even bedding, I received my redelivery with some bags ripped and then taped up horribly.
I then look through all of my stuff and realize i’m missing several items totaling up to over £200. Over the past few months i’ve sent countless emails about it and nobody is doing anything to replace it or even explain how my shit could’ve been lost, they literally just don’t answer. Then you can’t even call them because they don’t put their number up anywhere nor do they provide it when you ask SEVERAL times. It’s weird and scammy as hell. They are completely unprofessional and careless. Don’t bother using them!!

Absolutely rubbish

Absolutely rubbish - extremely difficult to communicate with someone of the company throughout the entire process and if something goes wrong which happened in our case they just walk away and blame others. Damaged goods are not being replaced nor do they try to live up to their statements. We used this company once and definitely will not use them in future ever again nor can we recommend them based on our experience.

WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE
They said that this was a student-friendly option for international students ... they were lying. I got 4 boxes and one suitcase, and that was pretty expensive. However, their site said that delivery was included in the final price so I reckoned the price was pretty fair. About a month after they'd picked up my stuff, I got a £50 invoice because apparently one of my boxes was 'too' heavy. I could close my eyes to that, but then two weeks before my stuff was re-delivered, I got another £30 invoice for re-delivery that I had to pay immediately (which I'm pretty sure was a scam). So much for 'student-friendly'. Not only that, but then they were late re-delivering all packages by a week, sent me no apology email at all, and my stuff arrived all beaten up. If I could, I would put zero stars.

Great service!

First time using a service like this, customer service was excellent all the way through. Boxes were picked up without any hassle, and the redelivery driver was very helpful. All my items are in order, overall very happy and would recommend to others. Well worth the price.

Caring Family Business

They never disappoint with their attentive service from delivering the empty boxes to you and returning them after storage. Personalised delivery and pick-up times make my move-ins and move-outs as seamless as possible by their in-house team. I definitely recommend Door2Door Storage having Used Door2Door Student Storage for three consecutive years in Bath.

good services, but not a huge fan of the re-delivery fee. Especially with it being double the delivery fee. Would have preferred if this was made known to me when it was suggested as an option over the phone. Otherwise, they pick up, store and re deliver your stuff. What more could you ask for?
