Alyx is very personable and knowledgeable about dog behaviors. Her suggestions are direct and she was able to watch us with Maggie as we went through some training tips. We were extremely pleased that we understood her directions and are looking forward to our next meeting with her.

I was guaranteed an in-home trainer. Unfortunately I was not happy with the experience and confidence of the trainer who arrived for our introduction visit. I called DogAcademy for another trainer and was told there was no other available trainers in my area of Venice, Fl. And that my only other option was to use a virtual trainer. Now.... for $1700.00 I should have had other options of trainers or be made aware she was the only one in Venice. Although I was able to cancel my subscription with DogAcademy I was charged $495.00 for the introduction visit with the trainer they sent. Please be very aware when signing up with this company that you ask if there are other trainers in your area to choose from if your not happy with the one they send. Buyer Beware!!!

This company sold me a harness for my dog with the writing peeling off. They forgot to put some letters on it. They sold me a course where I passed the exam perfectly and they don't want to give me the certificate because they are complaining about some poorly made videos, but the videos are very well made. It's also an insult to my dog who is truly an excellent Service Dog in life. We should work with heart and not treat customers like this. My daughter cries.

I learned a lot about the different types of training and what and where they allow a dog to do and go. It was very interesting learning the skills that the training gives the many different type of dogs allowed to train. I also thought the training videos were very helpful and clarified the best approach to train the dog each different skill.
The tests after each lesson were easy to understand and highlighted the importance of the different tasks.
The service dog training was obviously more challenging but most rewarding to the dog and me the trainer. The video test was a good way to show the skills the dog learned. However, some of the instructions were not clear. The video to show a dog entering and exiting a public transportation vehicle for the test was different when I was sending the video. The test video did not specify entering and exiting a public vehicle but any vehicle. That’s a difference and more challenging for public transportation. But I’m very satisfied with the training and the course. I get many comments and compliments on Apollos behavior everywhere we go.

The course we are pursuing, (meaning we are not successful yet) is psychiatric support animal. The course written work was completed successfully but the video submission has been a nightmare, completely inconsistent and reaching someone is awful!
One of the skills having your dog sit and stay, in a public place, for 30 seconds. The handler, (my husband) had our dog in Walgreens, in an aisle and because he stood up, did not walk, during the 30 seconds, they flunked him.
Another is resisting food. My dog did it beautifully in our driveway that is in a neighborhood but that is not public enough of a place therefore they flunked him. For the record, we live in a busy active place - very urban. Then when I asked if in the next video I should include the environment, they said, no... they can tell. Huh?
Lastly, taking our dog on a leash, healing into Staples was not sufficient enough.
I am determined to get through this as you pay 100's of dollars to get this but it has been an awful experience and I strongly encourage anyone to look elsewhere. It is absolutely awful.

The course was comprehensive including everything needed and was taught in a very easy to understand fashion.

This online course was more than I ever expected. The cost is reasonable compared to some of the in-person training and it offers great information, education, suggestions, the tools you need, and lets you go at your own pace when you're ready. I enjoyed reading all about the things that were very important for you and your dog to know which made so much sense to me. It was doable and achievable to follow the instructions and get the job done with my dog. Thank you for giving us this option to complete a course like this this way which makes it very convenient for some who have Financial burdens or other issues and reasons why it works for them.

Lady who called over the phone to set up training for me was very rude and not helpful. Made me not want to go through with the training. And then hung up on me.

First, when I called them they were very informative and patient with my questions and concerns.
Second, they were prompt in sending me the information and manual to read, study and review.
Third, the manual was not hard to understand. I also learned a lot.

In short this is the worst group of people I have ever encountered. They are dishonest and are only interested in money. Unprofessional trainers that are not qualified to manage anxiety in dogs. Rather than being honest with me they took an exorbitant amount of money from me and then told me after the fact that they were not equipped to train my dog because of her behavioral issues. LOOK ELSEWHERE ! The response I received from the company was so untrue. Therefore it requires an edit. I had issues with this company for months and this final incident put the nail in the coffin. They misrepresented themselves and the service they provided. Look at the website it states training rates between 75-130 per hour. When you buy a package as I foolishly did, the rates do not apply. I was charged 160.00 per hour. I just had another reputable trainer come to my home for an evaluation and the difference was night and day. Unfortunately, Dog Academy took 900.00 from me before I realized they were a scam and now my budget is comprised. Therefore I am in a financial deficit which only hurts the dog. Shame on you Dog Academy! Reality -I cannot afford the new qualified trainer because this company took what limited funding I have and now a new trainer will cost more than I can afford. Shame on this company!
