Scamming the older generation

Scamming the older generation. Cold called my father of 80 and completely scammed him. Have already taken £99 I’ve cancelled the DD but they keep trying to set a new one up and take a further £99. Spoke to someone and the company to say that this was a mistake as my Dad is in a home a doesn’t require their services, someone called me back to confirm they have cancelled the account yet more money is tried to be taken. My dad never received any alarm or wrist alarm from them. Absolute opportunist who happened to catch my Dad the day after he was discharged from hospital and said that the NHS team had recommended that he have the doctor alert!!! Do not use
Update March 2025
Even though DD is cancelled every 3 days they are now trying to take £99 from my Dads account!! We have now closed bank account and moved to different bank.

Obvious scam

Obvious scam. Cold call saying I had been "recommended" by the NHS for an device that will alert "folk" if I have a fall, or as he put it, "a fall you have", just like Yoda! Hilarious. Anyway, played him along a while pretending to be a 96 year old woman. Soon as he hung up, I barred his number. Referred me to a website that doesn't exist. They are out there folks. Beware! These soulless men are prepared to steal money from any vulnerable pensioner. How do they sleep? They don't believe in God, Krishna maybe but either way they are going straight to hell.

It's a scam

It's a scam. Company cold called my elderly relative, who already had a call alarm. We returned their product and asked for a refund (if it happens to you use registered delivery as they will otherwise deny receiving the return). Weeks attempting to get a refund. Lies, etc. Eventually referred to bank as a fraud claim. Don't touch them.

Scamming the elderly - warning

Have had the same problem as the other posters. They had called my father who has dementia and sold him a device when he already has one (he doesn't use!) from Careline. I only found out when seeing the direct debit on his account. Called them to cancel and get a refund and the "sales" person was so slow to deal with. He has raised a ticket no for customer service to call me back but I shall not be holding my breath.

-1 Scamming the old and vulnerable

-10 itsca scam.

Persuaded my dad into an alert bracelet even though he has one through our local authority, letting him believe it was an upgrade from his existing supplier.

Failed to refund the money.

A disgrace.

Dishonest company targetting elderly people

I have had a similar experience to the previous reviewer's Aunt.

I noticed a withdrawal of £99 from my bank account in February for "Digitex Global Ltd" (who sell alarms under the name Doctor Alert). There was also a bank subscription set up.

My nephew called Doctor Alert, who claimed they had spoken to me and I had agreed to receive an alarm. I have no recollection of this.

The alarm did arrive, which I returned. Actually getting them to give return details took 4 phone calls, with them repeatedly giving excuses why they could not give return details over the phone.

However, even after 2 further phone calls from my nephew chasing the refund, I have received no refund. They have acknowledged receipt of the alarm, and promise each time that a refund will be within "7-10" days. But no refund has been given.

I am in poor health, and this behaviour from such a dishonest company is very distressing.

On 22nd February my elderly aunt was called by Doctor Alert - she is registered with call preference so should not have been called - they persuaded her to subscribe to their service which she doe not need as she has a similar service already - I contacted the company the same day and cancelled the order As she had given her card details we cancelled the card - On 13th March I noticed a direct debit had been set up in her account for £99 - I cancelled this Direct debit - On 3rd April the direct debit was set up again with a different reference number - I have cancelled this - No correspondence or goods have been sent to my aunty - I believe this is a scam
