I rented a car in August in Valencia , it was damaged at all places , I insisted to have the damage noted on the rent form , there should be a reservation ( and nothing more ) for € 400 on my credit card , when there it was a draw from €800 (on my contract €400) , so we bargained to € 600 , when bringing back with a full tank ,I luckily kept the fuel ticket , the guy who checked it says ok , got the caution back after 10 days ..pff..
but not the fuel , so I contacted customer care , got direct reply , It appeared on a list I took it back empty ,( who stole the fuel?) luckily I could prove with the scanned ticket , got my money back - €34 service fee ?? , don't ever take this risk again , when standing there with your family they try to take all advantage of you that they can , young folks had to pay €1200 caution ...
Dickmanns er utroværdig -skjulte ekstra beløb
Jeg har i årene 2012, 13, 14 og 15 lejet bil hos Dickmanns i Alicante i forbindelse med 14 dages ferie hvert af årene. Min oplevelse i 2015 medfører imidlertid, at det også er sidste gang. I alle årene bestilte jeg og lejede en bil i prisgruppe CC og har i alle årene kørt skadesfrit i de 14 dage pr. år vi havde bilen.
Selve lejebeløbet fremgår af hjemmesiden og har været nogenlunde konstant i årene. det der imidlertid ikke fremgår af hjemmesiden er førerens ansvarsforsikring og kaskoforsikringen af bilen. Og der er her men bliver taget grundigt ved næsen.
I 2013 udgjorde den samlede forsikring eksklusive I.V.A. 53,72 euro, i 2014 70,00 euro, men i 2015 185, 95 euro.
I mit billede er det bondefangeri og et udtryk for at ville plukke billejerne. Ifølge de ansatte på kontoret var det en ledelsesbeslutning der ikke kunne diskuteres.
I årene 12, 13 og 14 fik jeg bilen med fuld tank og kunne aflevere den med tom tank. Det blev ændret i 15 til, at man selv afleverede bilen med fuld tankmen uden at jeg blev oplyst om det og fremgik heller ikke hjemmesiden.
Jeg kan ikke anbefale Dickmanns rent a car og vil miskreditere firmaet over for andre billejere.

During holiday periods of years 2012,13,14,and 15 I have rented cars at Dickmanns in Alicante each of the years. My experiences in 2015 cause that this will be the last time I do so. During all the years I booked and rented a car online in price group CC and have been using the cars in question without any kind of damages..
The rental fee itself is stated on the home page and has been fairly constant over the years. What does NOT appear on the home page are the third part insurance and the insurance covering loss of or damage to the car. Here one is being cheated grossly.
In 2013 the total insurance with the exception of I.V.A constituted. euros 53.72, in 2014 euros 70.00, but in 2015 euros 185.95 !
To my mind this a confidence trick of the worst kind and expresses the deliberate will to rip off those who are so unfortunate to rent a car from you. .According to the officials of the office this is a non-debatable and non- negotiable management decision.
During the years 12,13,14 I got the car with a full tank and could return it with an empty tank. This has been changed in 2015 so that you returned the car with a full tank. This procedure without informing me and without mention on the homepage.
IN NO WAY CAN I RECOMMEND DICKMANNS RENT A CAR AND I WILL USE ANY POSSIBLE OCCASION TO DISCREDIT YOUR FIRM.
Do Not Use Dickmanns
This is the worst car hire company I have ever come across. Gave me a car they knew to be damaged in a very dark area of the car park at midnight. Luckily I took photographs which were time stamped and location aware. They tried to charge me for the car after I returned immediately I noticed the damage... but luckily I have the photographs. They don't return the money for 28 days and charged a 1000 euro deposit. They were impolite and unprofessional in every way and are a cowboy company simply setup to fleece the tourist. Do not ever use this company as you will regret doing so. The worst experience I have ever had and I still have not received my deposit back and it's 20 days later. I also had a quarter of a tank of fuel and they are saying I returned it empty but again I have the photographs. I am ready to go into battle with the photographic evidence to chastise these cowboys.

They were very unfriendly, a nasty attitude and tried too make us pay an extra insurance that was´t necessary at all. They took extra fee for things they did´t informed us about and they will wait a month to pay back the deposition. Do never use this company! They are not serious!
Obscure price policy, hiding the true rental costs until it is too late
For our holiday in Spain we rented 2 cars at Dickmanns in Alicante via CarTrawler. - The total rental price for each of the 2 cars was 132,95 Euro.
When we were at Dickmanns, we were confronted with a big surprise: we were requested to pay upfront 105,- Euro for gasoline (40 liter fuel) and the amount would not be refundable when we return with a fully refuled car!!- Alternative: no car and the upfront payment of 132,50 is lost!
Explanation was that the excessive price of 105,- € for 40 liters of gasoline contained a "service charge" from Dickmanns
During the booking procedure via CarTrawler and also on the home page of Dickmanns this information was not availabe: neither the so called Service Charge, nor the strange policy of Dickmanns not allowing to return a refueled car.
If this information had been available, clearly other rental car companies would have been cheaper (e.g. SIXT).
The Personal of Dickmanns at Alicante was nice and helpfull. Clearly stressed by the poor working conditions they had and the other dissatisfied customers queing up.
Conclusion of our experience: Nice service personal , but a bad business strategy hiding the true rental costs instead of giving a clear price information. Never Again!
Dickmanns are liars, cheats and thieves. Beware.
When I collected the car, I was informed that they would reserve a deposit of 950 euros for excess insuramce and 80+ euros for petrol. They said it would not be debited and they would only take what was due on return. They lied. They debited my card for over 1000 euros on the day I collected the car.
When I returned the car and got back home I noticed that they had debited the card. I contacted them and asked them to refund the amount immediately. They said the policy was to refund only 25 days after return of the vehicle. The contract had stated (in very small print) that the refund would be made on return not 25 days later. They therefore held over 1000 euros of my money for over 35 days without permission. They cheated me out of the interest on this.
Finally, the contract was full/empty. They said they would charge an admin fee plus the cost of fuel used. They charged well in excess of the fuel used. They stole money for fuel I did not use.
The only plus point is that they didn't rip me off for non-existent damage like they have done with others.
They are thieves, cheats and liars. Do not do business with this company. There are plenty of other good companies to hire cars from.
Profiteering scamsters
The other reviewers appear to have got off lightly. They took €1700 insurance waiver their own website says 1500 for a large car. I don't consider a fiat dobro a large car. They seem to make up their own rules according to the weather.Also you have to bring vehicle back to exchange after 1500km are they having a laugh a return journey yo them is 100km. I was given this booking through Do You Spain my contact with them said €400 deposit so I can only presume this company are scamsters AVOID AVOID AVOID Shocking customer service they wouldn't get away with it in the Uk. Also had to pay a €2 a day premium for having a diesel vehicle my contract with Do You Spain says €1 a day doesn't sound a lot but on a 21 day hire that's an overcharge of €21 factor that in with credit card fees of them debiting a sterling bank credit card with €1700 and the fees associated with that I will be out of pocket nearly €100 extra.
Dickmanns Extortion - DoYouSpain Complicty?
I pre-booked and paid for a 13 day car rental with Dickmanns, Alicante Airport, through DoYouSpain, starting 6th June 2015. I have an annual insurance policy, which covers any excess for damage so don't require the exorbitant SCDW that the rental companies charge. On arriving at their desk at 10:30pm, I was told that I had to take their SCDW at a cost of 170 euros or they would charge (not block) my credit card 950 euros. They have a notice on their desk stating that refund of the charge "will be 20 days after the car is returned". For anyone with a non-euro credit card, that means there will be two non-sterling transaction fees charged, which in my case worked out at about 70 euros. They would not take the 950 euros deposit from my Spanish euro debit card, insisting it had to be paid on my UK credit card. Fortunately, I had the financial option of walking away and renting a car elsewhere - unlike the two customers behind me who both ended up taking Dickmanns SCDW unnecessarily as they both had their own insurance. Having read other reviews, I see that many customers, who paid the deposit, have not had it returned long after the 20 days. In my mind, this is criminal behaviour and should be stopped. I also have not heard from DoYouSpain since I complained to them 4 week's ago.
Dickmanns - a costly mistake!
Hired a car 9th to 20th May 2015 using doyouspain.com. Initial paperwork was for Record Rentacar but later that day paperwork changed to Dickmanns as Record had no cars available.
Picked up at Airport by Courtesy bus and taken to Dickmanns site. So far so good. Had a reasonable car which was fairly new and all was good.
The difference with Dickmanns if you don't take their insurance is that they physically take around 950€ immediately off your credit card as an accident waiver "just in case of an accident". I have my own annual insurance in the UK.
I returned the car on the 20th May and was told I would get my deposit back in 20 working days.
After this 20 days is where the problems start. I haven't had my deposit returned and although their system shows I am due 950€ plus 16€ unused fuel I still haven't had my money even after 30 working days.
There is one person who is efficient in answering my emails but is not in a position to return my money.
This is a warning to others that unlike the vast majority of car hire companies who just lodge the card as security, Dickmanns take the money. I have contacted doyouspain.com and my credit card company so we shall see what happens.
I do no trust Dickmanns and if they can get away with it for long enough they will be holding thousands, possibly hundreds of thousands of Euros.
Thread carefully and if you are offered a cheap car hire with them, remember it might cost you a lot, lot more than you think.
Be warned.
Perfect car, awful deposit return.
I hired a car for a week in Alicante airport through doyouspain.com Price was great and car was nearly brand new with low mileage. I did not picked insurance so I was charged 950€ as deposit. This means you will be charged in credit card, not blocked as most of the car hire companies do. My surprise is after one month, they have not returned this amount. In the rental location, they advise that return can take from 20 to 24 working days but they do not warn about this just when you arrive to the rental location. I have ring and email them and they tell they have process my refund but the money one month after is not with me. If you feel free with your money away for a month, definitely is the best value for money you will find. Otherwise, go to any other car hire.
The worst of the worst
I live in San Javier and because my car was in for repair I needed to rent a car for 1 day to go to Alicante hospital for an appointment. I booked a car online, paid the days rental and subsequently went to collect the car from Murcia airport. Their "mobile office" was a dirty old van which was unattended. I rang their number and was told that a representative of the company would be there shortly. After a lot of messing around I was told that I would need to go to their office in Los Narejos to collect the car. I arrived at the office and there was the same person I had seen in the airport car park. I had to leave a security deposit of 400 euros because I had my own excess insurance. I was then told that I would have to leave a "Fuel deposit" of 109 euros but would be refunded for unused fuel. When I returned the car the following day with 7/8 of a tank of fuel and no damage I was told that my deposits would be refunded within 20 working days. I took this up with the manager who was possibly the rudest woman I have ever met and was virtually threatened by her. I contacted my lawyer who called them 3 times and I finally got my refund more than 2 weeks after I hired the car. Now here's the thing: For 1/8 of a tank of fuel I have been charged 45.90 euros. These people are dishonest and should not be allowed to carry out what is basically an illegal business.
Dickmann's Alicante Airport
No problems at all, We got picked up in the airport shortly after arrival. We got the car we wanted, all was in order and matched the things we had on our reservationspapers. We got great service on getting an autoseat, they even switched it 3 times, because the first 2 were broken. They did it with a smile.
We were informed that it was importent, that the car was returned with a full gas tank, we recieved it that way. We filled the car close to Alicante, no problem here.
We bought their car insurence, that covered all damage on the outside, we had to cover any damage on the inside.
We will rent a car there next time.
Terrible
We were hit up for £450 deposit on arrival which was NOT made clear during the booking process which is also only refunded 20 days after you return the car.
We had a flat tyre on the main highway and were told by the Spainish representative on returning the car that we would not be responsible for payment for a new tyre only to have £250 of our deposit withheld for the tyre. I have been Emailling back and forth for weeks with their 'customer service' team (as apparently they dont have a phone??!!) to get my money back.
TERRIBLE.. never again.

The worst car rental company I have ever used. They operate out of a beat up van in the airport carpark they hugely over charge for fuel (118 euro for the smallest car at the time of writing) . If you don't buy their overly expensive extra insurance they TAKE not block 400euro from your credit card and then try not to sign for receipt of the vehicle so they can refuse to refund you. Even if they do refund its a partial refund and you have to persue them via your credit card company for the remainder. Truely the most dishonest holiday car hire company of them all.
Dickmanns Car Rentals are unethical
They charged €84 for a tank of fuel when in fact the maximum it would take from empty is €50 - that's a 68% overcharge and stinks of profiteering!
I think they have a highly unethical approach and users should be very careful to use them with the current practice of charging what THEY choose for a full tank of fuel.
It's much safer to rent on the basis of pick up full and fill before returning or pick up empty and return empty - then you aren't exposing yourself to a possible ripoff such as this.
