Great service! I love the option for an earlier crossing if available when we arrive early at the port.

We lodged a formal complaint concerning bullying, harassment and abuse directed by 4 male passengers at a lone, young female DFDS staff member working in the Premier Lounge aboard a ferry from Calais to Dover on 28/3/26. We provided evidence and confirmed that we would make statements should they be requested as part of the investigation.
Our complaint was acknowledged by Julita, Customer Relations. We have not yet received a substantive response to our complaint in spite of requesting this in writing on 4 occasions.
We request a formal response and an explanation and apology for the delay.
The witnessed behaviour was sufficiently serious to merit formal / police review.

We arrived with one hour to spare for the ferry. There was one booth open and clearly a problem so we waited for at least 15 minutes. By this time, we could not get the ferry and so we had to sit and wait for 1.5 hours for the next one. To make matters worse - there was one booth out of a possible 18 open for British passports - this is not DFDS's fault of course but is something which they should be aware of. The ferry crossing itself was pleasant and staff were especially friendly.

Staff were friendly, loading was easy, well updated and informed throughout the journey

Very good service. We were late on our travel to Dover due to traffic problems and got on the next ferry without problems. Handling at check in was very good .

If I could put zero, I would. Further update of the 14th of May 2026: still no reply despite emailing them again. We have taken the opportunity to contact their Current CEO via LinkedIn even though he is being replaced on the 1st of July. This really is absolutely shocking. Customer Service, when prior to this DFDS were our no. 1 choice for ferry crossings with everything being absolutely perfect.
Further update: 12th of May 2026, it is disappointing that DFDS still haven’t contacted us despite our emails to them. This IS a data breach we have experienced and we are extremely concerned. How can a fraudulent party have personal details of ours that we did not give over the Phone which they sent to us in an email? We have proof of what this is. We have given DFDS until close of business on Friday after which we shall be contacting the ICO. It is absolutely ridiculous that a company this size who has a ferry operator have collectively reported data issues online for several years to date is failing to take this matter seriously.
URGENT UPDATE:
We are urgently reporting a data breach of our details.
We have spoken with DFDS today following the issues yesterday. We have tried to contact customer services today but due to the wait time to have our call answered and the urgency of our issue we are submitting the following via trust pilot in an urgent attempt to have a response please:
To confirm: yesterday we DID NOT update the vehicle reg online. This was done by the fraudulent number we contacted. We were unable to use the APP which is why we called the number online for DFDS as this was a quicker solution for us as we were very busy.
The fraudulent company have updated our records. The contact at DFDS this morning as told us that this is impossible. But it is not impossible, it has clearly happened. The fraudulent company is 'ADAMS VACATIONS' 07446 218188 and 0808 599 1420.
We have received an email from them with an updated confirmation and this has been confirmed as correct this morning by DFDS.
There is a breach of our data and that includes home address and other personal details. We need for someone at DFDS to contact us urgently please.
With all due respect we are not IT illiterate and we would not update this ourselves 'by accident' and then call someone to do this for us. This company have accessed our details and we need to submit a report about it to DFDS off of this platform.
Thank you.
Update:
I have just received a call from dfds. It transpires the telephone number we called to change the booking was a fraudulent number and they were pretending to be DFDS.
Because we left the original negative review of dfds online with I have a booking number DFDS we’re able to read this and realise what that happened. They kindly telephone us to confirm what had happened.
I should’ve realised something was wrong because the woman I spoke to regarding the change of registration number of our vehicle was quite rude and this was not representative of the customer service for DFDS.
Due to the diligence of the DFDS person who called us, we are able to report this as a fraudulent matter so huge thanks to DFDS.
I have updated this review from a one star to a five star.
We travel to France regularly via DFDS and unfortunately on this occasion we need to change the registration number on a vehicle we have hired as the hire company have changed it. We have phoned DFDS because we can't do this via the APP and they are charging us £40 to do this! We have always left wonderfully positive reviews for DFDS because their staff are ALWAYS fabulous but £40 is an absolute rip off.
We have previously had this problem with the hire company and we have been able to update if free of charge.
£40 is a rip off. £10 yes, £20 maybe, but not £40.

We get the Dover to France route 6 monthly for an event in Belgium. This trip, the traffic back was a little problematic and meant we would miss our 19:30 ferry from Calais, with the next one not being until 23:00. Not wanting to wait for 3ish hours, we decided to "chance" Dunkirk, the staff were very helpful and put us on the 20:00 from Dunkirk even though technically our ticket was for Calais. Super helpful and saved us a very long wait! I'm not sure if its company policy to allow that, but either way, great customer service and helped us out perfectly. Thanks!

The ferry journey with DFDS from Dover to Calais was good overall. The ship was clean and comfortable, and boarding was well organized. There were enough seating areas, and I enjoyed the sea views during the trip. The only downside was that it was a bit crowded and the food was expensive. Overall, a pleasant and smooth experience.

Great experience, really flexible and nice people on board. Only the tax free shop is not cheaper then normal, thats a bit weird.
