I placed an order on 11/29/24. Got a phone call and subsequent emails confirming the order and payment was processed the same day. It's now 12/25/24 and no sign of shipment let alone tracking or delivery updates. I've received generic responses to my inquiries, stating they were checking with the logistics team as to when the bottle would ship. At this point I can't be sure I'm not being scammed and out over $200usd.
I bought a Santory Toki whisky at our local supermarket in Germany for 29.99 €. In the evening, I found the same whisky promoted as a 100 year addition, which means they put the same bottle in a decorated cardboard box at dekanta for $259. For me this an obvious rippoff looking for stupid customers.

DO NOT order from Dekanta! I ordered a bottle of Kavalan from Taiwan. There was one attempted delivery and no other attempt for over 3 weeks. Dekanta told ME to go track the bottle down myself from the post office, gave me the tracking information for another customer, and did not offer me a solution for the missing package. They continued to tell me that their logistics department was working on it. They are a complete waste of time.
When they asked for a review, I told them I would not be using their service anymore and they continued to make excuses that obviously are not helpful to me. When I asked them to stop contacting me they continued to email me. Don’t let them waste your time.

My personal shopping experience previous was pleasant but this time not so much. My first issue is a minor one but the shipping was delayed weeks due to recent changes in exports laws. The issue that bothered me the most is that mystery box appears to be a scam (in my opinion). I received a bottle of a very tasty whiskey by name of Mars Tsunuki 2019 Port Cask# T714. I have never heard of this brand so I did a little research starting with searching Dekanta's website. I was not able to locate this specific whiskey so I started to search google for other resources. I found very little information about this whiskey (I was unable to verify the normal retail cost) however I was able to determine that it was available at a few online resell retailers in the UK for no more than $250usd for a bottle of this whiskey. This prompted me to contact and express that Dekanta (Aika) who had previously been very responsive to my questions during shipping. It took more than a week to get a response from (Yuri). They replied by " We are sorry to hear that the item you have received didn't meet your expectations, but we believe that the bottle you have was worth it's price. Upon checking this bottle was already hard to purchase because of the limited release and per our supplier advise that it was sold out in the market. There are only limited 314 bottles that was released. This bottle was listed on our website at $529.99 USD, please check the link below." The link provided does show the value of this whiskey being 529.99 usd on Dekanta website now however it was not previous listed on the website before my complaint about Dekanta not now meeting there promise of receiving a bottle that would meet the 349.99 I paid for the mystery box. It appears they created a random number for the value of the whiskey. I am aware they charge higher premium than most retailers for hard to find whiskeys which I was okay with but in the future I will not be purchasing from this company again based on this experience.
