Able to retrieve info from old floppy, but at a cost. Was the info worth it, know what you're retrieving beforehand I suppose.

Good communication. Quick cost quote and recovery of data. I have previously used this firm to recover data from a damaged hard drive in a Mac. This time it was an SSD chip. Datatech Lab did an excellent job both times.

I was happy with the recovery job and the price of the work, but there are 2 elements that I found a little frustrating. The first is probably beyond the control of datatech in that the file directories that were created are extremely disjointed and difficult to navigate through as the data doesn't come together as it was on the original hard drive. The search functions to find files is tedious and takes a lot of time, as a standard search request of finding all movie files or all photos only brings up some of the files, so you really have to go directory subdivision by subdivision, which is time consuming and requires quite a bit of restructuring on my part. The second part, which is entirely in their control is that there was zero disclosure about the additional cost of purchasing a new detachable disc drive. While the need for the drive totally makes sense, it would be a better business practice to disclose the cost or to all the consumer to bring their own media. It just felt like a surprise in the pricing. I would have much rather have been quoted the extra $100 rather than be told via the bill received. I didn't find this in the fine print of the service either. The service overall was effective, the staff was friendly and efficient, and I received the service I asked for, thus the 4 star rating.
