An experience of our lifetime!

My family and I went to The Bahamas the 21th of June 2019 until the 3th of July 2019. We wanted to book all tours pre-hand to make sure there were room for all of us (4 adults and one toddler of 22 months). I found Da Salty pig online and texted Bruce about their trips. We wrote back and forward about what we wanted to experience, and he recommended us a tour to The Spanish Wells to se the wild swimming pigs, turtles, sandbank etc. He had a very professional and proactive attitude, so we felt comfortable in booking him. He even booked the ferry from Nassau to The Spanish Wells for us. Coming to The Bahamas from Denmark this boat tour was the highlight of our vacation so when we received a text from Bruce late the evening before that the fast ferry was cancelled we could cry. But in the same text Bruce wrote he would come get us as he did not want us to miss out on this experience. Man of the day! You cannot even believe the excitement. Bruce picked us up at the harbor in Nassau and sailed us out to a shipwreck where you could just see the top of the wheelhouse above water. He equipped us with snorkeling gear but as I have only tried snorkeling in the coral reefs of Egypt I did not know what to expect. So, I jumped in the water and looked below. Oh man! The crystal-clear water, the intimidating big ship and the fish. There are no words for this. We all snorkeled for a while and swam around the big shipwreck. It was amazing. I do not know what I was expecting of this boat tour really. But I thought to myself that nothing of the coming experiences this day would top this snorkeling experience…. But Bruce proved me wrong. After snorkeling the shipwreck, we sailed out to this big snow-white sandbank in the middle of nothing. Like my brother-in-law said; it was like standing on the bottom of the sea. We played in the sand with the toddler, had a sandbank-picknick, dug for sand dollars and bathed in the sea. It was the most beautiful and relaxing experience ever. Then we sailed to the swimming pigs and boy was that fun. They were so cute and friendly. The toddler could get up close with them and all of us had a very nice and special experience feeding the pigs. Bruce instructed us to make sure we were safe and felt comfortable. He even helped get really good pictures of us feeding the pigs. Sailing to The Spanish Wells for lunch at The Shipyard Bruce was very informative about the life in The Bahamas. The lunch at The Shipyard was amazing. The food, the location, the service, just everything about it was perfect. From there on we sailed to an area with shallow, water to dive after starfish. Again, Bruce instructed us in handling the starfish and he made it clear that we could not take the starfish above water as it would die. In general, he was very keen to the wellbeing of the animals which is equally important for us. I had never touched a starfish, so this was kind of scary for me, but Bruce convinced me it was okay, and I am glad I had the chance and now have this experience as a great memory. Then we went to feed sea turtles. These are turtles that Bruce himself have made comfortable with people feeding them. This man is a genius. This was the highlight of the day. I mean wow! We stood in the shallows feeding wild turtles with small squids that Bruce brought with him. It was also perfect for the toddler as she could as well get up close with the cute turtles. Yes, the pigs were cute but this…! OMG! From there we went to the last spot, The Preacher’s Cave. A big open cave in the middle of nowhere. Exciting and intimidating at the same time. We felt like castaways standing in that cave. And of course, Bruce sailed us all the way home again. In general Bruce was very particular in securing safety for all of us as well as the animals. He made sure we had a nice experience, that we were comfortable the entire day and ensured great circumstances around the toddler. The boat was clean, he brought water, played music and everything was just well planned and executed. This was the experience of our lifetime and words are really not enough to explain our gratitude. We will forever grateful and we will always recommend Da Salty Pig to anyone.
