Cook Store operates very slowly.

Ordered a simple garlic keeper from their website. It's been a week now & it hasn't even shipped yet! I could've ordered this from Amazon or eBay & it would've arrived much quicker, and a lot of those sellers are from China (overseas).

They asked me again to buy something else instead since it didn't even ship yet. I declined & requested a full refund.

AVOID THIS COMPANY LIKE THE PLAGUE!

FALSE ADVERTISING ON FREE SHIPPING OVER $99 CANADA WIDE

I did a $355.00 order for 5 Thermal Bunn carafes and was told almost 2 weeks later there would be a $190 extra shipping fee. The only caveats they mention on their site are items over 30lbs or in remote locations will be extra freight. The order was to Vancouver BC. Not remote. Then I chatted and emailed asking if the order was over 30lbs could they put them in separate boxes. They said yes, no problem. Or I could order each one separately and it should come I thought also. So they had no excuse but to tell me the manufacturer has shipping costs which means they don’t stock it but just order from the manufacturer and have them send it. They don’t mention that either in their shipping explanation. And there was no mention that there was no free shipping when purchasing - My invoice said “free shipping”

Also their “Expert Help” phone line doesn’t even have an option to talk to anyone. It tells you to email. I had it refunded.

They need to update their “Free Shipping” information. Waste of my time.

Placed an order.. it never shipped. I wrote to them asking for a refund, then they write it has shipped but I'm still waiting. Only a pre recorded message on the phone lines. THIS IS A SCAM

Abysmal Service

Save yourself a lot of time and frustration and order from ANYWHERE else. They respond slowly and selectively to emails but they sure charge your in a hurry. Don't do it!!

Bait and switch

Ordered a wok from their website, it said 'Ships in 7-14 days' - this in itself should have been a red flag, but I went through with the order. One month later, it still has not shipped and I've been told it won't be arriving at the warehouse for another 2-4 weeks. Very disappointed and would have ordered elsewhere. Seems like a drop shipping operation with bait and switch availability.

If they don't care about a food bank?

If they don't care about a food bank, what kind of service do you think you will get?Lies, bad service, sent used defective merchandise, We placed an order for $50,000 in equipment to up date our food bank, 25 percent of the order was missing even when they made us pay 2 months early to hold stock, we had to purchase else where and it took 6 months for them to reimburse the food bank for the missing merchandise we canceled.

2+ months later nothing has shipped

Ordered 3 items in the first week of October. Nothing has been sent yet. Several weeks ago I asked them where it was and they said one item was still not in stock. I asked them to send me what was in stock. They suggested I order something else instead. When I didn’t reply they didn’t follow up at all. I contacted them again this week and they again asked me to choose something else, and suggested two different items, neither of which was even the same kind of tool as what I ordered - one of them costing $20+ more (which they wanted me to pay the difference on) and the other a complete piece of junk.

When I declined and again asked them to ship the items they had in stock and ship the final item when it was available they refunded me on the item that wasn’t in stock instead, without even asking if that is what I wanted.

They were unable to provide even a rough estimate of when the item I ordered 2 MONTHS AGO would be “in stock” (why were they selling stock they didn’t have at all?!?) at any point during this, though they had said “two weeks” three weeks ago that clearly was a fat lie. I will never order from this supplier again - absolutely one of the worst customer experiences I have ever had, no proactive communication about an order that was on hold for a ridiculous amount of time, no effort to make it right when the issue was entirely their fault. Garbage company, I do not recommend. Steer clear.

Beware

They debited PayPal but shipped nothing for 15 days. On top of that, without asking my permission, they set themselves up on PayPal to make automatic deductions.

I e-mailed them to cancel the order and credit my account. They asked me to buy something else instead.

Eventually they refunded the payment, but none of this was appropriate.

Charged right away and no items

I made an order on Nov 12th, got an email confirming my order and the charge was taken on my card. It took them almost two weeks to give me any other sign of life, and only after I emailed them first, asking them what was up. It's at that moment that they told me one of the items I ordered was unavailable. I agreed to an item swap, and was told that my order was in shipping and that I would get a shipping confirmation soon. That was about 3 business days ago.

I ordered from a Canadian company, to encourage the economy and because I didn't want to deal with international shipping times. I've ordered from China since then and even that has already made it here. I even checked to make sure they weren't in BC where the floods are happening. I live 5 hours from their headquarters.

This is unacceptable. Even if they were to ship today, which they clearly won't, it would have taken a minimum of 3 weeks to reach me. After reading other reviews here, they clearly don't hold an actual inventory in Canada and are most probably just a Chinese drop point, and sell items they don't have on hands. I will be contacting my credit card company soon.

I had a similar discontinued item issue with a pet company from Alberta this year, and not only did they reach out to me within 24 hours to apologize and work things out, I got my items really quickly. Also, most companies now only charge once the items have shipped to avoid supply frustrations. Take note, Cookstore.

They don’t even deserve 1 star

They don’t even deserve 1 star. I ordered almost $1000 worth of merchandise. They charged my Visa on that day. They had my money for 55 days before I received my order. I sent numerous emails. They always sent a response but never answered my 1 question. Ever. I finally got thru on the phone. (Press 1 if you are calling about an existing order) yeah, that was linked to the loop of no escape! So I pressed 2 (to place an order.). I got a real person - just like that. I told her my plight, she hemmed and hawed and tried to track my parcel for me, with great difficulty. But in the end was able to. (I was not able to). My item did arrive, with much relief felt. I believe this company consists of 1, maybe 2 people working out of their basement. I recommend you do not purchase from this company. Life will be better if you just don’t.

The bad reviews are spot on.

I wish I had read the reviews before I bought from cookstore.
They list an item as "IN STOCK-READY TO SHIP".
It's not true. The next day, it reads "Backordered". AFTER I spent $3600+
I contact customer service. They avoid answering my question if the item is backordered and tell me it's not ready yet.
I press a little harder asking for clarification. Then they come clean and tell me it's a drop ship item and they will put me in touch with a drop ship "specialist".
I tell them I'm not willing to wait and please refund me, because I know the manufacturer is out of stock too...that's WHY I ordered from cookstore.
CRICKETS. They ignore my request for a refund.
I contact paypal, get a resolution case going. I contact my credit card and report fraud. Yes, offering an item and telling the customer it's in stock and ready for shipment and then drop shipping it is FRAUDULENT.
Avoid these guys. VERY SHADY business practices.

Would give zero stars if possible

Back in May of 2021, I placed two separate orders on their website. The products were all backordered, but at the end of August I received a shipment of a single item from each of the two orders. However, their website showed one order as complete, while the other was still marked processing. Repeated attempts to get this resolved by support made it clear that their support reps were not reading my description of the problem, and were responding from a script. It was beyond frustrating. As of this day, I'm still waiting on hundreds of dollars worth of product, which they insist was shipped and will not acknowledge that they marked certain products as shipped that were not, while at the same time sending me products that are still marked pending. I'm not convinced the support is more than an automated system, so poor is their reading comprehension. Save yourself the headache and shop somewhere else. Anywhere else, really.

The delivery of the knife was very…

The delivery of the knife was very fast. The chefs knife
(Global - G Series 8" Cook's Knife (20 cm) - G2 BROW-71G2 $132.99)
is great and the sharpest knife I’ve ever owned. Comfortable weight and easy to hold with the grips on the handle. I will definitely order others in the future.

Perfect item for a gift

Perfect item for a gift, arrived quickly and well packaged. Something to bring back old memories is always appreciated. I have a pepper grinder from my mom that has to be well over 50 years old and still going strong exactly like this vintage one I bought for a gift!

Well done when dealing with a super popular item

This was a hard item to get as it seemed a very popular item. I did appreciate being told why there was a delay in shipping and being given the option to cancel. I opted to wait and once the item was shipped it arrived quickly. The pizza oven I ordered is is a great product and I appreciate CookStore's openness about the ordering process. I will definitely order again from Cookstore the next time I need another kitchen product.

Excellent service and products

Extremely happy with the service and with the products ordered. It took a while because one item was back ordered, but I was kept informed and given options while I waited. Once it became available, the delivery was very quick.
