Consider yourself warned...
Late review--reflects multiple rooms during July 15-18, 2026, stay. Buckle up--this will be a long, detailed review.
Let me begin by saying I booked 3 different rooms at the property only because of a close friend's recommendation based on his previous stays at this property.
Our problems started with reservations. At the time, this property was a part of the Choice Hotels franchise. I initially thought the reservations issues were because of the Choice Hotels app, but upon calling the property I began to realize this may be a bigger issue.
I had initially made reservations for 2 separate rooms but ended up adding a third room all before setting foot in the hotel. Remember, I had never stayed here and only chose this property because of a friend's recommendation.
It is very evident upon pulling up to the property that the hotel is dated and in need of many updates and renovations. The lobby is very clean, though the amenities they provide like coffee, lemon water and popcorn were always empty.
Upon entering the room, we noticed a strange smell and the sliding glass door left wide open to the balcony. In my many hotel stays I have never entered a hotel room to find the exterior door or window left open. I simply closed the door and turned on the A/C to get the air circulating. This did help a bit with the odor. It was a nice touch to find a small basket of complimentary snacks and a coffee maker in the room. The room had many shoddy repairs to the walls that were obvious enough to call our attention. We did notice a huge banner in the lobby and on every floor that the property was transitioning to another name in August, so we thought maybe then the property would be renovated.
Since I had made 3 separate reservations, I wanted to make sure the names of those checking in were added to the reservation so they could check in if I were not at the property. I wanted their names ADDED. They CHANGED the reservations to their names which made it very difficult to have access to discussing the condition of these rooms and my Choice Hotels points since I paid for all 3 rooms. I did not receive all of the Choice Hotels points from these reservations.
The worst part of our stay, and the majority of the reason for this very poor review, has to do with our 3rd room. After checking in late July 17th, our friends entered their room to find the sliding glass door AND THE SCREEN DOOR left wide open. Since the screen door was open mosquitoes were able to get into the room. There were SO many. Our friends went down to the front desk to get another room, but the hotel was full. So, they said they wanted a refund on the room since they were not going to stay in a mosquito infested room. The night employees said they could not issue a refund and to call the manager in the morning. Our friends did call the manager, and he said he would conduct an internal investigation and get back to them. He did not. I ended up calling the manager and this is what transpired.
First he said he had tried calling me. This is not true. I had no calls from the hotel or unknown numbers since our stay at the hotel. He also said he only deals in facts and that he has been working in the hotel business for 40 years and managing hotels for 35 years. He said he had video and audio proof of everything he was going to tell me. Subsequently, I asked him to email this video and audio proof, which he did not. Then he proceeds to tell me that our friends smoked in the room and left ash all over the beds/sheets and that they had trashed the room. That they had offered to fumigate the room, but who wants to sleep in a room that has just been doused with bug spray? That our friends used foul language in addressing the hotel receptionist staff. And, finally, I should be thankful he did not charge me the $250 fee for them smoking in the room nor an additional fee since there were 3 of them instead of 1 like the reservations stated.
As soon as I started to respond to his allegations he hung up on me. I immediately called back only to have an employee tell me he was in a meeting. Though I said I had just been on the phone with him 5 seconds before, the employee stated another employee had entered his office and he was not available. I called 3 additional times on subsequent days and the manager refused to take my call nor return my call.
Well, that is enough ranting. If you have made it this far in my review, congratulations. And consider yourself warned about what you may find at this property.
