Sorry
Sorry, but having eaten oysters since childhood, am now 74, I can hand on heart say the pyfleet sanitised / treated are not the same as natural oysters, which I have had from this supplier. I ordered 18 in 3 x vac sealed 6,s, firstly, the shells are not that simple to open, as described in the marketing, I still had to use my oyster shucking knife to prize open, albeit, a lot less effort than opening a regular natural shell. Secondly, the oyster meat is a not attractive, greyish bloom, thirdly, the meat is incredibly salty, I had to smother in lemon juice and sherry vinegar to tone down the salt. The I suppose possible upside would be, these oysters would probably cook well, in steak pies, hot smoked and maybe added to a fish pie. I won't be buying again, but happy to buy regular Colchester oysters in season.
