After reading all the previous reviews of Steve @ Codemybimmer, I'm not sure that mine is needed. All pretty much say the same thing... that Steve is knowledgable, professional and great to deal with. My experience is very much the same. I wanted CarPlay in my 2015 BMW 420i Gran Coupe, but my head unit ran iDrive 4 software (CarPlay was not available until ID5). I looked into several retrofitting options... the OEM ones were complicated and expensive, in the $1500-$2500 range. I could have gone with an Android aftermarket unit for about $700, but I read too many negative reviews to be convinced it was for me. I then discovered Steve on a few of the BMW forums, and contacted him. He took my HU's version and told me he could remote flash the latest iDrive 6 software and code/enable CarPlay in, for $350!!! No expensive hardware purchase, other than a $10 antenna to improve the wifi signal. Now I'm definitely of the "if it seems too good to be true, it probably is" persuasion, so I had plenty of questions for Steve before deciding to pull the trigger. He patiently answered all my questions to my satisfaction, and scheduled my install within a few days once I committed.
The session took around 4 hours and went great. Steve was prepared for a couple small issues that arose and had a workaround for them. I've been running ID6 and WIRELESS CarPlay on my NBTEVO head unit now for a few days, and couldn't be happier. I've lost none of my cars previous functionality, and now have the same infotainment tech running as if I'd just purchased a brand new BMW 4 series off the lot today. For anyone with a late 2015 / 2016 model BMW with Pro Nav installed from the factory, that wants CarPlay, this is definitely the way to go.

So here is my story: Ordered a 2020 G20 330i xDrive to be built in Germany.

Well, got the car and, to my dismay, found out that the office feature doesn't work (can't see SMS/emails from phone). Strange, my 2014 F30 has it. Called BMW and was told that the wireless charging/WiFi option includes the Enhanced Bluetooth (EBT) in it and that is a prerequisite for the office function. They also told me that that package included EBT antenna. Too late, I did not spec that feature. In other words, I was out of luck... Or was I?

After quite a bit of surfing, I stumbled on codemybimmer.ca. The activation of EBT was listed as one of the services. I contacted and received a prompt reply form Steve.

Steve was confident that I did not need any hardware and he could do it via remote coding session. I asked if there was any guarantee of success and Steve said that, if it didn't work, I'd get my money back (minus the $19.99) for the cable. I decided to go for it.

Mind you, that exchange was late Friday night. By Sunday afternoon, I had the cable in my hands. I contacted Steve and scheduled the coding session. Steve is on Hong Kong time so his mornings coincide with evenings on the East coast USA, convenient.

Anyway, everything went as promised and worked on the first try. I did not feel rushed and Steve answered all my questions.

The way I understand it, the charge is for the coding session and not per feature. You can have a list of a few functions that you want activated during that time. I had several other "nice to have" functions activated. Steve is also cautious about some features. He will not activate something that might give you a problem.

I am very happy with the results and will recommend codemybimmer to anyone interested and, if needed, intend to use their services in the future.

Found Steve on one of the BMW forums. Recently had a weird issue with the side cameras displaying upside down. Steve was fast to respond, and "re-trained" the cameras after easily connecting to my car remotely. The price was very reasonable. I've had a few subsequent questions and Steve is very responsive. Will definitely use Codemybimmer again.

Steve recently help me to install Sirius XM. His help and advice was excellent, and he was extremely friendly. Since I have an F33 convertible (came without a Sirius antenna installed), Steve helped me to figure out the correct antenna to purchase and then helped me to get it coded properly. Additionally, he was able to help me get the proper code so that I could update the maps on my Nav system.

I highly recommend both Steve and Codemybimmer, and I will definitely be back again next time I need any coding.

I seriously can’t say enough good things about Steve. He is super professional, knowledgeable, patient, and friendly. I decided to add Active Cruise Control to my car as it was not installed from the factory. It was a complicated mix of hardware and software upgrades. It took some trial and error to get all of the hardware right and each time I did a hardware reconfiguration, Steve was really great at working on the coding. Every time I asked, “Can you try it now?”, he was so willing and patient about doing it. Finally, we got it right and ACC is working great. Steve, thanks so much. One of the best customer service experiences I’ve ever had.

Had a head unit failure on my 2014 328x, saw Steven's response on a forum and contacted him. He helped to confirm the failure, supplied, coded a replacement HU, and shipped within 48 hours.

Super professional in all dealings, from initial contact to follow up.

Once again the team at Codemybimmer have gone above and beyond the call of duty. I recently had my 2019 M550i in for service at a BMW dealer and one of the items that was done was an upgrade to the rear camera. This wiped all of the after market coding that I had in the system. With one quick email / text I was provided with an appointment and the team was able to get me back to where I was before I took it into the dealer.

Coded my new head-unit after failing to attempt it myself. Arranged an appointment within 3 hours of contacting for a remote coding session and had the unit fully working in less than an hour. Anytime I have a question Steve replies to it promptly. Highly recommended.

I upgraded the head unit in my mini, and had Codemybimmer do the work to integrate it with the car. Steve went above and beyond to get the new unit coded, explain everything to me and stayed with me until I had everything installed and working.

Steve was great, he was very knowledgeable and professional.

Anyone who knows anything about BMW retrofitting, coding or updates will know that it can be time consuming and trial and error to do it yourself. Some coding is just best left to people who really know what they are doing and remove the risk.

I was looking to do an EVO head unit upgrade for a long time to get CarPlay and eventually I got a unit cheap enough to justify doing it. I’m experienced in general coding myself but but just dont have the time for the messing about for it. I absolutely wrecked Steve’s head with questions for days before committing and the dude didn’t sweat it for a second. He was the ultimate professional and that’s why I didn’t hesitate for a second with handing the unit to him to sort.

Himself and Ken had it done overnight for me and threw in a free wifi antenna. The upgrade is amazing and it was a pain free process. Good coding skill costs money and it’s worth it. Don’t cheap out and pay someone who’s having a go at it. It’s stressful and frustrating and you can ruin the unit. Get a professional like Steve!

Steve was awesome! I was able to get the NAV updates applied and he connected remotely with me to enable my Sirius XM quickly and it is working great!!
