Stable managed WordPress hosting

I was changing hosting services in the past 2 years from Shared to VPS to Hetzner to Namecheap and etc... at the end i found Closte which is very stable , value for money and with lot of good background systems.
Must mention their support time is also good and super responsive , especially during my migration process.

good value, very stable

I hosting my news media website which has over 300K visitors per month for over 5 years without a single issue.

All that for less than $100 per month.
Can't be happier!

Great platform and support

Great platform, actually great customer service — mostly keeping clients out of trouble from themselves.

Enterprise level scaleability for bargain cost-efficiency. There's not really anything else out there like this, as you are only paying for what you use, and no more.

Super speed, too. Recommended.

Stellar Hosting Ruined by Terrible Customer Service!

When it comes to hosting, Closte is top-notch, deserving of five stars. However, their customer service is a catastrophe.

The issues began with the Paris server incident, where the downtime was incredibly long compared to other sites on the same server. While another hosting provider restored service much faster (Kinsta), Closte took over a month. The customer service team acknowledged the incident and promised compensation, including an email from their CEO. Despite several opened tickets, we never received any compensation or email.

Moreover, the documentation is poor when it comes to transferring clients independently. It is not mentioned anywhere that transferring a site does not automatically transfer the DNS. As a result, I ended up paying for DNS services for clients who had left the maintenance contract.

I currently have a ticket open for a refund of an overcharge. The refund was confirmed but never processed. This ticket has been open for two months, and they have completely disappeared and ghosted me.

I speak from experience, having been with them since September 2020 and managing multiple sites.

When everything is running smoothly, Closte is perfect. However, at the slightest problem, they take no responsibility and treat you poorly.

Mixed feelings: Speed vs. cost = good; Customer service = total jerks

I have been a Closte customer for a few years, starting with one small business domain and now a few. I'm not super technical myself (and my WP devs don't really like Closte and always suggest I switch). But the ability to have a fast, optimized site for low traffic sites that get occasional traffic spikes without paying for a "premium" package every month is something I have not found elsewhere. However, I have mixed feelings and every few months I think about switching.

PROS:
- Clean, Google Cloud and Litespeed optimized = good for speed and SEO.
- Charges like a utility company: No need to buy an expensive recurring monthly package just to have speed + stability when there is a spike in traffic (like after a new blog/social media post or press release). I really like that if I get 5 to 50 visitors most days, but sometimes it spikes to 5-10k+ around certain events. I don't have to worry about paying for a super expensive hosting plan 12 months a year just for those few days of higher traffic--maybe the cost just increases a few dollars for those days and then back to normal.

CONS:
- The WORST part of Closte--and others have mentioned this--is that the support treats the customer like the enemy. I only need to open a support ticket maybe 2-4 times a year. I have found response times to be acceptable (within 12 hours, usually much faster--and once they replied once, they respond quickly to future messages in the ticket). But they treat their customers like GARBAGE. It's true they really make the customers feel like they are stupid for asking a question or making a suggestion. Never any, "Sorry for the bad experience / confusing language in the instructions, I'll make a note of this situation for our future product updates, thanks for the feedback." Just "No, you are wrong and it's not my problem, go away" kind of tone. I don't think I've ever seen another company that considers the customer as "the problem" the way they do. And unless I have gotten the same support person 10 times over several years (maybe?), it's consistently a nasty support culture.

- I'm not very technical (just the basics), but even my WP devs and managed WP partners do not like working in the environment (I'm not sure exactly why...some have said b/c no cPanel? Another one also hates the tone of the support because some of the functionality is not what they are used to on other hosting providers)

- As others have mentioned, they have raised the prices over time. I'm not sure though how big of a deal it is--for me it's acceptable. Probably for a regular monthly WP hosting service, they may not increase it very much each year / month, so they won't scare customers into switching. But since with Closte you're paying a little bit for each of 20 different variables : Per DNS zone, per CPU, per Europe CDN bandwidth, per Https request, etc...if they raise some of those even a little bit, it can add up. But at the end of the day, if I was originally paying $4 to 9 per month for one site, and now a few years later maybe $10 to 50 per month for a few sites (combined price), it's not a big deal. Better than "overpaying" $30-100+ monthly per site just to get a premium hosting package that is overkill 11 out of 12 months a year.

CONCLUSION:
It's a fast, cost-effective (for the good speed + stability) solution with a clean interface that scales with your traffic, storage, etc. If you don't need to touch it most of the time, it can be a good option that can be price competitive while still optimized for speed at all times (flexes resources with traffic/demand).

However, their support treats customers and their collaborators (devs) in such a nasty way, that I would happily pay more to switch to a different company that could provide the same model with a better attitude. The Closte model is, "The customer is always wrong," and it really bothers me on the rare cases I need to open a support ticket. Maybe they can add some AI chat support that would give at least the same level of response but without such a confrontational tone. There is an opportunity for a Closte competitor that values their customers. I certainly would pay more for such an option. Until then, they can hold onto customers like me because of their great product-market fit. Hopefully some other entrepreneurs will at least make them feel enough pain to take a look inside at their approach to business.

Closte.com support = ABYSMAL…

Closte.com support is absolutely horrible. The people are rude and you are at their mercy to respond to you whenever they want via chat. Not to mention the hosting has become super expensive. I have since gone back to GoDaddy, where support has always been amazing, and I'm paying less than I was with loste.
