Charlie has been great co ordinating the different works and following up. Matt really knows his stuff and the scaffolders were very efficient as well taking care not to damage my scrubbs.Tim Electrician and Ash and other guy were fantastic as well. Thanks Charlie for all your help.

They agreed to fit Solar panels and they communicated continually and ensured the install went ahead

City Energy, uhh..! The mere mention of their name raises my blood pressure and I could think of other names to call them, incompetent, unprofessional, to mention but a few.

I was due their visit to my property yesterday following my application to the 'Sustainable Warmth Scheme', a scheme funded by government awards to local councils to provide assistance to those with less than satisfactory insulation within their homes.

Monday 24th Jan 2023,

I received a text message stating that the City Energy rep would attend my property at 13:30 hrs the following day, I confirmed receipt of this message around 30 minutes later.

Tuesday 25th Jan,

14:26 hrs - An hour late for his appointment and still no sign of their rep! No calls from anyone at City Energy to explain their failure to attend on time as planned. I called the rep but his mobile went straight to voicemail.

14:28 hrs - I called the person who booked my appointment, their phone also went straight to voicemail.

14:38 hrs - I tried calling the rep again, ..still no luck call went straight to voicemail.

14:41 hrs - I telephoned the London branch of City Energy and explained my situation. After being placed on hold for several minutes (twice) I was informed the rep was on route to another job and he would call me later. He should have been on route to me, not some other person!

15:19 hrs - I received a call from the man who originally booked my appointment and who I phoned earlier at 14:28 hrs. He explained that I should have received a text message last night confirming today's appointment and asked if I had read it. I said that I had and I replied 30 minutes later. He seemed shocked by my reply and after a brief pause he told me that the rep had already visited my house earlier and could see it was too new and drove off. Amazed at such a ridiculous comment I suggested this was a fabrication of events to cover the tracks of his rep who clearly couldn't be bothered to attend today. He sounded somewhat panicked by my reply and said he would get the rep to call me.

Following this conversation I submitted a lengthy complaint about City Energy and their unprofessional attitude to my local council (Senior Sustainability Officer). Reply currently pending.

16:01 hrs - I received a call from the rep who was supposed to attend my property earlier. Failing to offer me any apology and having already submitted my complaint about him to my local council, I decided not to engage in the call and thanked him for wasting my day. He then raised his voice and told me the same story that he had already visited my property earlier. I disputed his revelation as a work of fiction telling him that I had been home all day and looking out of the window regularly. At this point the conversation became quite heated so I hung up in disgust. He did phone back immediately after but I blocked the call.

As you can see from my very detailed log of events, there remains a number of unanswered questions, for example, if the rep did visit my property yesterday, why didn't he knock the door and cancel the appointment? Why would he drive all that way to view my property from the outside when he could view it on Google Street View? Most likely this is what really happened.

It's glaringly obvious that City Energy and their rep acted in the most unprofessional way possible yesterday. Why the government gives contracts to such incompetent companies is beyond comprehension. Would you trust this company to do work for you? Based on yesterday's fiasco I certainly won't! If anyone else is thinking of employing their services I would urge you to think very carefully indeed.

Total fiasco. I was accepted for the sustainable warmth grant for solar. They sent two surveyors round who both gave the go ahead for solar on my roof. They then put scaffolding up only for the installers to turn up after 3pm with an hours daylight to say the scaffolding wasn't right, didn't like the pitch of my roof and that they thought the tiles were unsafe. This is despite my house and roof being identical to the other 60% of the street that has solar installed. The installers left and when I chased up what was happening I was given the option to either replace my entire roof in which case they would do it, totally ridiculous suggestion for someone on a very low income, or that I should, shockingly, sign a disclaimer to say that if the roof was damaged (or anything else for that matter) I would not be able to claim on their insurance. So, no solar, scaffolding still up and a wasted grant. To say I'm angry and gutted is an understatement. The time to tell someone that their house isn't suitable is at point of survey, not when you are expecting things to go ahead. Totally unprofessional in my opinion and it is very worrying that they are asking vulnerable people who are probably desperate about the cost of electricity to sign a disclaimer or get themselves into debt to have this work done. Just to add the installers were only on the scaffolding for about 5 minutes and no further survey on my roof was done to see the extent of repair needed. The houses along this street are all of the same age, have the same old tiles and at least 60% of them have solar installed. Additionally, whilst the girls in the office are great, I constantly had to chase as to when their team would be arriving so that I could plan my day. I have missed out on work and it's just been a total mess with this ending which as I say, should have been highlighted much earlier in the process, if indeed there was an issue other than the communication between the survey, scaffolders and installers wasn't just rubbish leading to a lack of will to do the job. This whole process has now badly impacted on my health and I would not recommend anyone using this company.

Absolutely shocking company said before Christmas everything was fine with all the paperwork and that installation would be early January contacted them today only to be told they were not proceeding wasted all that time could have gone with another company

The whole process for solar panel installation from application to completion was carried out quickly and efficiently. All communications were clear and comprehensive.

Honestly, best service ive received in a long time. I usually apply the rule, if it’s too good to be true, then something is a miss. Not in this case, communication, installation and everything in between has been outstanding. This company has set the bar high. I could not recommend them more! Reliable, hard working and efficient.

Two engineers turned up today to check a faulty electrical meter. They were very efficient and soon identified the problem which was then quickly fixed. The engineers, Rachel and Dan are a credit to the company.

IF I COULD I WOULD GIVE LESS THEN ONE STAR I WOULD ANYONE THINKING OF USING THIS DISGRACFUL COMPANY SHOULD SERIOUSLY AVOID SHOCKING DISHONEST COMPANY TERRIBLE SERVICE RECIEVED START TO FINISH VERY POOR WORKMANSHIP DAMAGES CAUSED TO ROOF BY COMPANY AFTER SOLAR PANELS INSTALL I NOTICED ALL THE ROOF TILES WHERE LIFTING BY INCHES WHERE SOLAR PANELS RAIL BRACKETS WERE BECAUSE THEY HAD FITTED WRONG BRACKET FOR MY TYPE OF ROOF LEAVING MY LOFT FELT RIPPED AND BROKEN EXSPOSING LOFT TO ALL WEATHER ENVIRMENTS SO I MADE COMPLAINT IT TAKEN THEM EXTRA 8 WEEKS TO COME BACK TO RECTIFY LIFTED TILES WHEN THEY CAME BACK STILL DIDNT BRING CORRECT TYPE OF BRACKETS SO RECTIFYED BY GRINDING TILES BACK CAUSING FURTHUR CRACKS & DAMAGE THE SCAFFOLDING WAS LEFT UP FOR TOTAL OF 3 MONTHS BEFORE REMOVED THEN SINCE A FURTHURE 4-5 ON WHEN THERE SUB CONTRACTORS INSULATION TEAM CAME WHEN RAINING AND HAVE FOUND 2-3 LEAKS IN LOFT AROUND CHIMLEY AND SOLAR PANELS BRACKET CAUSING MORE DAMAGE TO LOFT BY RAIN AND BEDROOM CEILINGS BELOW I MADE ANOTHER COMPLAINT BY PHONE & EMAIL AND IN WRITING THEY REQUESTED PICTURES I HAVE PROVIDED BUT JUST BEING AVOIDED FOR LAST 8 WEEKS YOU CAN SEE ON ROOF TILES WHERE THE FITTERS FEET HAS BEEN AROUNF THER AREA OF THE LEAKS AND ALSO LEFT MY SOLAR PANELS DISCONNECTED AFTER CONNECTING TESTING AND TAKING PICTURES THEN DISCONNECTING AGAIN AFTER THEN TELLING ME AFTER FITTING I NEED A NEW CONSUMER BOX FITTED BEFORE THEY CAN CONNECT AND THEY WILL POP BACK TO CONNECT UP ONE NEW CONSUMER BOX HAS BEEN FITTED I ASKED FOR CONFIRMATION OF THIS IN WRITING AND WAS AGREED BUT NEVER RECIEVED CONFIRMATION IN WRITING SO THIS HAS NOW BEEN REPORTED TO OMBUDSMAN WHO WILL BE NOW TAKING OVER MY COMPAINT DUE TO NO RESPONSE FROM CITY ENERGY ALSO THEY USE SUB CONTRACTERS FROM DIFFERENT NAME COMPANY FOR INSTALLING INSULATION I ALSO HAD ALOT OF PROBLEMS WITH THERE INSTALLERS ONLY FITTING 100MM OF INSULATION INSTEAD OF 300MM AS TO GOVERMENTS GUIDE LINE FOR SCHEME, AND ALONG WITH FITTING MIXTURE OF DIFFERENT WINDOWS VENTS NONE MATCHING LOOKING UNSIGHTLY AND SHOWING ALL THE UNSIGHTLY UNEVEN HOLES IN WINDOWS THEY DRILLED INTO WINDOWS I DONT KNOW HOW THES TYPES OF COMPANY GET WAY AND PAID FOR THE BAD WORKMANSHIP THEY PROVIDE AND CUTTING CORNERS AT EVERY OPERTUNITY IS JUST SHOCKING AND WISH I NEVER USED THIS COMPANY SO I HOPE I HAVE HELPED ANYONE THINKING OF USING CITY ENERGY COMPANY AND IF YOU DO USE COMPANY MAKE SURE YOU CHECK ALL SERVICES PROVIDED ARE CHECKED THROUGHLY

Could not fault the company always there to advise and help all the workforce were always polite and helpful and always clearing up found the whole process extremely organised would highly recommend

Disappointed had a survey done for heating grant in July Called then becoming of October to chase insulation to be told that they cancelled my application. I had no notification of the cancelation. Unprofessional

Bit of a mixed bag here
Qualified for solar panels and they sent an”expert surveyor” out who moaned that my roof was too small
Obviously didn’t want the job as last week another company came out and fitted 12 panels to my roof exactly the same size
Also got grant for under floor insulation
Told it was a three day job but I had to have extractor vents fitted in my bathroom kitchen and en-suite
Electrician arrived in the afternoon of the first day and fitted a fan on in the bathroom that is permanently switched on 24/7 which emits a low level hum irritating my tinnitus
That will now increase my electricity bill ffs!!!
Next day the fitters arrived in the afternoon to start the under floor insulation and moaned the house was big so would not finish it by the next day, sat around for an hour ringing the office and eventually tackled the dining room finishing it in just over an hour, then checked my extension floor which couldn’t be done so fitted all the trickle vents in my new period looking pvc windows
They look bloody awful and they agreed with me too
The final day they arrived nice and early and got on with the hallway
Finished by 1030 and decided to go home early leaving me without the lounge being insulated
Wont return to complete the job because they can’t fit an extractor fan in the kitchen
Frankly I wish I hadn’t bothered!!

From start to finish the whole experience was without any problem.
The workers were friendly and helpful throughout.
Would recommend to anyone.

Two of the team came to fit the electric boxes in my meter cupboard and a unit in my upstairs cupboard. I do not have access to the loft space. Very efficient. Scaffold already up. The team then came to put the panels on the roof. They were not there many hours and finished. The first two lads came back to connect the panels to the supply. All done in no time at all. Everybody certainly knew what they were doing! Very efficient bunch of lads.

After being granted funding for solar panels things moved very quickly. City Energy organised the installer (a company in Wales - I live on the South Coast of England). It would have been nice to know who the installer was prior to them phoning me out of the blue to arrange a site visit! A surveyor was quickly dispatched from the installation company soon after which the the solar panels were installed on the roof followed by an electrician the next day to connect everything - job done! and it all works. From my experience City Energy are a well organised and efficient company and would recommend.
