Room very dirty/unclean ( you could write your name on the windows. Booked over the phone and specifically requested a balcony. Guess what, no balcony. Privacy issues too due to position of the mirror.

Emails sent, excuses given. Avoid.

DEPRESSING

DEPRESSING
February 2026
They say you can never go back in time and that is indeed true. Stayed at The Cliffs Hotel Blackpool many years ago, was lovely then., not so anymore.
On stepping into the reception area we found it to be dark and depressing, not helped by the decor and the dirty carpet.., admittedly carpets get wear and tear but this was minging. The large Cafe bar was always freezing cold and again dark decor even though it’s supposedly been refurbished recently.
The cocktail bar could be freezing cold and most nights it was, not pleasant., yes it’s winter but you expect to be kept warm. Carpet in here same design as reception and was very highly stained, dark and depressing decor In here did nothing to help your mood.
We stayed on the third floor., the corridors again depressing and lack any kind of “finish”., again I now it’s an old hotel but I’m afraid they don’t even seem to try to make it look inviting., doors and door furniture to rooms as old as “methuselah” , I’m all for keeping it real to the era the hotel was built in but this was just plain depressing.
The side view bedroom/bathroom was clean but dingy and does not resemble any of the photos on their website, the bed was NOT a double, rather a small double., no doubt because it was a small room and they needed the space.
Food was edible, but the hot plates/lights need replacing as food was at best lukewarm.
Won’t be staying again

Full Refusal to change dates

No empathy whatsoever!
No customer satisfaction whatsoever.
Dates booked 30th November-5th December.
Due to parent being in hospital for 8 days and being released on a virtual ward and told not to holiday by consultant.
The cliffs completely refused a change of dates.
Parents have visited numerous times to the different hotels in the collection they have over many years.
Mostly in groups.
however they have zero empathy and understanding of honest genuine people who have a valid reason as to why a sufficient date change is needed.
Disgusted in them is an understatement.
Absolutely fantastic at really knocking someone who is down who would most certainly like to be on holiday rather than in a condition out of their control.
They advertise on other platforms with free cancellation but treat returning customers with great disrespect all for a simple date change.
Can honestly say there will most definitely not be any return or recommendations from any of our family or friends.
Totally and absolutely disgusted in their response!

On arrival it was very pleasant

it was a Very clean room, however it had a few scratches on the wall but there were not many. The food was very nice and they had lots of options. The swimming pool was very clean. However there were no lifeguards on duty. The cleaners did keep taking stuff out of our room, however we just had to go to Reception they gave it back to us.. The entertainment was very Nice and included a computer game room with about nine TVs and Xbox’s They also had a football table a table tennis table and arcade machines. Rocky Gardens was aimed at Very young children so is a bit babyish however in Rocky Gardens, they had a sweet shop. The gym looked good. Bingo, comedians and singers were very good. They offered to look after our bags after checkout so we could look around Blackpool. Most the staff were friendly and they had lots do do. The water did make me ill.

Edit.
Had yo stop on way home as both of us too unwell to continue. Booked Travel Lodge on M62. Catherine couldn't have been nicer, she's a credit to customer services.
We made 2 bookings and were told on check in we could stay in the same room. Today been told we need to check out because a wheelchair user needs our room because it's level and the hotel want us to go into a room with a little step.
The room we are in is not wheelchair friendly. It has a bath with shower, no grab rails at the toilet and no wheelchair access to part of the room.
We have hidden disabilities which we told the manager about but he reckons we are able bodied.
I fail to see how a wheelchair user could vacate the room.if there was a fire.
Do cliffs hotel really allow wheelchair users use a non wheelchair user friendly room? Is that not a health & Safety issue?
Obviously hidden disabilities don't count and the stress this has caused us will wipe us out for days!!!
Edit. They removed our belongings from the room we were in to room 107. As we were approaching the room we were in a young lad was coming out who told us his grandad was in the room and he had a wheelchair. He'd been given our room because the room he was in wasn't suitable for him so the manager Sean Crossley lied to us when he said someone had requested the room we were in. We were told by Michelle on reception that they'd had permission from the police to go into our room to take our stuff out. When I phoned 101 to ask if police could give that kind of permission I was told thats not permission the police could give cos its a civil matter.
I had a panic attack and begged staff for me to go to the other room for medication. They said they'd go for it but i told them i didnt know what it was called. Eventually after about 15 minutes I had an escort take me to the room so I could take it.
I feel violated as a woman because they've physically had to pick up my clothing, including underwear.
We both feel discriminated against because not one member of staff, including the manager took on board that we have disabilities even saying to us that we are able bodied! We have no choice but to drive 2.5 hours home cos we have no money to book into another hotel. Michelle wouldn't even give us written proof that they wanted us to leave the hotel. You ought to be ashamed of yourselves. I'm 56 years old and have never been treated like this in my life.
