This company is not worth it!

This company says they will cover your items and no unexpected expenses. After you pay the $75 to have someone come out to look at a problem, they wanted me to pay $940 installation for a water heater. They would put $400 toward the water heater. They are a scam. I cancelled and took care of my water heater with a handyman..

Wrong Choice for a home warranty

We switched to Choice Home Warranty (CHW) from American Home Shield. Big mistake. The one and only time we tried to use the CHW it was denied. Our electric double wall oven control panel went out. The first repair technician dispatched never showed up or called. I had to call CHW so they would dispatch a new service technician. The new technician dispatched spoke very broken English and spent most of the call on the phone. The technician said "control panel broken". About 1 week late, I contacted the repair technician was informed CHW would not cover the repair. I then contacted CHW to inquire why the repair was not covered and was informed the control panel problem was due to a power surge. There had been no power surge in our home. All other appliances, including the pc we leave in sleep mode, were working fine. I informed CHW of this fact was offered $400 towards the repair. I asked multiple time to speak with a manager or supervisor and told the person I was speaking to was the manager. We looked online for a new control panel for the oven but the part was obsolete. My personal opinion is that when CHW discovered the part was obsolete and they would have to replace the oven they claimed the failure was due to a "power surge" so they didnt have to cover the repair/replacement cost.

It's a scam

I posted this on the other choice warranty page too. It's a scam. They will deny your claims for any possible reason, and if you want your money back, they will deduct "service fees" from what they owe you on top of their cancellation fee. For example, if you bought a 5 year warranty policy for $2,000 and cancel half way through, you might get $250 back if you are lucky.

Horrible experience - waste of money

I just cancelled our policy due to Choice Warranty refusing to do what their people promise.

1. For a claim for heater/AC unit under parts only warranty through manufacturer, Customer Service Rep advised if the repairman could get parts sourced free through the manufacturer, Choice Warranty would pay the repairman for installation. Claim was denied completely. Supervisor first said “it was only his rep” who made that promise and would not make good on what I was promised. He then asked if I saw all the exclusions and said the repair most likely would have been denied anyway due to the exclusions. He even said that someone could have thrown a rock at the unit. Really???? Very unprofessional.

2. This denial followed a previous denial for our washer which began to make a horrible racket during the spin cycle where the drum was bashing against the inside of the washer. They said it was working “normally”, and it would need to break completely in order to be covered. Once again, they referred to the exclusions.

3. When I cancelled the policy, supervisor advised the exact prorated amount that would be refunded. When refund check arrived, it was $50 short. I called and someone in their Cancellation Dept researched and advised there was a $50 cancellation fee. I asked them to stand behind the refund amount the supervisor had quoted, and they refused to do so.

What sort of company allows their employees (including a supervisor) to make incorrect statements and promises to their customers and then does not make good on those promises? A company I will not do business with any longer and will absolutely not recommend to anyone.

WARNING- horrible experience with Choice…

I had a horrible experience with Choice Home Warranty and would strongly caution others before signing up.

I reported my HVAC system as inoperable during the summer months — obviously an urgent issue. The claim process itself was difficult and frustrating. After finally getting the claim submitted, the assigned contractor did not arrive for five days, despite the severity of the situation.

When the contractor did show up, they arrived without the proper tools to adequately troubleshoot the system. They attempted to assign another contractor which took an additional four days. At that point, I lost confidence in the entire process.

Following this experience, I made the decision not to renew my contract. I communicated this to Choice Home Warranty representatives more than 20 times, clearly requesting to be removed from their contact list. Despite this, I continue to receive calls.

Even more concerning, once representatives realized I was not interested in renewing, their tone became rude and dismissive, and several times they abruptly hung up.

Based on my experience — unreliable contractors, poor claim handling, aggressive follow-up, and unprofessional customer service — I would avoid this provider at all costs.

They raised prices without warning

They raised prices without warning, increasing the service charge from $75 to $100. Whenever something needs fixing, they claim it’s not covered in the contract, so you have to pay out of pocket. They also hike the monthly payment without informing you. I just canceled my membership—definitely not worth the money.

Choice Home Warranty buyers beware!!!

In December 23, 2025 @ 2:24pm I called CHW to submit a claim on my malfunctioning water heater.
-12/23/25 a vendor from Forever Plumbing In ARIZONA was contacted to work on my water heater in WISCONSIN. They turned down the job I was sent a message of that claim 314731120
-CHW then again initiated having vendor from Forever Plumbing Arizona do the job in WIsconsin. I observed this information on the CHW app.
-12/26/25 I called Forever Plumbing In ARIZONA at 480-662-2031, I asked why these jobs were going to them when I live in Wisconsin they didn’t know I asked if they could explain that to CHW. Now 3 days later.
-Because you have removed all of my past conversations with you on tthe CHW app. My dates may be a little off!
-12/27/25 new claim number 324837128 the $100 initial fee was voided. I was told to locate a vendor in my area To diagnose my water heater which was barely functioning no hot water temperature fluctuating without husband constantly resetting it. Document provided from Fraisure ‘s located one hour away evaluated and gave their diagnosis and recommended path. Documentation uploaded on their app.
-recommended replacement due to being a 2007 and one day later the heater burned out and could not reset anymore.
-this is now January 5, and we started this on 12/23.
-Frasiers gave an high estimate for over $2100.
-Document uploaded.
-With no hot water now and a pissed off husband he took the matter into his hands. He went Jensens 30 minutes away and they had the same heater for $560 not $2100 at Fraisur’s. He purchased and they installed the next day. Document is uploaded for water heater price of $620 and sent an installer next day.
-installer charged $450 and took pictures and documents and pictures uploaded to CHW app.
This is the appeal letter I sent them and a claims specialist called, she never read this appeal and said per the contract we don’t cover replacements. Based on this, unless you communicate with service people in Northern Wisconsin, where everything is a hour away, an vet them to work with you I see this as a potential issue in the future for anything else we need evaluated. I don’t think they should have allowed Northern Wisconsin people to pay for their warranty if they don’t have vendors to do the job. I suggested it would be best for CHW to allow us to cancel our policy and refund the policy money, They only gave us a prorated amount of the cost we paid not the entire amount. They don’t intend to do what is right, they tend to use the contract as a way to not pay.

I have a warranty with Choice Home…

I have a warranty with Choice Home warranty. My heater is not working. I contacted them about a month ago to be sure it would be resolved by the cold weather. Well, it’s now 22’ and snowing and I don’t have heat! They kept rescheduling my service call, then a tech came out and attempted to work on unit for hour and half. He burnt the wires and told me he had to send someone else out with more experience on this unit. Then he disconnected so I would not have a fire. The next tech came by and sat outside in his van but never entered my home and determined unit had to be rewired so I was informed this was not covered. Now Choice and service company are both refusing to help. I am not able to find email for headquarters or CEO, but I wish to have a meeting . I’m in a wheelchair and it’s cold!

Worst warranty company

Worst warranty company! They find any reason to deny a claim. They collect your money and do not want to pay for repairs/replacement when claims are submitted by the homeowner.

Very Little went RIGHT

Very Little went RIGHT! We paid for a year's coverage beginning in Jan. of 2025and got a letter in late September of this year stating that we needed to renew our coverage before Oct or loose coverage despite the fact that our written agreement stated we were covered through January of 2026. We also had to get another company to cover our Hvac in July of 2025 after making 3 calls to Choice for coverage. They never got back to us. Then in September of 2025 we had a washer go bad and called for service to Choice and it took them 7 days to get back to us and when the independent contractor showed up, he had no tools-just excuses why he couldn't vacuum out the old water from the defunct washer so my husband had to provide his own shop vac and time and talent to vacuum it out and we still had to pay that contractor $75 dollars for a service call. All that guy did was take a few pictures of the washer and then did not submit them to Choice for 5 days because we called Choice to ask what was going to be done to honor our agreement and they stated they had not received any information from the contractor they had recommended. Finally, a week later Choice called to state that they were declaring the washer unfixable and were going to send us a Lowe's gift certificate for $400. We waited for a week and were using the local laundry mat to the tune of $12.00/day but then decided to just go and buy a washer at Lowe's and put the gift certificate toward it when it arrived from Choice. Meanwhile, one month later we still had no gift certificate. I finally called Choice and they said it would be online soon and 5 weeks after the original complaint it showed up. When we went to Lowe's to put the gift certificate toward the washer, we were told that we could not do that, that we could use it to buy $400 of something else at Lowe's! The outrage took over! I would advise no one to EVER purchase Choice Home Warranty!!

DO NOT GO WITH CHOICE HOME WARRANTY

DO NOT.... I REPEAT... DO NOT GO WITH CHOICE HOME WARRANTY!!!

THEY LOOK FOR WAYS TO DENY CLAIMS, EVEN IF WHAT IS SUBMITTED IS COVERED VERBATIM IN THE POLICY COVERAGE!!!

THEY REPEATEDLY REFUSED TO WORK WITH CLIENT TO ACCEPT PART OF THE CLAIM COVERED UNDER THE POLICY!!!

SO DISAPPOINTING.

BIGGEST SCAM COMPANY DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY

I would give this company ZERO STARS if there was an option for it. Our paid in full, fixed-term policy was set to expire 8/12/2025. We received ONE email 7/24/2025 stating that our policy was expiring and if we did not auto renew, by calling or doing so online, then it would expire and all our repair costs would be our responsibility. GREAT, we don't want to renew bc this company is ABSOLUTELY AWFUL AND IS THE BIGGEST SCAM. They harassed my husband with phone calls leading up to the 7/24/25 email, asking him if he would like to auto renew and he VERY CLEARLY told them NO I don't want it to renew, I want it canceled. idk how many of these phone calls he took but there were at least 2 on 7/21/25 and 7/23/25 where he had "recorded" conversations with reps telling them NO and we want the plan cancelled. Well fast forward to today 9/11/25 and my husband finds 2 $48 charges on our statement for CHW. One for 8/11/25 (which was a day before our supposed expiration date of our policy) and one for today 9/11/25. So of course, we call the company asking why we have the charges when we our policy has "supposedly" expired. The so-called "manager" we talked to for half an hour, stated that per their policy guidelines that since "we didn't select a preference for auto renewal" they were not going to refund our $96. While on the phone, we accessed our CHW account online and NO WHERE does it have an option for "saved preferences" on auto renewal, NOR did we ever get an correspondence telling use that if we didn't "select a preference" then our policy would auto renew to a monthly plan. Which is a total lie, because on the CHW website under FAQ the very last questions asked about auto-renewal and it states that
"Yes, the plan may be renewable.* In that event, you will be notified of the prevailing rate and terms of renewal." WHICH WE WERE NEVER NOTIFIED OF TERMS FOR RENEWAL. So they basically renewed it for us, EVEN THOUGH we expressed our immense desire TO HAVE IT CANCELLED. I think they just completely ignored our request in actually cancelling the policy. Which, while on the phone with the "manager" I pulled up our account and saw that new contract on their for the monthly billing which we never agreed to, and now after completing the call and OFFICIALLY getting our policy cancelled, the fraudulent policy was removed from our account. Basically meaning, CHW removed their negligence so it couldn't be used against them. I should have screenshotted when the contract was listed on there but I was rather distracted by the outrageous phone call we were experiencing. Now, technically we have no proof that they added their our contract to our account, but PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. You will be out thousands of dollars, your claims likely won't get accepted, if they do it is NOT in a timely manner, and CHW just says oh you have to take our word for it, bc when we asked them to show us the "numerous" emails they sent regarding the auto renewal they said they couldn't share that information which if they had already sent it to us in the first place they should be able to send it again. THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM, DO NOT USE THEM.

Similar thing happened more than once

Similar thing happened more than once. Tenants call for a problem with covered item. A local tech comes collects the initial fees, promises to come back and fix but never comes back. When contacted CHW's response is that they will follow up with the tech. But nothing happens. We end up hiring a company and pay out of pocket. CHW has been a disappointment! To put it mildly. I have few rental units with them. When my contracts are up I’m changing warranty company or do without it.

What goes right???

What went wrong this time? Let's try what goes wrong every time. Choice home warranties entire business model is based on burning the clock at customers expense. Spending a month or more to get it igniter for a GE oven because they will not allow their vendors to buy parts from other than a particular source it's just one example of why their entire business is geared to screw over those who rely on them. I've never had a claim take less than 2 weeks and I've had three claims take at least a month over the course of a year. That's unacceptable and definitely not worth what I paid. The actual chance of replacing a major piece of equipment is probably single digits, but I'm sure that if you're reading this you're already doing that kind of math anyway. The only, and I mean only, potential value would be for somebody who's selling or renting a property and wants to give potential buyers or renters the illusion of additional security. I'll never use them again and I encourage anybody who reads this to do the same.

Update CHW Review

To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing a review  to formally address my recent experience with Choice Home Warranty regarding clarification on policy coverages and subsequent unresolved issues. After reaching out for information, I received a callback from an individual identified as a resolution specialist. Unfortunately, this interaction left a negative impression due to the specialist’s condescending attitude and frequent interruptions, especially when I attempted to ask important questions about our contracts.

During the conversation, I was promised that the coverage policy would be sent to my email, as previously assured by the HCW sales representative. I agreed to postpone canceling my purchase until I had the opportunity to review the policy documents. However, as of August 18, 2025, I have still not received any email correspondence or the promised documents.

To reiterate, we purchased two contracts on August 8, 2025, and have been waiting for both email confirmation and the contracts/policies to be sent for our review. Today is August 18, 2025, and we remain without any of the necessary information. The time window for review has now closed.
I respectfully request that, if HCW is reading this complaint, you proceed to cancel both of my contracts and issue a full refund for my purchases.

Regards,
PG

Update 08/26/2025
As expected Choices Home Warranties is MIA in responding to this review and also emailed. CHW if your are reading this, refund my purchase in full as I have requested a cancellation with 30 days of purchase. I’ve also notified my financial institutions to disputes the charged as you failed to respond to my request or concerned.

My Choice Home Warranty Policy - slow response, waste of money

As much as I don't like writing these sorts of things, I have found Choice Home Warranty's service and value to be of no value to me, based on my only two claims.

One of my claims was a real emergency yet the response time took nearly two days to simply hear from a live person about setting up a diagnosis . In order to prevent sewage from backing up into my house I had to act and as a result, incurred $3700 of out of pocket expense.

I was hoping Choice might help with this but it was denied outright. I would have thought it at least was worthy of some consideration or escalation given the situation.

More recently my AC went out in 90*+ heat. As of mid-afternoon the day following when I made the claim, the only response received was yet another automated sorry for the delay emails. Once again, very sluggish response time and of no help.

Funny thing is there were such great reviews regarding service and value before I bought the policy but my experience has been that I have not received any value whatsoever.

I am considering cancelling my policy and have left messages and my phone number for a call back, as I was instructed to do by customer service, but has not yet happened.

And so it goes....

Claim Denial Loophole

Choice Home Warranty – Beware of “Preexisting Condition” Loophole
Coverage started July 25, 2025. Just two days later, my pool filter housing cracked and leaked. I submitted a claim right away.
Their response? Claim denied as “preexisting.” This was not preexisting — it happened after coverage began.
If you’re searching for Choice Home Warranty reviews or wondering is Choice Home Warranty worth it, my answer is no. Read the fine print before buying.

STAY AWAY and be aware...

They are VERY good at selling their plans but when you actually have an issue, good luck!!! I wanted to cancel last year and I should have.. On 07/21 my A/C stopped cooling, I submitted a claim, on 07/22 at night I received a work order scheduled for 07/31... I called in asking if it was an error... my claim had been assigned to another Homer Services company. The person I spoke with re-assigned my claim which then got cancelled.. I then asked for the list of their technicians to call them and schedule the appointment myself and was told it was not possible, I then asked to cancel my policy and was also told it was not possible and that I will be getting a call back.. the lady then was very understanding and told me to pick the Technician of my choice, to submit the diagnostic and that I will get reimbursed..the link stated the approval comes within 10 min. The diagnostic was sent a 1pm, at 2pm there was still no reply so we decided with the tech to do the bare minimum to get my unit up and running again. I called Home Choice twice.. I was told verbally my claim had been approved but then when I got a chat message, not even a proper response via email, less than 10% of the total amount and less than what I paid was covered. I called again and was pretty much told this is how it is .. would I have gotten the approval sooner,, my decision on what to repair first such would have been different. They took no accountability and told me there was nothing they could do. I asked them to cancel my membership then and they told me if I was to terminate it today, I will not get my promised reimbursement.. so now I am stuck, with half of the repairs done, not being able to cancel my membership and having money out of pocket.. all of that due to their negligence, false promises and lack of professionalism... STAY AWAY. ah and I forgot to mention, they automatically increase my monthly payment by 22%... I only had one claim last year. A total rip off. It is like speaking with Robots.
