Pet transport from Spain to Bristol - kind and calming

In a nutshell : "The cats were really calm when they arrived. Overall, Keith was faultless and extremely approachable." but be warned the government info on documents can get very frustrating and time-consuming depending on your circumstances.

This is a group review as the journey made by orphaned kitties Autumn and Willow from Spain to Bristol was a team effort. I booked Calagran after an excellent experience with them in 2023 moving with my own cats from London to North East England. Again, their communications and kitty care were excellent and Keith the driver was brilliant (more of that later). However, due to international bureaucracy there were extreme challenges finding information on the UK government website and in Spain. So BE WARNED - if you're not travelling with your own animals or within 5 days of their journey, things can very complicated with the International Health Certificate that's needed *in addition* to the pet passports.
So, the journey was very good - It took three days and two nights with safety stops in Keith's Mercedes Vito and overnight stays in pet-friendly hotels when he could let the girls out of their carriers and explore the hotel room securely. Along the way he spent time talking with them on meal and refuelling stops. Before the journey, I'd sent a list of logistics questions to Jess and Jules and all of them were answered fully. On departure day, Sheree, one of the cats' carers, was met early by Keith and said the two crates were secured in the van for a safe trip. On arrival in Bristol, Gavin and Richard said the girls were very calm and relaxed and that Keith stayed with them for 20 minutes to settle them into their new home.
From Gavin and Richard, their adopters : "Keith was great! He kept me informed of his whereabouts and also informed me of how the cats were coping with the journey. They eventually arrived, very calm and relaxed. Keith had already given them plenty of food and they had a few treats when they arrived in Bristol. Keith gave me all their documentation and also advised what food they had been eating. Overall, Keith was faultless and extremely approachable."
"The cats were really calm when they arrived. Keith was very nice and he stayed with us for about twenty minutes, to settle the cats in. The cages were very spacious and there was plenty of water for both cats."
"Please pass on my comments of how impressed we were with their speed, and communication. I would have no hesitation in recommending them again."
Keith has said the girls had been brilliant and a pleasure to transport which I think is also testament to his good care of them and kindness. Thanks Keith!
It's a bespoke service with DEFRA approved vehicles and no other animals on board. The alternative van transport from a local firm in Spain often used by charities was a fraction of the cost but could have included many more passengers. This trip cost £3500 and was a calm three days in crates inside a vehicle, not a cat's favourite place at any time.
