I’ve bought a handful of bottles from Ben in the past. He’s reliable via email and he does have great prices, however I recently bought a 98 Giacosa Riserva (not a cheap bottle at all) and was very disappointed upon opening to find that it was heat damage. When I told Ben, he said it must’ve been a “so so bottle.” I understand that’s the gamble with old cellar sourced wines, however given the utter lack of sympathy, I can’t trust that the cellars Ben acquires are reliable. It wasn’t just a “so so bottle.” It was undrinkable. For close to $400 (and that’s just one bottle in my order!) I would’ve expected more than just sympathy.

Ben was great to work with and got me wine for my husband's birthday. He was even away on vacation but still responded to my questions and made sure we got the package on time.

Order shipment promised for Thursday. Order did not ship until Monday. No tracking or shipment confirmation provided, just a receipt for my credit card being charged a shipping fee. Scrambling for a last minute Valentines Day gift for the wife as the wine will not arrive on time.
