I have had a great experience with CashApp! However a few questions remain. 1. Why is it able to only one linked bank account? This ties my hands at times. 2. After reading the review summary, I’m... See more

Just like Chime they reel you in making false promises that they don't keep. Cash App says "Spend $500 on your cash card and get Green status. Then you can borrow $500. A Green Lie. Due to the upcoming holiday I've been out all day buying food and having clothes. I've spent over $500 making sure my family enjoys the 4th of July. Now that I went over my budget thinking I could borrow $500 I've found that the whole thing was a lie. I'll be closing the account and real soon.

This review outlines multiple procedural failures in Cash App’s dispute process and identifies compliance risks that require immediate internal escalation. It must be read alongside my separate Trustpilot review of Famous.ai, as the merchant’s public statements directly contradict the evidence Cash App relied upon.
I. Unauthorized Activity and Block Circumvention
On Feb 20, 2026, I blocked Famous.ai due to repeated unauthorized $144.20 attempts. Cash App’s own logs show continued attempts after the block (Feb 28–Mar 8), including charges routed through alternate merchant IDs.
This constitutes block circumvention, which Cash App failed to detect or address.
II. Cash App Previously Flagged Deal.ai as Fraud — Jan 8
On Jan 8 at 12:28 PM, Cash App declined a Deal.ai transaction “for my protection.”
Cash App’s fraud system had already identified Deal.ai as a risk.
This is a critical compliance data point.
III. Cash App Denied My Famous.ai Dispute Using Evidence From Deal.ai
On Mar 27, Cash App denied my Famous.ai dispute based solely on an IP match.
On Apr 5, Cash App provided the evidence packet used to justify the denial — and it was for Deal.ai, not Famous.ai.
The packet includes:
Merchant: DEALAI INC
Website: Deal.ai
Product: “Subscription update”
No subscription ID
My exact email
Timestamp: Mar 8, 2026
Cash App denied a Famous.ai dispute using evidence from a merchant previously flagged as fraudulent.
This is a material investigative error.
IV. Merchant Publicly Misrepresented Their Ability to Locate My Account
Famous.ai publicly stated they “cannot locate” any account associated with me.
This is disproven by their own evidence packet submitted to Cash App, which contains:
My exact email
My Famous.ai profile
My account creation timestamp
This is documented merchant deception, which Cash App failed to consider.
V. Merchant Attempted to Suppress My Review
Famous.ai repeatedly flagged my review, resulting in its removal for nearly a month.
Trustpilot later confirmed I violated no guidelines and restored the review immediately.
The merchant has a pattern of flagging negative reviews and maintains an unverified business status.
Cash App disregarded this behavioral evidence.
VI. Cash App Support Acknowledged the Investigation Was Flawed
Multiple Cash App representatives acknowledged:
the evidence used does not match the disputed Famous.ai transaction
the merchant circumvented my block using alternate merchant IDs
the “subscription update” claim contradicts the merchant’s own admin panel
the merchant publicly misrepresented their ability to locate my account
the investigation was incomplete and required human review
These acknowledgments directly contradict the denial issued by Cash App’s dispute team.
VII. Regulatory Escalation: DFPI → CFPB → FTC
DFPI and CFPB complaints were filed.
CFPB reviewed the case, accepted my rebuttal, and forwarded the matter to the FTC for inclusion in their law‑enforcement database — a step reserved for cases indicating systemic merchant abuse or deficiencies in a financial institution’s dispute‑handling procedures.
VIII. Summary of Compliance Failures
Cash App:
relied on evidence from the wrong merchant
relied on evidence from a merchant previously flagged as fraudulent
relied solely on an IP match
ignored post‑block attempts
ignored block circumvention
ignored merchant identity mismatch
ignored contradictions in the merchant’s own admin panel
ignored documented merchant deception
ignored internal support acknowledgments
ignored Reg E investigative requirements
ignored DFPI, CFPB, and FTC escalation
ignored timestamps proving the wrong merchant was used
This constitutes a procedurally deficient investigation with clear compliance implications.
Final Notice to Cash App’s Compliance Team
A complete review requires examining:
this review
my Famous.ai review
the Jan 8 Deal.ai fraud block
the Mar 8 Deal.ai evidence packet
the merchant’s public “cannot locate account” statement
the evidence packet containing my exact email
the DFPI complaint
the CFPB complaint and rebuttal
the FTC forwarding notice
Your denial cannot be reconciled with the documented record.
If these materials were reviewed, the denial is indefensible.
If they were not reviewed, the investigation was incomplete and non‑compliant.
Finally, an IP match does not establish authorization.
My Feb 20 block of Famous.ai revoked all future authorization.
Cash App closed the investigation after receiving an IP match from a merchant previously blocked for fraud, disregarding extensive evidence — including evidence stored on Cash App’s own servers.
This is not a dispute error.
It is a compliance failure.

I used Cashapp for years had Green Status and was able to borrow up to 500$. I woke up day before yesterday to a deactivated account and a VoT notice. I started researching immediately to find what may have happened as it states I was flagged in the investing dept but was given no reason what or how I had violated said terms. I found that Cash App was using AI generative software to monitor their customers and would take action against said customers if AI flagged and reported you as they are not obligated to monitor thier systems but if the AI bots said you are doing some nefarious activity it must be so. The AI flags patterns though, patterns it deems to be risk of some sort. The problem in my case is I've only purchased at the most 3 stocks and resold them rather quickly just experimenting with investing. I've moved bitcoin between wallets and even been paid in bitcoin in rather small amounts but mostly just moved it in my wallets also in experimenting with investing and my returns are in the negative but that just means Im not all that good at investing . If Cashapp provided clear transparent reasons which Im not entirely certain the AI is providing the necessary data for its reason for action taken so cashapp just gives the catch all answer even after appeal that you VoTs. There might not be a exponentially large growing group of people experiencing very similar situations that I've been reading about and unfortunately a subject of now If appeals actually were appeals and not just a
regurgitation response one AI feeds another.

Customer service was no help after paying back loan and the amount to borrow was lowered without notification which complicated my financial situation. They acted very cold and unhelpful.

absolutely ridiculous and rude as heck. not helpful at all, had a terrible attitude, and then said “are you in the car? okay bye.” and hung up. super scammy, won’t be using cashapp again.

Faithfully used Cash App for my business for a few years. Logged into my account and to my surprise Cash App deactivated both accounts for “violating terms of service”! Literally done nothing to violate the agreement! After an appeal and a few phone calls, all I was told was to read their terms of service. No one could explain to me why my account was deactivated. After reaching out to social media to see if anyone else had experienced this, I found there were many people that had. I think it’s very unprofessional that your customer service representatives cannot explain why the accounts are randomly disabled for no apparent reason! You make money off consumers only to treat them as if they are nothing! Bad business for sure!

I will recommend million times🫂

One of the must awful experiences I’ve ever had with a company. They restricted our account and made the business verification process very difficult. After speaking with people, everyone has provided a different answer. This has been a huge inconvenience and I utterly cannot believe they make it so hard to do business with them.

their support are so bad. they cant do what they say, i keep getting fraudulent charges they refuse to fix the problem. they lie over and over. so i closed my account.

My account was affected by an information subpoena, and instead of responding only to the legal request, Cash App froze my entire account and has refused to let me access my own funds for over three months. An information subpoena is a request for information—it does not automatically require an account freeze. Yet Cash App chose to lock my funds without providing a clear explanation or timeline.
What has been even more frustrating is the customer service. I’ve called multiple times, and each time I was told, “Your account will be fully restored within seven days.” Every single time, that promise came and went with no action, no update, and no explanation. I kept getting the same answer over and over, but nothing ever changed.
If there is a legal reason to restrict an account, customers deserve honest communication. Instead, I received repeated assurances that turned out to be inaccurate while my money remained inaccessible.
Freezing a customer’s funds for months without meaningful updates or transparent communication is unacceptable. I expected much better from a financial services company.

CashApp is an unfair not true to their word on customer satisfactions. My Account was deactivated because of Violating there Terms and Policies. A called and opened a case. They got back to me and denied reopening my case but would NOT tell me what this issue was. Eventually they said Fraud but I had not used my account for 3 weeks prior. I did NOT see any Fraud I did at all. I seen a guy did a Group Cancer request for Cancer Treatment but I did NOT give money! That has nothing to do with me. They will NOT honestly explain to you what exactly happened. That is not Fair Business Practices. I would have preferred to use it since I have had it so long and only did small CASH APP transactions! I escalated my complaint and they said they had head the same thing from several customers. Definitely should NOT be in Business, I truly Dislike them now! Beware they are liars.

Cash App is a complete hoax of a banking system and I knew it was going down hill when they merged with Afterpay. There customer service is AI run and they refuse to have phone calls with anyone and have no escalation channels. They say you're dealing with real people but the responses on emails are auto generated and half the time have the same template instructions with different names used to respond. Most customer support cases are supposed to be handled by one individual not multiple people or AI bots. And even if you request management they say there is none. The BBB isn't much better. If you have numerous, separate complaints about a business that people have the right to know about you are only allowed one complaint and can't amend any previous complaints, which let's me know businesses are now paying BBB to lessen the valid complaints against these businesses. This all started because I just needed a simple name change and after repeatedly providing cash app with what they needed they said they still needed the same information resent. This is over the course of MONTHS. Just repeating myself over and over again. A normal bank you can walk into and get this done in 30 minutes cash app, however, is not helpful at all. This is on top of transactions holds that were not released and money was stolen from me or cash app charges fees that have not been properly disclosed and changing how accounts recieve different statues on deposits. And don't let yourself have a dispute with a business because you WILL need to get a lawyer involved to resolve anything. Just unhelpful and frustrating. Do not bank with this company. Just go get a standard account elsewhere. If you cant then I recommend your local credit union or credit karma who has better support by leaps and bounds and you can actually CALL someone.

After four years of using the app and my CashCard, I was notified that my card was being canceled and I was unable to order a new one. I called customer service and they weren't able to give me any reason why it happened; they just said I had "violated their terms of service". They would not give me any more specific information other than that, and I wasn't able to dispute the violation or take it to a higher authority and have my case reexamined. I was aghast. I still have no idea why this happened. I had heard CashApp horror stories from friends before (never keep too much money in your account because if it gets hacked and stolen CashApp won't do anything to help and your money is as good as gone; their customer service is crap; etc., etc., etc.) and so I always used it with caution. Thank God I never kept much money in my account because I'd have been in quite the pickle if I couldn't use my account to shop anywhere and still had money in it! I would not recommend this app to anyone. The reason they have so many 5 star reviews is because they hound their users to leave a review here and keep asking you to until you actually do it. The only way to have that annoying "have you had a good experiencce with us? Rate us today!" pop up window stop hounding you is if you finally just click it and leave a review. I don't doubt that most of the 5 star reviews are solely due to people just wanting that dumb pop up window to stop bugging them every time they open their CashApp app.
EDIT: (Added after reading CashApp’s reply to my review.) The generic reply they sent me just told me to contact CashApp customer support. I already have, many MANY times. As I explained in my review, THEY WERE NO HELP WHATSOEVER. So suggesting that again is ZERO help. My one star review stays.

I have had no complaints about Cash App in the last thirteen years I have done business with them but this new tacky style of ur loan date being due at 830a in the morning is offensive, tacky greedy, childish and very unprofessional especially when you have customers who have nvr bn late to pay back the loan w/interest with no time constraints but, I always wind up paying them back first thing in the morning but this particular morning, i am wtg on my check to drop due to sm technical difficulties n once back up I can then have access to it and I am dealing with cash apps unneccessary tactics one being they just grabbed a small amout of money I had there wtg for a bill to be paid through them and now I stand like a criminal, a thief wtg for my check while my account is marked with account overdue on the due date not a past due date really!!!!!!

I have been regularly requesting money from an individual since March 2026. This money is owed to me. My last request for payment from him, I accidentally hit pay. I immediately tried to cancel and reached out to customer service to get it cancelled. They have denied my request AND appeal. I have 13 previous requests for payment from the individual for the same amount and provided proof that the individual admitted to owing the money. I will never use CashApp again. They're unreasonable when it comes to a simple mistake.

I sent money via Cash App to a person/business for a product I NEVER received. Reached out to the business after they told me they would refund my money to no avail. Filed a complaint with Cash App - they stated they investigated, but could not verify I was scammed/victim of fraud. Beware who/what your purchase on Cash App as they will NOT reimburse you.

I have been with cash app for more than 11 years. The company used to be good. Now, as of late, for the last 2 years every few months they Hold my money in Pending and do not let it go for several months without explanation. When one tries to find out what is wrong, all that is there to respond is AI. They keep you in a loop on Purpose, so that they can keep your money. They do not ever ask for more documentation or anything further, to move things along to resolution either. They don't care. It's as if they want to keep you in Pending mode so they never have to pay you. How long legally can they hold your money? I'll be checking with an attorney next. I know they had a class action lawsuit and settlement as a result. Looks like it's time for a new one. Right NOW I have 1150 that is being held as pending since APRIL 1, 2026. I have yet to hear from ANYONE about why. Imagine that, in this time of the economy. Be Safe, DO NOT USE CASH APP.
