Excellent range of products at good prices. The roof bars I ordered arrived very promptly. By bad luck they were missing the locking keys. But a quick and helpful dialogue with the customer team meant I received the replacement keys in just a couple of days with minimum fuss. Excellent service backing up great prtoduct. Very happy!

I ordered some roof bars and two bike racks for what seemed a very reasonable price. The website operates under a .co.uk domain, displays all prices in GBP, and the only address provided for the company on the website is a London one. I was incredibly surprised, therefore, to receive a notification stating that the products had been shipped internationally. I subsequently, therefore, received a notification that customs and import handling charges were due, to the tune of £110, on top of my original order cost. Furthermore, the company had split my order in two, which meant that not only were some of these charges duplicated, but also that they appear to be in contravention of UK tax law, since neither shipment individually met the threshold above which they do not need to account for VAT at the point of sale. There was absolutely no indication at the point of sale that the order would be shipped internationally and be liable for these additional charges, which constitutes a clear misrepresentation of terms and a breach of contract. I refused to accept the charges, and insisted that the order be returned to the company. Upon my initial contact with them to explain this, they ignored the main content of my complaint, which was as set out above, and suggested that they would attempt to redeliver the goods when they received them back. The only thing I can offer to their credit in this interaction is that when I challenged this position, and insisted upon a refund, they actioned it immediately. I am shocked that this company has been allowed to continue trading in this misleading manner, with clear disregard for their customers.

Carracks.co.uk turns out to have nothing to do with the UK, it is an Irish company based in Dublin so don't expect its promoted 'fast delivery' to be what anyone would consider fast in the 21st century. Carracks is a front for mick's garage in Dublin, place an order one day, if you are lucky it is dispatched the next and then takes at least three or four working days to arrive. Fast delivery is in reality a minimum of a week. Won't be using again.

I bought NorDrive roof bars and fittings for my old car a few years ago from the NorDrive dealer, Mick's Garage which appears to be the same company as Car Racks. No issues at all and I was very satisfied with all aspects of the transaction, i.e. competitive price, good quality, good user information / fitting instructions and quick & easy to fit.
I have recently replaced the old car and needed to purchase compatible roof bars and fittings to attach them to the standard roof rails on the new vehicle. I ordered online from Car Racks and was very happy with the service from start to finish. The website is extremely informative and easy to use. It lets you select the correct roof bars and fittings for your make and model of car which is essential given the wide range of different types available.
Ordering was easy and the price was competitive. Delivery was very quick; within 4 working days which is amazing considering their warehouse is located in the Republic of Ireland. They must have a remarkably efficient logistics operation!
Just one extra point that's also been reported by another reviewer: Car Racks UK is owned by Mick's Garage which is actually located in Southern Ireland so their stock is despatched from OUTSIDE the UK. I didn't experience any negative aspects as a result, however the previous reviewer had to pay import duty on their order. (Perhaps my order total was under the threshhold for customs duty.)
So I feel they should maybe be a bit more transparent with that information and state that although they appear to be registered in the UK, their parent company (Mick's Garage) ISN'T so import duties and other delivery issues (i.e. delays) may be experienced... However, that criticism aside, I have nothing but positive feedback to offer!

No problems with this company, found a paddleboard on online search. Roughly £30 cheaper than alternative companies. Although, had to pay £69 in customs charges as the company is based in Ireland and it was shipped over to the UK. The item ended up costing me more than if I had ordered elsewhere (my own fault as delivery had said free and hadn’t realised location of company).

IMPORT TAXES
Although the website is [co.uk] the roof rack I purchased came from the Republic of Ireland and I ended up with a hefty bill for the import taxes and handling fees from Royal Mail. Considered not accepting it but read reviews about nightmare scenarios where replies were far and few when other people tried to contact the company. Decided to to the hit as I was going to be out of pocket either way.
AVOID AT ALL COST

The product was fine and sent out in good time. Unfortunately what the company does not mention is that their products are shipped from Ireland and can incur sizeable import fees. Nowhere on the uk website does it give you this information. The first you’ll hear about it is when Royal Mail tell you that you have import fees to pay. I think this company is ruining its reputation by not being honest with its UK customers. My experience was disappointing and if I’d known about the additional fees, I’d have shopped somewhere else.

There online set up was easy and straight forward , delivery was fast kept in the loop every step , roof rack took about 45 min to out together instructions were straight forward , even easier to get in and off car once figured out set up , great purchase will defo use this company again !

Only place I could find the right roof rack for my little Volvo.

Item arrived in roughly a week.

Shipped from Southern Ireland but there were no extra fees for importing.

Item was competitively priced compared to the Volvo website, about 1/3 of the Volvo price.

Good bars at a good price compared to others. Added two uprights and just back from 300 mile round trip with two sit on kayaks on the roof. Delivery as stated. Would use again.

Excellent service, very quick delivery and the roof bars are of a very high quality. Perfect for attaching the roof box to the car safely and securely.

I got scammed. Their addressed (.co.uk) implies they are in the uk but in fact they are in the Republic of Ireland. After I placed my order I heard nothing for a week then got a request for payment of over £70 by Royal Mail for costumes. Had to pay it in order to get my Thule Roof Bars. Buy from a true british company to avoid false economy and long delays.

Avoid carracks.co.uk like the plague. The item ships from Ireland and you will have to pay UK customs fees, I’ve just had to pay £80 to Royal Mail to get the item released from customs. It appears to be a UK website with no mention that it will ship from outside the UK and that you will have to pay extra fees. I am reporting to Trading Standards. Do yourself a favour and buy from somewhere else. Anywhere else would be better.

What car racks don't tell you on their Ebay site is they are based in Dublin and I had to pay an extra £64 import tax to get delivery as it was held by royal mail. So I ended up paying more for my roofrack from Micks Garage than I would of done from Halfords online and waited 2 weeks from ordering to delivery. Apart from that the Tule roof rack was an absolute doddle to fit.
