Overpriced, overpromised - preys on your hopes and dreams
I signed up with Careersprout 2+ years ago in hopes of leveraging the team's expertise in helping me land a better job. I was in a good position, but I felt stuck and felt that my efforts weren't getting me anywhere so I decided to invest in an extra push.
From looking at Gaurav's content on LinkedIn, as well as the glowing reviews on the website - I thought it was worth the shot, even though it was extremely expensive - a $9,800 USD investment.
What I received was far less than what I thought I would be getting. I was under the impression the program was going to be a white glove service that catered to each individual's needs to create an ideal profile curated for that person.
Instead - you get put through a very surface level "coaching" - I had a total of five or so different meetings with their team - one with a resume writer to re-write my resume (which was very surface level and didn't draw out the impact I had created), one with Katie to review the program, and maybe one or two sessions with Gaurav.
The rest of the program is just videos on LinkedIn marketing strategy and how to filter LinkedIn to find hiring managers. All of the stuff you get on this platform you can get for $20 a month using Claude or any other LLM these days.
When I saw what I was paying for - I was frustrated and reached out to the team for a refund. The team never engaged with me to even have a discussion on this, and actually changed their policies to reflect a strict no refund policy no matter what.
I reached out to some other people who had signed up for the program and many of them expressed the same frustrations that I had - some even joking about filing a class action lawsuit against their predatory marketing schemes.
I think overall - the business is built on fake relationship building. On the surface and on LinkedIn, Gaurav seems extremely trustworthy and someone that looks like they have great intentions in helping people grow their career journies. Whether this is true or not, I don't know - but I am sure this is part of their marketing tactics.
All I know is for myself - this money could have been used to support my family through a difficult time in my life, but I trusted in Gaurav and his team and received something very different overall.
Again - stay away, ChatGPT or Claude can do everything his team promises - Katie and Danielle on his team left the business this year probably cuz of guilt or something else, but I want to do my part in making sure this person never gets any other business again.
