Review summary

Based on reviews, created with AI

Most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people were dissatisfied with the pricing, often finding unexpected fees and high interest rates that made the service deceptively expensive. Customers also frequently reported issues with payment application, noting that payments were often applied to the lowest balances first, rather than those expiring soonest, leading to unexpected interest charges. The customer service was widely criticized for being unhelpful, with long wait times, agents who struggled with English comprehension, and a general unwillingness to resolve issues or take accountability for errors. Some people were satisfied with the service, mentioning that it helped them cover significant medical expenses, such as vet bills, and appreciated the option to pay over time with no interest if the balance was paid in full within the promotional period. However, even these positive experiences were sometimes overshadowed by later issues with account management or unexpected charges.

Made up charges & accounts...never had…

Made up charges & accounts...never had a $500 charge yet one appeared on a 2nd account that I never opened. Disgusting company.
They are owned by Synchrony. I have been disputing for many months. My credit was over 800 before Carecredit. All my other accounts are perfect and never tried to rip me off like Carecredit did

Stay away if you can

Stay away if you can! It took over 6 people until I finally spoke with the last person on why I can’t use my card. There agents in the fraud department are rude and one agent hung up on me after I told him I wanted to speak with a supervisor. I spoke with Amber and she was helpful at first an at the end was not helpful couldn’t even figure out why I can’t use my card. She said there isn’t much I can do.. so I told her so just wait for my account to close then since u can do anything or figure out the reason..All she said was I can transfer u back to customer service… so she did… and the last agent I spoke with if I can give her 5 stars I would. She explained to me why I couldn’t use my card and explained to me it’s listed hear on ur account… I got transferred all over the places and spent over 2 hours waiting…. Horrible customer service. At the end of all this I’m glad I didn’t use the card and glad my account will be canceling on the 16th of April… because who wants to deal with customer service like that… as a customer I sure wouldn’t… if u don’t like ur job as customer service then get a new job then..

Can't contact anyone. On line statement is terrible and does not show my payments. Also charged me a late fee when not late. In truing to Use their promotional no interest offer, can't tell by their statement when I have paid in full to avoid interest charges. How can I get confirmation of paid in full from them? Veterinarian recommended them not knowing their reputation. They will now!

I had taken out credit with care care… what a huge mistake

I had taken out credit with care credit. $6,000+ was used for hardware for implants. One week after getting the credit I was let go from my job, meaning I could not afford the other $6,000+ to get the work done. I had the 12 month interest free plan. A month or so before the 12 months was ending, I requested an extension as I still had not found a job and they gave me one, which should have been good through the summer of 2026. I had a little over $300 out of the $12,000 left to pay off and next thing I know the bill is now $3,300+. I called and after an hour was put through to a supervisor who finally said if I paid $750 before April 2nd, they would wipe out the interest. I agreed. I even called back to make sure that notes were left and was told they were. On March 31st I went to pay the remainder and was told that there is no such thing in the notes and I need to pay the $3,300+. I was also told the calls were recorded and said "great, let's get the calls. They will show exactly what was said". I was put on hold and about ten minutes later, the lady came back and said the recorded call did not show what I said, but did show that they told me I had to pay the entire amount. This is simply not true. Also, how was she able to get my recorded call that quickly? I am going to call back today and see if I can get my hands on the recorded calls. this is not okay. I have still not been able to find a job. Imagine thinking you owe a bit over $300 and suddenly you owe $3,300+.

Their website is awful

Their website is awful. You cannot access charges on the card for any decent period of time, like the previous year for tax purposes and you can’t access rewards points records. The points expire after two years but there is no way to see when the points were acquired

Awful Company. Awful Customer Service. Stay Away!

I used to have an account with these people, I used it for vet bills as well as dental expenses. I had this account for a while and was very up to date on payments. I never missed a payment. Suddenly, two years ago, I found out I no longer have access to credit. I spoke to someone to try and figure this out, I tell them I've never missed a payment and they told me that because I turned auto pay off, they took my credit away. This is absolutely BS. What does auto pay have to do with keeping a line of credit? Anyway, I continue to make payments, with auto pay on to not cause any issues. Suddenly the payments stop. I went to my account to sign in and naturally I forgot my password. I click "forgot password" and it takes me to a different screen, where I'm prompted to put in my account number, now I don't have this memorized, so I go to the chat bot and try to speak my concerns there. The chat bot doesn't work and no matter how many sentences I put in. The same message pops up "oops looks like my wires got crossed. What to try that again?" This company is very disappointing. As well as their partner Synchrony who is just as disappointing. If you wish to open a line of credit, save yourself the grief and go to literally anyone else.

Care credit is a scam

Care credit is a scam, they are funded by Syncrony. They use deferred interest and once the promotional period ends you’re hit with thousands of dollars in interest. It's designed so that you never finish paying the card off. Every time I get close to paying it down, outrageous interest charges appear. I’ve lost over $4k because of this. Avoid CareCredit and do not bank with Synchrony.

Be very careful with this company

Be very careful with this company. I was in the middle of a dental procedure (4 sessions). I had a $2200 credit limit. Out of nowhere I got letter from them saying my credit limit dropped to $850 even though I had already charged over $1400 to the Dentist. The whole bill came to over $2000 leaving me scrambling to find the rest of the money. I closed my account immediately and paid them off. I have never had a credit card company do that to me. I never missed a payment. I am not the kind to argue or complain, I just will never use them again.

If I could give them 0 stars I would

If I could give them 0 stars I would. I used them in the past and they were great. Now they are greedy and charge interest from the second you use the card and even after you pay your account off in full. I would never use this card again-in fact I cancelled my account.
I am so disappointed in their service and attitude. Pay with a credit car-get points and balance transfer if you can.
Care Credit does not care and just hurts your credit.

They do NOT take care of their customers + clients!!!!!!!!!!

I recently had to dispute a charge because a vet promised a service but did not provide it. Care Credit let the PROVIDER decide if they wanted to refund me or not. Of course, the provider would not refund me (they literally took $500 and didnt offer half the shit they said they would) and Care Credit did nothing. Whats the point of offering a "dispute" if you aren't going to make the decision as a company? Who the hell gives the provider the choice?? I've never EVER met a company that acts this way. What a joke when it comes to their dispute process. I will be paying my bill off and closing this joke of a card.

No Warning, No Help, No Care! Loyal Customer, Zero Support……

CareCredit is extremely disappointing and misleading.

After my job shut down and my hours were cut, I reached out for basic help — just a temporary reduced payment. I’ve NEVER missed a payment and have always paid on time, yet they offered zero support.

Instead, they reduced my credit limit from $5,000 to $3,000 without any warning. I only found out after checking my account. This happened right after I paid off $2,000, which feels completely unfair and deceptive.

This company does not care about its customers. There is no flexibility, no understanding, and no effort to help people during real financial hardship.

If you expect support from a company during tough times, don’t expect it here.

"BUYER BEWARE...NOT CUSTOMER FOCUSED"

I have had CareCredit on two other occasions a few years ago and that went well. This time I see why they are rated so terribly low. My situation resulted from a situation between Care Credit and my bank from a payment I made online. The money was in the bank, but there was a discrepancy regarding a routing number (not my mistake) between the bank and CareCredit. However, they charged me a returned check fee of $30. I called and talked to 3 individuals and we came to the conclusion it was not my fault but a miscommunication between them and my bank because the payment was later credited to my account. However, Care Credit and Synchony Bank REFUSED to remove the $30 or credit my account for the $30. In all honesty, I now understand why their reviews are so low and negative. All I can say is "buyer beware." I do not have any faith in this company that they appreciate their customers and I will not do business with or recommend Synchrony Bank or Care Credit Credit.

Terrible customer service

Customer service did not even know what CVS was and asked me to spell it several times C.V.S. I was very surprised at their lack of knowledge. Thought I'd try asking about Walgreens and received the same response, "What is that? can you spell it again."
I give up! Worse customer service ever!

You people are impossible to deal with. Contacted you multiple times trying to get my account set up. I got conflicting information. I think this is done on purpose to collect late fees. If you are thinking of using Care Credit DON'T.

Avoid them at all costs!!

My first few payments payments processed fine, no trouble. Then my bank account got hacked, so I contacted Care Credit to give them the new information. It was all downhill from there. Whether it was because the customer service representatives didn't truly speak English, or they hesitated to clarify when they did not understand me, or they were simply making repeated errors, but they could not seem to write the new account information correctly, and my payments started being rejected. I called and tried at least two more times to get my account information corrected, but to no avail. The CSRs were polite, but totally unable to get the job done. Next I mailed a check for payment. That worked, although it was several weeks before the check cleared my bank. I then decided to finish paying the balance so I would not have to deal with them, but that check was never credited. I opened a dispute, and after a number of weeks Synchrony Bank, who runs the Care Credit program, said they never received it. So today I called to give them my debit card number, and three things happened. One, In listening to information about my account, I heard a) that the check I had written to completely pay off the balance had been credited, and b) that I still owe that exact same amount. Not possible.
And two, the machine would.not.connect me to a human. We went in circles for several minutes. Finally I hung up.
I am So Done with Care Credit and Synchrony Bank! If I could leave zero stars, I would.

One of the worst scamming companies out there

They are most certainly one of the worst companies I've ever dealt with. I received no resolution with customer service nor the manager that took over afterwards. I was paying $200 to $400 a month month a charge that was made in December of 2024. I was told if I didn't pay off this $1,300 by January of 2016 then I would incur penalties. Why are they trying to charge me a charge of $395, and also $85 within the same month of February saying I never paid it off. There is proof that I have paid it off. I don't even understand what is going on. How could they possibly say I haven't paid it off and charged me an additional $500. I have reported them to the better Business bureau and I hope that they go out of business soon because they are the worst company ever

I have used care credit for 8 years only using for vet bills.
I always use their convient pay by phone.
For some reason wasn't taking my payment but the I remembered I changed my phone number .
I called care credit costumer service to make payment and to change phone number.
They text me a code to my phone which i received and repeated to the man.
He then stated in order for me to change my number. They would send me a link and I would have to take a picture of myself holding in his words a state I.D.
I closed my account.
