Packtalk Edge Duo..Presentation Woes

Recently purchased a Packtalk Edge Duo pack from a retailer after deciding to upgrade from the Packtalk original I've had for years. The original came with the units, packaging and presentation expected of their high end priced product. Don't get me wrong, the product is amazing and qualifies itself well for it's pricetag hence the upgrade to the new Edge Duo version.
The new one however came with a close to £500 price tag ( the Duo has 2 units ) and the packaging and presentation of an eBay Chinese special . Seriously disappointed in the downtrend of their presentation. No way of a customer complaint as there seems to be no support for that ..
Let's just hope the units are worth the money when in use 🤔

Very disappointing products

Myself and 3 friends all purchased the Cardo Freecom 4X, and we are all supremely disappointed with the quality of this product. We have all had similar issues and continuous problems with the product. These include such things as constant dropouts even when in direct line of sight and within 100m, failure to pair with another unit successfully, the Cardo App losing connection with each unit resulting in the App having to be reinstalled on multiple occasions, poor connection with one or more of the riders, a "looping" effect where the unit will continue to repeat a brief (1 second) word sound continuously resulting in all of us having to switch off and on the unit, the unit telling us that a rider is busy and then connecting automatically some minutes later, poor battery life even when the units were new. Essentially, the experience of using the Cardo Freecom 4X has been disappointing to the point of being incredibly frustrating. It has resulted in lengthy delays to reconnect after stopping, and generally we are all extremely annoyed with having purchased these units and feel that we have been ripped off by the poor quality. 2 of the riders previously had older Sena units that they used with other riders and never experienced the issues mentioned here. I have attempted to write a review of the unit on the Cardo website but it has not been published. It appears that Cardo does not respect honest criticism of their products. I have also tried to contact Cardo with my concerns previously and they did not responded. They now have 4 extremely annoyed, disappointed and frustrated customers who will never purchase anything Cardo again. 1 star for the fact you can make phone calls with the unit if you are riding alone. 1 star for the voice activated features, though even these do not work all the time.

Not as good as expected

Shipping was not very fast but that's not a big deal. What I'm not happy about is the sound is hardly any better than the stock 40mm units I got with the Packtalk Bold dual pack. Just a hint more bass but you have to be stationary. When at speed, the wind and engine noise hides the low frequencies and all you hear are the same mids and highs that were never a problem before. Also, I feel like there's less total volume. At least I feel like I'm maxing out when I know I should get a bit more. And yes, I know. High levels of volume are not good for the ears. But this is a critique and I will be critical.
Ultimately, I feel like I wasted $90.

Poor Customer Service

On 1/29/24 I sent the following question:
"In November I purchased a duo pack of Cardo’s PackTalk Edge Headsets for Christmas. One of the magnetic housings has gone missing.
Is it at all possible for me to purchase just the housing on its own, or will I be required to purchase a whole new set?"

That evening, I received this reply:
Hi Barbara,
I hope this email finds you well. This is Facundo with the Cardo support team.

"Unfortunately, we do not sell the cradle for the Packtalk Edge individually but, luckily, we do sell 2nd helmet kits which are much more cheaper than a whole new unit, and they include a new cradle just like the one that comes with the unit. Here's the link for that kit. (Your algorithm would not accept the link provided.)
I hope this helps you out but don't hesitate to reach back in case you have further questions.
All the best,
Facundo
Cardo team"

On 2/2/24, I found the part on the Cardo website. Rather than assisting me in finding the replacement part, your customer service person told me I would have to purchase a whole second helmet kit. I had already purchased 2 and did not need or want the extra parts.

This was NOT good customer service.

Mostly it's great

Mostly it's great. I haven't synced up with my wife or son yet. I'm unable to import my songs so the Cardo app won't play them. I have to play my music app and then start Cardo. Why Can't I import my songs into the CARDO App.

Delayed delivery but Responsive customer service

Product I ordered was delayed due to shortage. I had to reach out to find out about why my order was delayed. Once I did, customer service was very quick to find out the issue and let me know that I would be on the way soon.

Prompt replacement parts delivery

Installing my new Pack Talk Black, the Boom-Mic plug pin broke. Ordering a new boom mic was easy with quick delivery. The system has excellent sound quality and there is a learning curve from the older Cardo model replaced.

The order was handled well with no problems at all. I was given a tracking number and my only worry initially was that I might not be at home when the Cardo Edge arrived.
I was able to track the package from start to finish, with enough detail, so that I was on hand when UPS dropped it off.
I have some hearing loss from working on Jet aircraft in the military and I worried that the Cardo unit might not get loud enough on my "slightly loud" Harley Road Glide. Because of that I chose a full face (modular) helmet for my installation. I found that the Edge delivers clear, crisp sound with the JBL speakers in such a big way that I doubt I am even up to 50% of maximum volume. I'm also super impressed with the noise reduction system as I've made phone calls at 65 mph to my wife and son and they couldn't even tell I was on the bike. It's not quite Spring and I haven't tried the Mesh communication system yet but it works great with my iPhone via bluetooth for XM radio, audio books, and phone calls.
