awful and rude CS, sellers send fakes
I had been using cardmarket for a few months for small purchases, I decided to buy some quite expensive cards so used a verified seller, the cards that came were clearly fake.
I reported this to cardmarket and they told me I had to send the cards to them, they said this had to be done without tracking and when i questioned this I was just given a copy paste of the original instruction and told to read it properly by "Matteo" who is apparently a manager there.
3 weeks later I still dont have a refund, any enquiry as to why gets a copy paste of the same original instructions and a passive aggressive comment from Matteo who after 2 weeks told me I can use tracking if I really want to, 2 weeks after I already sent the cards to them without tracking as per their instruction.
Below is a copy of the last reply from Matteo, 3 weeks after I returned the fake cards
"thanks for your message.
You've already been informed about the whole procedure. We will repeat it for the third and final time:
You will know that the order has arrived because, as written twice already, once the order has been received, a refund will instead be sent to your Cardmarket account.
There's no need to reply to this ticket unless you haven't heard from us.

Abysmal Support & ID Verification
It's honestly great that marketplaces for TCGs exist in this day and age. I purchased from this platform a few months ago as it is currently the most prominent one in Europe and the overall experience was (initially) alright. The account creation process, general UI and payment options (plus fees) are terrible, but after enough patience I was able to successfully purchase and receive my item.
A few months later I receive an email from Cardmarket that my account has been locked due to "account verification". I reach out to them only to be greeted by the worst customer service I have ever had the displeasure of facing on this planet. Throughout our conversation, not only did they continuously try to coax me into submitting a full scan of my id (for their internal "verification process") even though I had given them my bank details and full home address while purchasing earlier, but they also consistently ignored any concerns regarding data processing and privacy, dodging all question related to how they securely process id scans or if alternative validation methods exist. What made things worse was the obvious language barrier between Cardmarket support and myself as an English-speaking customer, directly blaming the issue on myself (the customer) and providing chat bot-like responses whenever they felt overwhelmed. After a few weeks of back and forth (yes, Cardmarket responded to my ticket only once a week), I stated that I thought their support should actually try to solve issues like these and expressed my annoyance of having to deal with this ticket for a prolonged period of time. After which, the ticket was quietly closed without further notification (in contrast to any of the updates prior of which I was always notified of).
My trust in Cardmarket has been severely severed by this incident. Not only have they locked out a paying customer (and thus freezing any remaining funds on my account), but worse of all they showed zero empathy and support to actually handle this situation professionally. I would be terrified of actually having to deal with this level of support in regards to any actual purchase-issues. I therefore can only recommend to stay away from this service as far as possible. While your purchase may be as lucky as mine, their customer service is the actual worst one I have ever had the displeasure of meeting throughout my time on the internet. If you are interested in purchasing TCGs, I would fully recommend to support smaller (local) shops in contrast to these huge anti-consumer platforms, as they clearly have no interest or intention in supporting and keeping their customers.

Quick solution of difficult situation
Had an issue with a long-time absent, unreactive seller and a shipment that didn't arrive and Cardmarket gave me a goodwill refund after I reported and described the issue. Probably never had a better experience with customer support.
