Terrible patient care
Upon entering the Carbon health facility in Ocean New Jersey, there was no one in the waiting room.
The counter person appeared to be speaking with her boyfriend, but when I came in, she acknowledged me.
I sat waiting for 40 minutes and there was not one person that entered nor exited the patient care section.
After the first 25 minutes, I asked why there was such a long wait to see a doctor/ PA when there were no patients coming or going. Another person who had started working the front desk said we are on our lunch break.
I inquired whether or not there are more than one PA or doctor and the person just shrugged their shoulders and dismissed me.
Upon being brought into an examination room, I asked again why is there such a long wait when no one is coming or going, again the attendant said we’re on our lunch break. I asked why if you are effectively closed for an hour for lunch in the middle of the day (and not seeing patients) don’t you post that information. .
The nurse/attendant took offense andsaid if it’s a real issue, you should go to the hospital. This is for emergency situations.
With this level of inconsideration and mistreatment of patients , I walked out.
I’m not sure if it is carbon health policy to not provide any healthcare services during their lunch break (which is extensive), but if it is then it’s really poor client care.
Apparently carbon health is going into bankruptcy.
Do yourself a favor and never patronize a carbon health facility again.
They are not reliable and they do not treat their client patients with respect, if I could give less than one star rating I would.
They clearly do not understand what it means to offer adequate or minimal patient care.
Horrible customer service
Horrible customer service, will never ever go to this carbon health in Novato again from the moment I stepped in the door when the receptionist told me by the way there’s more than an hour wait, to the fact that nothing I was told on the phone was correct, after waiting almost an hour and finally asking the young lady don’t you need to see my insurance paperwork and asking when I would be seen the owner comes out and says everything I was told was incorrect. They don’t take that kind of insurance and or I don’t know. It just seemed like a bunch of excuses, if someone tells you have to wait more than an hour, I wish they would have the decency to call the patient and ask if we need to reschedule, especially some of us that are coming from very far and have other appointments not to mention incorrect information about the test that I needed the insurance that I had, it seems their only goal is to try and make money off of you, and I believe the owner is very prejudice against people who may not be of the same religious background as him, horrible experience will not recommend them for anything
From Pandemic Vax to Ordinary Urgent Care
From COVID vaccination during the height of the pandemic (set up in a huge parking lot due to the urgency)
to several visits to the local Urgent Care, for me and my sons,
I have found Carbonhealth to be well run, well staffed and considerate. That's for private insurance coverage And for Medicaid. I would use them for Urgent Care again and have recommended the local facility to friends.
CARBON HEALTH IS A CESSPOOL OF INCOMPETENCE!
First, Carbon Health decided to cancel my ability to see a doctor because they were no longer working with the Physicians Group of San Jose. Rude awakening, I was with a Medicare Plan but they said it was through the PGSJ and I would have to find another clinic.
Second, before I found out I was no longer entitled to be treated there, I had been seen by a PA there and it was a visit that should have been covered, regular office visit, by my Medicare Plan. Two years later, I received a bill for $215, they finally got around to telling me that the insurance declined the bill. I called the insurance company from then and they told me it was declined because they never got the proper information from Carbon Health. Meanwhile, I was getting nasty letters about sending my bill to collections and hurting my credit standing from Carbon. Through many phone calls and emails, I finally got Carbon to provide the proper documents to the insurance. To make matters worse, my case was sent by insurance for reprocessing. I had to wait for 45 days while they went over the case. I had to call Carbon a number of times, got hung up on, treated rudely and disrespected by agents who did not speak American English. The insurance company finally paid the outstanding bill, and it was all because CARBON DID NOT PROPERLY FILL THE BILLING. It was hours of being on hold, being rudely treated, and trying to get in touch with Carbon agents, ALL WASTED BECAUSE OF THEIR INCOMPETENCE!!!
As for Carbon in general. I had to have a meeting with the doctor I chose, then they billed my insurance for a visit where she talked to me for 5 minutes, but did nothing medical, just a "hello, nice to meet you." I never saw that doctor again! When I went in it was always a PA or a nurse, but not my doctor. It was difficult to get an appointment with Carbon and they messed up a number of times with my appointments. I was trapped because it was difficult to find a doctor who accepted my Medicare plan in the area where I was living. As it turned out, I could not usually go to the Carbon office near my house, and the only appts. I could book with them were fifteen to 30 miles from my home. I WILL NEVER GIVE CARBON A GOOD STAR RATING! THEY ARE THE WORST, MOST INCONSIDERATE EXCUSE FOR A MEDICAL PRACTICE.
Their billing system and total lack of…
Their billing system and total lack of customer service and empathy are incredibly poor.
Suggest you avoid them like the plague.
Carbon Health is Outstanding
Carbon Health at Westbank Market in Austin Texas is outstanding. The team of experienced, efficient, and pleasant medical professionals are second to none. I'm particularly grateful to Julia Fetters, Emily Kriegh, Lauren (Ren) Paoli, and Hisham Sahli for providing swift and effective attention at an attractive price. It's without hesitation that I recommend this wonderful company to anyone in need of medical assistance.
The entire experience with Carbon was a disaster
The entire experience with Carbon was a disaster. The PA who "saw" me only asked if I wanted antibiotics. I said I'd like to find out why I was ill first. She wouldn't do any tests because she said my insurance wouldn't pay for it. Really? As if that wasn't bad enough, OVER ONE YEAR later, Carbon charged my credit card. No warning, despite the No Surprises Act in CA. My health insurance said they never received a claim. Carbon had billed the wrong insurance, and had received a denial a year ago but never informed me. Despite its error, it still refused to bill my actual insurance plan. This is an inept and highly unprofessional organization. Stay away.
Good little urgent care center
I've had a lot of bad experiences at urgent care centers, but have finally found a good one! I have been to Carbon Health twice this year and both experiences were good. The wait was reasonable, the space was clean, the employees were friendly and caring, and I got the treatment I needed. The one complaint I have is that they close for an hour for lunch. Last time I arrived during their lunch and had to wait a while for them to reopen. It would be better to stagger staff lunches so that people could still be seen. Most people coming to urgent care need treatment quickly, because there is some level of urgency. But other than that, I had a great experience both times.
Will charge out of pocket
More than likely do not support your provider even though it appears that way online and in person. You will most likely end up paying out of pocket for the visit. Should stay away.
The doctor seemed new
The doctor seemed new. They did not do a rapid strep test . They took cultures to send away. Told us we would have results in 3 days. 11 days later several calls, messages , rude staff experiences and we still have no answers. Or even proof cultures were actually done. 3 prescriptions were sent to the pharmacy one never made it so we went back to try to get that fixed the next day and we were told it was sent and a print out that was not a legal prescription was handed to us and told us that is all they could do. This place is awful. From treatment to customer service to billing.
Is it possible to give a negative star?
Is it possible to give a negative star review. They had some great providers. HAD being the operative word. They either got canned them or the people left because Carbon sucks so much. They never gave adequate support to the locations. Now they are dunning me for money that I do not owe for visits from a year ago. I am an attorney. If they keep dunning me, I will pursue legal action. Particularly because they are not following consumer debt laws.
Not impressed
While their medical service was fine, I am very upset that they didn't alert me at check-in that they are out of network for my Blue Shield PPO plan. I had to pay the whole visit so naturally, I won't be going there again.
I have a billing issue
I have a billing issue. They billed me for an eye exam i refused to take for an irritated eye. Now my insurance company wont pay it and I can't even get my medical records as their site to request records is erroring out and no one I have contacted can help me. Isn't it illegal to not release records?
Get the tech bros out of healthcare
Because they are a for profit company that basically tries to operate like another “industry disrupter”, they will immediately shut down their offices with little notice during “pivots”, leaving patients high and dry. No offense, but that’s a surefire way to destroy your business if you are in the healthcare sector.
Do not go to the Somerset facility
Do not go to the Somerset facility. Trish Walsh was rude and condescending. My daughter was in pain and I will put in a complaint with the insurance company. Stop working with patients if you’re going to be unprofessional.
Wayne Carpenter
Wayne Carpenter, nurse practitioner at Carbon Health Urgent Care, did not take into account patient history for treatment. I even offered to show him my medical history. I am on a family vacation, I feel terrible, and now I’m leaving urgent care sick and upset.
HORRIBLE BILLING DEPARTMENT— Carbon Health Ocean Rt 35 New Jersey ?
Medical service was good BUT BILLING DEPARTMENT HORRIBLE ,THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE,NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED BY THE NEW JERSEY STATE BOARD OF MEDICAL EXAMINERS!!! I currently have experienced a horrible billing issue with them. The doctor is a nice guy, ,however, they bill and collect money from your insurance company then send you a bill for more than they collected from your insurance company. The bill arrives electronically because they do not use paper, it indicates that they have collected no money from your insurance company and you owe them money….
You call your insurance company they inform you that Carbon Health has been paid in full. You then call Carbon Health and after a two hour wait someone picks up and you get disconnected. You then call Carbon Health and after an hour and a half or two you finally talk to someone who could care less about what you’re saying. You explain your situation and they say they will take care of it. Then after a day or two you get another bill from them and it continues indefinitely. They never fix their problem and make the collection your problem.
It’s an HORRIBLE experience with them. I would never ever use this company again. Stay away at any cost if you dont want to pay an over-priced health cost!
By the way they charged my insurance company over $500.00 for a 30 minute doctor visit. Totally a scam!

Called multiple times to contact…
Called multiple times to contact billing as they had billed me additional $100 more than price listed. 1st call - waited 15 minutes, sound started glitching, then called ended itself. 2nd call - reached someone (or maybe a pre-recorded "voice") pretending they couldn't hear me, then ended the call. It's a frustrating process I'm sure they do on purpose. Currently on the line for my 3rd call. At least they are creative in how to scam and avoid you to make you give up.
