Check carefull additional infos
When I arrived at the car rental, they wouldn't accept my amex. As I paid ryanair via amex I thought it wouldnt be an issue. Apperently there's a additional info button, where you can find the accepted card types for the security deposit.
Long story short, after a 30min call with the suprisingly friendly support worker I got 75% of my money back. I would avoid booking a rental car via ryanair, as it was 20% more expensive than the rental car website, even with the 10% discount.
Please avoid at all costs
Please avoid at all costs. Plane was canceled. Called the car agency front desk. He said no problem pick up the car tomorrow when my new plane was supposed to arrive. Then he ran out of cars so I should have been refunded. Ryan Air said sorry and I should try to get money from the airline that canceled my flight. Complete rip off if you ask me. Customer service gives the same automated messages and are no help. Please please please don’t give them your money like I did and save yourself a $1k+ lesson.
Very bad
Very bad
I been sending emails 2 days for changing main driver name and everytime talk to me some one different . And ask me same question . Disgrace of service as my mum is 69 years and she does not have email adress and as per medical condition she cant write email . They want her to send an email to change the main driver . I have send the hospital summery and still were persisting they want a email from her.
Stay away dont book from ryainair .
Absolute thieves
Absolute thieves. Do not hire car from Ryanair's website.
Not only that they give the worst places to get a car from, but also they don't refund if you decide you don't want it.
Total scam
Total scam! I paid full insurance in advance only to be told on collecting the car that this coverage has nothing to do with the carhire firm. So what did I pay it for?
Highway robbery
Highway robbery
Scam
Do Not Use
Rip Off
Car hire paid in full 3 months in advance for international car hire through RyanAir
and then had to take out a whole new policy as RyanAir have very unfair rules for pickup. If you’re late to collect a 9 day car hire the hire company will resell your car reservation to another client.Even though you’ve already paid upfront for 9 days.
Unfair terms in their car hire contracts for the benefit of RyanAir or the car hire or both but not the client.
Also check any deposit to be held by the car hire company as it is excessive if you do manage to get the car hire you already paid for.
Will NEVER USE RYANAIR AGAIN.
Never got the car, never got a refund
Never got a confirmation email for our carhire, tried calling but they requested a reference number, which I never received so i assumed the order did not go through and I booked elsewhere. After our holidays I noticed the payment itself DID go through. I contacted support multiple times via email and they refused to refund my money.
Utter scam
Utter scam. Offered a cheap price,- almost too good to be true! The booking system transferred name details from Ryanair to the car provider. Upon collection the provider then refused the booking as it did not transfer my middle name, so the passport / license supposedly did not match the booking. They refused to modify the name on the booking, and then insisted on a new booking at a much higher price and a 2h delay. This seemed to be triggered when I refused the additional insurance. It clearly happens a lot as they had pre printed bits of their company rules printed out to support their case. It is all utter rubbish I have never had to put my middle name on a car hire booking anywhere in the world for hundreds of bookings over the last 30 years. It is a premeditated scam. I ended up binning off Ryanair and booking with Avis at the terminal (not giving middle name) who were great.
Stay away from this service
Stay away from this service. The prepaid insurance isn’t worth a dime and the excessive amount claimed by Goldcar is the double of what you’ve already agreed in the booking with Ryanair.
The right term is SCAM
DO NOT HIRE
DO NOT HIRE because if anything goes wrong they will ignore you by passing you on to some other subcontracted car hire company who in turn will do the same. This is my experience currently, whilst trying to get my money back for a hire car which I was unable to pick-up.
And tonights star prize is ……..
….. 50% discount on Wheego car hire in Cologne if booked through us … The only catch ? You have 59 minutes to get off our plane and collect your pre paid booked car ..Your time starts NOW !
As has been said here many times RYANAIR CAR HIRE IS AN UTTER SCAM ..Bewarned !
We prepaid and booked six days rental on a Skoda Fabia Estate to be collected at the Wheego car hire point in Cologne Airport.
After landing it took twenty minutes for steps to be attached to the plane, a further 40 minutes to clear passport control and then a wait of 35 minutes for our baggage.
Cologne Airport is renowned for poor signage and it took us a further 20 minutes to locate the Wheego car hire desk.
Its dark , getting late and raining and low and behold we were classed as a no show by Wheego and apparently you only have 59 minutes after the official landing time to collect your pre paid car and according to Wheego ,this is Ryanairs policy and not their own and shockingly our car is no longer available … Mmmmm ? Didn’t see any others rushing to collect a car ?
Now because we are classed as a no show we have also lost our online payment BUT … Surprise surprise they have another car with a much better spec available for just an additional €210 Euros on top of our €900 deposit + £177 already paid online and being held over a barrel we reluctantly have to accept.
Wheego also will take payment by a debit card but an additional €100 charge will be added so I chose to use my credit card and a total of €1110 went on it on top of the £177 already paid.
No paperwork was given to me , I just had to sign an ipad type thing on four different pages in German.
Our car ( a very nice Skoda Octavia Estate ) was located in a multi storey car park.
It was parked in the dark and was dirty but I still videoed it and took photos including the marked damage to a rear door ( small dent ).
No one showed us to the car, we didn’t even know what type of fuel it took.
My own sat nav ( already had all my destinations on it ) couldn’t be connected as it was USB type C ports in the car, we then spent another 15 minutes working out how to change the built in nav system to English.
On return you just drive in, leave the key and go but I made sure I was with the Woman attendant and pointed out there was absolutely no additional damage to the car whilst she took photos.
I received an email about an hour later ( all in German ) saying everything was satisfactory with the car.
I got my refund two days later but lost £7 because of currency exchange rate and was also charged £27 by my bank for an overseas transaction, this is because they actually take a payment and not a securing block against the card.
I will never use Wheego again ( definitely working in cahoots with Ryanair here ) but I highly suspect that most car hire firms are much the same and I certainly wish I could say the same for not using Ryanair but I will try my hardest to seek an alternative airline most likely flying from and to a different airport.
Paid Ryanair £128.66 for 7days rental…
SCAM!! = Paid Ryanair £128.66 for 7days rental of VW Polo.
Paid further £37.56 to rentalcover.com for enhanced insurance. Dollar car hire.
Landed in Knock, Ireland. Directed towards Hertz Rent a car desk (part of Dollar Group?). Told to place Credit Card in machine for a further charge for holding deposit of £241.86 (why??).
Given a bashed-in Fiat Panda car. (headlights loose, damage to drivers door etc).
Returned car a week later. Intimidating, large, tattooed character forced us to sign document as he said there was sand left in the car. Did so as worried about missing flight. 2 Days later, another £381.19 taken from my account without any explanation.
So far i have paid £509.85 with a further (pending) of £160.88 and £204.37 - causing me to be vastly overdrawn on my Bank Account.
What is going on with this huge scam and why are Ryanair not being held accountable? Absolute robbery.
Complete Scam, Be careful
Complete Scam, Be Careful. Booked car in Malta, could book with a debit card, however on the spot they asked double price to have the car with a debit card. After 1h and several dropped calls managed to reach support. Finally lost ~80gbp, with a 40 Gbp refund. Did not want to give more money to these guys and used taxi instead.
Unable to take the car out and still waiting a refund.
On the 13th September I landed at Poland just after 23:00. My wife, 1 year old and myself made our way to the desk to where I was informed I couldn’t take out the hire car I had paid for the 6 days of my stay in Poland due to not having a credit card in my name. Although this has not been an issue before as I’ve always paid a deposit on taking any car out I asked if they could change the details to my wife’s name as she had a credit card in her name but this option was refused. I was then made to wait on the phone to customer service for 43 mins. The customer assistant Ryan offered that although I was only entitled to a partial refund he could give me a full refund if only I booked again through Ryanair. Although dissatisfied as it seems like as the rules can be bent when it suits the company not the customer. When I tried this I was told that all the cars showing as available were not available so I was left with no car to take my family to our hotel. I then had to pay £40 for my taxi home. I have arrived back in London today with the issue still not resolved and no confirmation of any refund being made. I cannot describe how disappointed and frustrated I am at the whole experience. Yet still I am waiting for some clarity over my refund.
This is the worst car hire I have…
This is the worst car hire I have organised, poor customer service, not interested in helping in any way. Fees are hidden as you don’t get the full amount up front. They will take between £1300 and £2000 on your credit card as a deposit.
Please people avoid
I never thought I will have to rate the service at one star. I used them quite a few times in the past and never had any issues.
This time apparently they only sold me a voucher that wasnt meant to cover full rental cost. Long story short I got done by Hertz with an extra bill of 250euros. Ryanair in denial deliberately misleading customers, I wouldn't expect different response tbh.
The flight delayed because of Ryanair
The flight delayed because of Ryanair, so the car rental company charged overnight fees even though the car was booked through Ryanair. The car insurance/coverage was paid but the rental company did not approve it and you had to buy another. The cost with all these culprits was finally double the amount of renting.
Ryanair car hire is a shambles
Shambles car hire booked through Ryanair arrived at reception to pick it up told no booking
Ryanair is now trying to offer me a part refund what a shambles of a company
Do not book via Ryanair
Do not book via Ryanair. They are using their brand to present an appearance of assurance. In reality they are acting as an aggregator and taking a cut from any booking that you make, after that they have zero interest/involvement. In my view the deal we received was hugely misleading - whilst it inferred we had insurance we had to pay double (go record), the company wasn't at the airport, also no early drop off for our return flight. Book directly with a known company and never trust Ryanair - disappointed that they involve them with this type of behaviour
Zero stars - do not rent a car through Ryanair
We rented and prepaid for a car with insurance from AddCar through Ryanair when booking our flight to Zadar. Upon arriving at the airport after a 1.5-hour delay with Ryanair, there was no one from AddCar to meet us. We were unable to reach either Ryanair or AddCar by phone on Saturday around 6 PM. After waiting for an hour, we coincidentally made contact with a person claiming to be from AddCar. We got into a car that also did not visibly appear to be associated with AddCar. We were then driven 3-4 km outside the airport to a remote location, which made us feel uneasy. Upon arrival at a little shed, we were asked to show our passports and Visa card. We were then met with additional demands for a €800 deposit, but AddCar suddenly refused to accept the same Visa card that had been used a month earlier to pay for the flight, car rental, and insurance. They informed us that the Visa card needed to be a credit card, which was not stated in the car rental contract. After a lengthy discussion with the man in the shed and unsuccessful attempts to contact Ryanair by phone, we eventually made our way back to the airport late Saturday evening, where we were forced to rent a car through another company. We are unable to get a refund from Ryanair for the car rental. All car rental agencies at the airport accepted our Visa card, unlike Ryanair. This situation borders on fraud on Ryanair's part.
