A deceitful company, avoid
Capture One is one of those companies that pump more and more money out of you be "closing" their existing software and blackmailing you to pay more in order to be able to make use of the hours you have invested in your edits.
They closed Capture One Express, which does not mean that you don't get updates, but that actually you cannot use it at all. The only way is to pay more for "Pro". Next year there will probably be "Extreme" and Pro will be replaced, and you will have to pay 999 $ for Extreme like now when Pro replaces Express. Stay away from this company!

I was having trouble getting my Canon r6II to tether in Capture One. The tech support was wonderful. Victor responded to my numerous emails promptly and with lots of good ideas. With his help, I was able to work through the problem and I am up and running now!

It's good software but absolutely awful customer service. I found the two "support staff" I dealt with to be really patronising and arrogant. So much so that I cancelled my subscription and am sticking with Adobe.

Capture one has a good reputation and provides a free cut down editing programme for certain brands of camera. I had the free version for Fujifilm some years ago but had got rid of it. I wanted to try the new version and downloaded it. Instead of getting the free version I got a trial of the full pro paid for version. I binned it and the activation code that came with it and contacted Capture one support. I swiftly got a reply from Victor explaining the rather complex and arcane steps I had to take, deactivating the pro version and more steps after that. It would seem simpler for them to download the free version I had clicked on. I thanked Victor for his help and explained that I had got rid of the activation code and asked how to get another. That was three days ago. Despite two more email requests from me I have been blanked. Baffling and very disappointing. I have gone elsewhere.

Fast response from tech support and issue RESOLVED!
I am a longtime C1 user and I was having an issue with my tools collapsing whenever closing and opening different catalogues or creating new ones. It was annoying to have to expand my tools each time I used C1, but didn't affect my ability to do my editing. I reached out to customer support and Sergi responded within 24 hours and was very helpful in resolving the issue. Within two weeks a software update was released that resolved my issue completely. Thanks!
First Rate Customer support…
Victor did an outstanding job of (a) understanding my somewhat confused description of my problem and, (b) providing me all the information I needed. Throughout the process he was personable, efficient, and professional. I've not had any problems with C1 ever. I contacted customer for advice on what I might do prior to installing a new OS. Victor was a great help and I'm grateful for his assistance.

Victor was very patient and understanding with me ! Unfortunately he was unable to fully rectify the corruption that had happened on my database but he did what he could and talked me though the actions that I could (and did) take to minimise the damage and get the database back on an even keel although I will have to undertake some reinstatement of images on my own over the next few weeks. I have used the new database for a few days now and added to it without issue so my confidence has been restored.

I love capture one!
Capture one is the best editing software for so many reasons, but especially because they will help you in any way they can. Victor made the experience pretty great! I lost over 30,000 of my edited and unedited original images. It was devastating. I wasn't sure I'd ever see them again. Victor not only retrieved ALL of them, he reorganized my folders and followed up with giving me tools to keep things organized and how to access all the tutorials to be able to learn anything else I would need in the future. I'm not the most tech savvy, but I learned so much from working with him.

I am truly impressed with Capture One…
I am truly impressed with Capture One as a tool for processing digital images. Customer support is also very strong, with access even to personal individual support (I had an excellent support session with one employee called Victor who was outstanding). My one criticism is that it is very confusing initially when it comes to set up and understanding how and where images are stored etc, this was helpfully explained to me by Victor, but it is confusing and was difficult for me to understand but it seems i now understand... hopefully. The processing tools themselves are relatively simple and intuitive
Memory leaks!
Capture One up to version 22 was great software and would receive a good review score.
Version 23 has been an absolute nightmare!
The catalog system has proven impossible to use. Every import results in running out of RAM, I have tried this on 3 different computers with 16GB, 32GB and 96GB RAM always with the same result, Capture one keeps increasing the amount of RAM used until the computer hits 98% and hangs.
Support is well aware of the issue but Capture One is more focused on bringing out new features than fixing the major bugs in their software.
The software may be suitable for users who use the session workflow but for anyone who likes to have all their photos in a catalog it is not fit for purpose.
I have wasted countless hours trying to import my photos and have lost many years of edits at this stage. Capture one also holds the edits all in the catalog which creates greater vendor lock-in making it more difficult to leave.
Edit:
Version 16.2.2 still has memory issues using 95.8% of available RAM i.e 93.88Gig of RAM!, taking the PC to 98% Ram usage. It Now takes a couple of days to run the PC out of RAM rather than a couple of hours.
