This tool is a good cloud storage solution. We have been using this tool for almost 2 years now. My only complaint is the UI. It’s not very intuitive at times.

Using Canto for over a year

My team has been using Canto for over a year. It's been a huge improvement over keeping our photography library buried in a series of subfolders and has made it easier for us to share and store photos and videos with vendors, partners, and colleagues. The UX has steadily improved over the last year with a few quirks that aren't too bad once you get the hang of it.

Its an Amazing Platform!

Canto has made it extremely easy for our reps to have access to all kinds of files including logos, infographics, headers, invitations and so much more. The way it allows you to tag and flag items make it so easy to find when you need them! The layout is extremely easy to navigate as well!

We bought Canto as we needed a repository for finished assets

We bought Canto as we needed an alternative to the livedocs and sales repositories. We chose this product because it was simple and not intimidating while providing things like portals, easy upload and download, metatagging, search etc etc. We have found it satisifies our needs and we are glad we chose this option.

Canto to the Rescue!

Canto has helped organize all of our digital assets in one convenient place that internal and external stakeholders can easily access. A simple upload process allows for less time spent on adding new assets to the tool and more time focusing on the more important aspects of my job.

It's difficult to try and pinpoint noticeable negatives to this tool. It does everything I need it to do. If there was one thing that I could add to this tool it would be additional branding customization. There are current features that allow for this but taking it a step further would be ideal.

We have used this tool for over a year now and have found it to be a noticeable upgrade from the DAM tool we were using previously. All of the feedback that has come in from internal and external users has been overwhelmingly positive.

My favorite things about Canto are:

My favorite things about Canto are:

-Tagging. Our company has loved the unlimited amount of tags we can apply to photos to improve our ability to search project photos.

-Sharing Photos Through Link Generation. I love being able to select whatever photos I want to share, generate a link, and then send to a coworker/client for easy download

My least favorite thing about Canto is:

We've had trouble with certain albums being unable to download. We're not sure why this is the case but feel like it is a problem that can be fixed soon.

A huge improvement to efficiency and client interaction

Canto has changed our process for storing, reviewing, and sharing digital assets in such a fantastic way. It allowed us to combine a number of disparate storage products into one integrated, easily administered location. We love it and so do our clients. I can't imagine my daily workflow without Canto!

Easy as Pie

I love how user-friendly Canto is. It's easy to tag, find, and manage content. It is great how you can share certain folders with certain entities. Not all of our content can be shared with agencies, retailers, internal folks, etc. so being able to manage who sees what is great.

Stepped Up Our DAM Game

We had been using a simplified asset management system, but realized we needed something more robust. Canto was able to deliver what we needed. We needed something that was easy to use, had the ability to add many users for internal access as well as the ability to share externally, and needed very good cataloging/search tools. It does all that and much more. Canto has been great for us as we now have all of our media assets in one place.

Be prepared for significant time upfront if you have a large library. After a mass upload, you still need to go in to organize and tag everything individually.

Great Tool

Canto has been a great tool to implement. It's a great way to organize and store files. I like that I can access it from anywhere and not have to deal with connecting to a server.
It's super easy to find files and saves me from hours and hours of searching.
Smart tags are pretty obnoxious and useless. I wish it was easier to make those go away. They just keep coming back.

Thank you for the review! So glad you mentioned "Smart Tags" as that is an option that can be turned off if your company doesn't need them. We'll have your customer success manager reach out to you to take care of this. Cheers!

Canto is not the best, but better than nothing

Canto is way better than trying to sort through photos on Finder or Dropbox. You can tag images and put them in folders and search for key words. I like that you can also sort by pending/approved/rejected. It helps us keep photos organized by style, season, color, etc. I like that you can share folders with certain people.

The software is not very intuitive. The sorting by date hardly works, it is very finicky. The "zoom" boxes are more distracting than useful. Portals don't sync well. Portals should have more granular access and control. The interface is basic at best. Text runs off the screen, menus don't actually expand. Certain email providers can't get access.

Canto helps our team manage thousands of photos for our business as well as share with our teams around the globe. Overall, Canto is better than nothing, but certainly the budget level service and frustrating at times. You get what you pay for.

Efficient + Visual DAM System

First off, their customer service is amazing. I have a direct contact with someone at Canto and it's a breeze to get help with anything that comes up. Including questions that I have while I was discovering and learning the system.

Our company needed a DAM system that was advanced. We needed it to be visual, intuitive for the users and have detailed meta data, and info attached to the assets. Canto does it all plus so much more! Some of the best qualities about Canto are its visual set up, UX, meta tags, search capabilities and organization.

We are extremely pleased with the system.

The only thing I dislike is the bulk uploader app. I thought it would save me time, but in the end everything got uploaded at once so I've had to go back and add all the tags, descriptions and information to the files. In retrospect I would have uploaded it in batches so I could add all the info at the same time.

Hours and hours of saved time!

I can't even imagine how many hours I will save since implementing this software. My company has nearly seven years of content on one non-searchable server. When we needed files it took hours and days to find what we needed. And in some cases we knew the content existed, but couldn't locate it so we had to redo it. Adding the tags and description to each file is time consuming, but I know after I am done I will never have to worry about finding that file again, even years down the road.

The functionality of the file info page is a little confusing, if you scroll down on the page, a new and larger info page pops up out of nowhere. However, once you get used to it, it doesn't seem like a huge problem. The biggest struggle is trying to move files from one album to another. You can't just drag it in the new folder, you have to manually go in the file info, and search for the folder to add the file to.

This is the only critique I have, which in the grand scheme of things is nothing. With the search capability, I won't need to access the different albums much at all. So far, I am super pleased with Canto and I am really thankful our company decided to use it. I would gladly recommend it to anyone.

Faithful Canto/Flight user

Very useful tool and very intuitive for all levels of users. Great organizational structure/framework; great customer service; great development team - they listen to users' feedback and further develop the tool based on user requests and suggestions.

Canto DAM

We recently switched from a different DAM company and Canto made it easy to import all our assets and keep them organized. The "Canto Connect" desktop app allowed us to upload assets and automatically create the same folder structure that we were uploading. This way we did not have to create the folder structure online beforehand.

Support is also very responsive and has been able to help me with any issues that I have sent.
