Great free service where i had plenty of interested people, contacting them was really easy.
I found the site very good considering it was free. Placing the add was a bit slow, and it Jumbled up my pictures a bit.
I did get a couple of car history scammers contact me. But they are everywhere.
I did get some good genuine buyers too.
The website was easy to use and, when I needed to make contact, I easily get to speak to a real person which was good and that person was helpful.
I did get a scamming email which looked convinvingly as if it was from Campers4sale. It said that my advert was suspended pending identity checks but then asked for my credit card details. No chance! So watch out for this one.
Otherwise all good.
Website is ok once you get used to it, but finding the right options not intuitive and took a bit of trial and error. Some responders to advertise felt a bit off so didn’t follow those up, otherwise seems to have worked ok.
Sadly I saw one good review and one bad. I listed my van for sale and within 24 hrs I was targeted by this scam.
Very sad. Given that there is no way to communicate with buyers through the app/platform - you just get an email and then it’s all with the “buyer” by email - sadly my confidence in the website is shaken.
How does the scam work?
The scam starts with someone contacting you about the vehicle you have for sale. They might ask about the mileage and the history of the vehicle, whether it has a full or partial record, and also the previous owners that the vehicle has had. At this point, they will suggest that they are seriously interested in purchasing the vehicle; they might ask for your preferred method of payment, as well as your location so that they can pick up the vehicle.
The potential buyer then requests that you pay for a car inspection report. They might refer to it using an acronym, or a shortened version of the name of the report, to imply that it is something that you should already be aware of. They then send a link to a website which asks for vehicle details, as well as your personal information and payment details. After submitting this, a fake report might be generated.
very quick and easy to use and had very interest from using the website and sold my campervan in less than a week
This could’ve been such a great website for the Campervan community, sadly the website is the target of many scammers pretending to be genuine buyers and wasting your time (and in my case money) whatever you do don’t fall for the motor facts/HPI check report scam. It’ll cost you £44
