I would give them more stars if I could. Best brownie we've ever had, ever. Great gift for a sick friend that needed a pick me up, colleagues birthday, personalized one for my niece who smashed her a-levels and I didn't even realize they were vegan friendly! Bonus. Customer service was quick and efficient each time I needed help. Don't think twice, get the personalized chocolate one to bring someone joy!

I have been an online customer for many years buying for myself, vegan daughter, family and friends for birthday and other surprises. Always excellent quality, delicious and equally good after being frozen. Reliable attractive packaging and first class delivery. Never ever had a problem. Highly recommend you subscribe

I've tried a lot of vegan brownies, but Cake or Death make the absolute best! The cookie dough and other goodies are yum too. Perfect gifts for the plantasaur in your life, I always get them for my sister and she loves them too. Highly recommended!

Cake or Death's brownies taste unbelievable! Such an amazing vegan product which also receives rave reviews whenever I share them with non-vegan people. The packaging is super cute, making them a great gift. They have fabulous customer service and are always creating delicious new goodies that are always so delicious. Could not recommend more!

I recently placed a subscription order and experienced the following.

Positives
Good website, well designed and easy to set up and manage a subscription.
A variety of tempting flavours.
Order quickly dispatched and arrived promptly.
Polite customer service when I called with a query.
Products came well packaged.

Negatives:
I understood that reward points would be accrued on subscription orders, but they are not. This was not made clear on the website and when I called, the lady said that others had raised this query previously but it still hasn't been clarified on the website.
Dispatch confirmation and online account does not state which courier service has been used. I did receive a notification from Royal Mail late on the night that the order was disatched, but it would have been more useful to have this in the dispatch confirmation email along with a tracking number.
I emailed customer services with some queries but didn't get a response or auto-acknowledgement. I don't have a problem with waiting a reasonable time for a response, but it would have been helpful if an auto-response advised of the likely timescale. This would have prevented me from thinking I had been forgotten. I have significant levels of anxiety so this was a big negative for me. I felt I had to call instead to get an answer, which made me more anxious as I get really stressed when speaking on the phone.
The products themselves: although in good portions, the taste and flavour were just ok. For example, the bakewell flapjack was gently flavoured, but not as strongly as I usually like. Similarly, the cookies and cream brownie was fudgy, but for me the chocolate lacked the wow factor. I acknowledge that this is down to personal taste. I can only comment based on my honest experience.

Due to my lack of confidence in email responses, the lack of clarity on the website about reward points and being underwhelmed by the quality of the product, I opted for two stars in this review, which comes after a lot of time and thought about the positives and negatives of my experience.

I have now cancelled my subscription and opted for an alternative company, which has responded more quickly to my queries.

Have ordered twice now and I really want to review customer service. Both times I have had minor issues with website or needing to question something. Both times I have received almost immediate responses and Katie cannot be more helpful or friendly. Any issues are dealt with so fast and customer service like that can be rare today!
The brownies are lovely and if you are nervous about ordering from a small business-don't be! Lets support our smaller independant companies.

Simply the best brownies ever! My husband and I met at Exeter Uni so we had Cake or Death brownies feature as a dessert for our wedding. Guests raved about them and had our venue team not saved a few even we would have missed out, they went so fast!
Speedy delivery straight to our venue - great experience as a bride with enough else to deal with!

I bought a brownie for my mum for Mother's Day because I couldn't be there on the day. This prompted my dad to phone me especially to tell me this was the "best brownie he had ever eaten!" My mum had to remind him that it was actually hers!

I love this company! I've reordered multiple times for gifts over the years - super quick and the brownies are delicious!

Cake of death brownies are by far the tastiest brownies you can buy, but not only that, they're also the most INCLUSIVE brownies around. Why do I say that? As a sufferer of gluten and dairy intollerances, I am more often than not left out when it comes to things like cakes, treats and surprises. It might not sound like a big deal but I am here to tell you that it IS A BIG DEAL!

Cake or Death brownies are so delicious that for every birthday or special occasion, my workplace will happily club together to buy a few boxes of these delicious slabs of chocolatey, fudgy heaven. Excitement is fever pitch when they know it's the special brownies and another shop-bought brand. And nobody cares (or can tell) that they're made from ingredients that allow the 7 sufferers or conscious abstainers to enjoy the fun in our 50-strong community.

I've even gone so far as to order brownies and send them to all my clients as a Christmas thank you. And the overwhelm, appreciation and excitement that has come from everyone has been incredible. And I've been told that the always forgotten gluten free and/or vegan people have, on occasion, been moved to tears by being able to eat something so delicious for once.

So you're not just sending brownies in the post. You're sending a message that you really care, and demonstrating that you have exquisite taste in brownies.

I'd like to also add that the founder, Katie, and her team have over the years performed miracles to get brownies done for us, and are always incredibly accommodating and helpful. I've had a subscription now for several years, and I don't think I'll ever stop... Why are you still reading this? Just buy some brownies!!

I do enjoy these brownies. At first I wasn't sure whether to subscribe, as at first glance it looked expensive. But I can't have milk or egg so, thinking I deserved a treat, I thought I'd just try the first box, as you get 10% off your first one. They are nice; rich, very chocolatey and filling. They're not a chewy brownie but more soft, squidgy and gooey. I do prefer a chewie brownie but I don't think you'll get that in a vegan brownie so I'm happy with the compromise.
I still think it's expensive but I don't buy coffee/cigs/magazines/lunch so decided that I'd treat myself to a box of 10 every 12 weeks. Gives me a treat to look forward to. It was an easy decision at the time as a box of 10 was £21 with delivery included. The price of chocolate has gone up recently so the price of 10 has now gone up to £26, which still includes delivery. I've decided to stick with it for now, as I'm only getting them every 12 weeks. No way could I get them every month at that price.
You can choose your flavours every month and they do limited editions every month which have been really nice, especially the ones at special times like Easter - these ones LOOK really special too, often with glitter, sprinkles, chocolate chunks etc.
They're packaged up really lovely, a nice box with the brownies wrapped in paper inside.
I also make mine go further by cutting each brownie into four. Yes, I know this makes each piece quite small, but then just two of these pieces is often enough to feel like I've had a chocolate hit, and I do find them filling and rich so my tummy has had enough. This also makes them last longer - I manage to make mine last a week! They keep well too.
You get an email when your delivery is due so you can pop online and change the date and/or flavours.
The flavours are all nice, though some do taste similar to the others - in a taste test I'd find it hard to place the flavour with some. I thought I'd love the raspberry/cherry flavours but they are a bit tart for me. I wanted it to taste like battenburg! Personal preference I know.
Once you're logged in to your own account, I don't find it the easiest website to navigate, I find some bits are shown duplicated so I get confused, but saying that, I always manage to find my way fairly swiftly, it just takes a confused couple of minutes. I am inept with technology!
I hope this review doesn't sound negative, I'm just sharing my own honest journey and thoughts. At the end of the day, I like them, I'm happy to buy as a subscriber and I look forward to receiving them.
To sum up, I like to support small businesses and do understand that the price had to go up, and I have found a brownie that I can eat which tastes nice, so will stick with it for now.
If you're wondering whether you should try them - yes you should. Suggest doing what I did and subscribe with your first box with 10% off - then you can decide if one box was enough and cancel, or continue at full price, perhaps to receive at longer intervals like I have.

THE most delicious brownies!! Discovered them when I went down to see a friend in Exeter and have been a welcome surprise prezzie for friends and family when I can’t be there as they can post! Seriously scrummy and with GF and dairy free options theyre something (almost) everyone can enjoy!

These brownies are DELICIOUS! Such gorgeous flavours and a great gift for any occasion! The cookie dough is also gorgeous and Katie’s customer service is top notch!

Such incredible brownies. So indulgent and taste BETTER than regular ones with all the allergens in them. My son is dairy allergic so discovering cake or death has been a game changer!

I’ve been a keen gifter of these brownies and they never fail to delight the recipients. Gorgeous yummy treats, very simple ordering and fab packaging. And supporting a small business- what’s not to love?

Katie and the whole Cake or Death team are fabulous. I've been ordering brownies from them since the pandemic. All of the brownie flavours are great. Delivery has always been on time and the team are super responsive on email whenever I've had any questions or issues.
