No frill, no respect, no future
The pay is quite low and you don’t get paid for breaks or admin hours. You are put on a self-employed contract at the start and therefore don’t get any of the basic ‘benefits'.
Your hours change every week and are there are other factors rather than your competence that decide what hours you get.
The facilities are frankly terrible. Often the lift doesn’t work. There are TV in the classrooms but they don’t work. The CDs don’t work, but it doesn’t matter because the CD players don’t work either. The windows are either painted shut or need to be wedged open with wooden blocks.
The Director of Studies only has a CELTA, so it feels weird having your observations being carried out by someone less qualified than you.
There are absolutely no opportunities to progress. The school won’t help you at all to get your Masters/DELTA etc.
