Only allowed to change dose every 3 months
Although I was provided with a good telehealth visit, I am very disappointed with how the provider chose to prescribe my medication and the lack of response when I stated the dose was no longer working. Even though I had zero side effects, I was required to stay on the Wegovy 2.5mg for 3 months before increasing the dose. This is 2 months longer than Lily's recommended dosing and considered a subtherapeutic dose. I had minimal success at this dose and wasted considerable funds before transitioning to what is considered the lowest therapeutic dose. I then received a 3 month supply for the 5mg dose. That went well, but at the end of my third month I told my provider that it seemed to be decreasing efficacy, and I was told I had to try this dose for another 3 months before increasing it to 7.5mg. So I have been on Wegovy for over 6 months, and I am still at the 5mg dose with no weight loss in the last 2 months and increased cost. According to the manufacturer and many sources online, I should have been at the 7.5mg at minimum. It is frustrating that you cannot change your dose but once every 3 months, even if you are not losing weight and have no side effects. This medication is expensive and I feel I have lost valuable time on my weight loss journey.
