Wish I could give them 0 stars. I would not recommend these people. RUN and don't look back!
Boxelder prepared my 2023 tax return and included two W-2s from the wrong year (2022) while omitting my actual 2023 W-2. The tax year is printed right on the form. Because of this, the IRS disallowed my withholding credits, my refund was never issued, and my account was flagged for lien/levy action.

When I notified co-founder Tom Conradt about the errors, he responded that my email was “not sufficient in terms of credibility or specificity” rather than investigating his own firm’s mistake. I’ve spent months correcting their errors myself, filing an amended return and complaints with the IRS and DORA.

They market themselves as having tax lawyers and CPAs, but my return was prepared with apparently no CPA review despite a CPA being CC’d on my emails.

AVOID THIS FIRM!

My only regret in contacting Boxelder Consulting is not reaching out sooner. For several years, I googled tax attorneys, researched companies, read reviews, and even researched possible outcomes to my particular situation. I was always left paralyzed with fear. Meeting with Tom on day one was more emotional than I anticipated, and to my surprise, I was met with compassion and understanding. Tom, Marc, and team removed the anxiety of dealing with the IRS and simply provided results and outcome and did it quickly. I cannot begin to describe the weight that has been lifted. I am back on track and I owe it all to this firm. If you are second-guessing, don't!

I signed up for a free consult and gave a brief synopsis of my problem with an audit in the sign-up form. They canceled the free consult and said they wouldn't take my case. I was requesting advice as to tax precedent and whether it was worth fighting the IRS. I guess don't ask their help for IRS audit issues.

We discussed my case for quite a while and Tom was very candid and told me that he had not heard of my specific situation before but that he would be willing to move forward with my case if need be.
