I took out Boom car Insurance last year…
I took out Boom car Insurance last year without any problems. To be fair, I never needed to contact them for anything. Renewal quote seemed decent too but the button on your app works to turn off auto renew but not to turn it on again. I could not get to speak to anyone on the bot.
They close at 5pm Monday to Friday.Not open weekends. Very difficult when you work in an environment where they do not want you using your phone.
I finally got my insurance sorted for the year and after a couple of weeks I'm asked for every sort of ID more than enough to use for Identity Theft. This includes work payslips. Never been asked for before. Now they are asking for more proof of my employment. Because saying I'm a teaching assistant and sending a payslip is now not enough as payslip says I work for the council.
Now the are looking for a copy of my work contract or they will threaten to cancel my policy like the did when the first asked for all my identity documents.
My friends say this sounds like a scam.
It's unbelievable. All I can say is please AVOID like other people have said.
Setting up is fine until you need to contact them or speak to someone. Waiting weeks for a response. Bot saying an hour wait, then cuts you off. Unbelievable.

Having not heard of Boom before I am always a bit concerned when it’s not a company that I have heard from before especially with insurance .
After negotiating the website I became confident enough to accept the quote that I had received and completed the necessary actions .

Really good at taking your money but…
Really good at taking your money but that’s about it. This is a non contactable insurance company. So if you need to make amendments it’s a no go. I just simply want to change my locked email address to a new one and this cannot be done. Tried a human bot but can’t get through to a human. I have emailed from my new email address no answer. And no telephone number to talk to someone. I’ll have to cancel my direct debit and choose a new company.
I cannot respond with my policy number as it’s locked in my emails!

Warning do not go with this company .. awfully customer service if you can ever get in contact with some one ... And make sure turn off Auto renewal will still take your money every year even if insured else where

Terrible
Terrible! Avoid! My elderly neighbour paid for insurance for 3 years as he could not cancel! Over £1700 taken! When trying to cancel you cannot speak to anyone just chat bots! Tried for 3 solid days to cancel for him. Wait for hours for chat bot to answer and then they just cut off and u have to start over again! They purposely make it extremely difficult to cancel so that people end up paying for longer particularly vulnerable people.
