Overall positive experience but as a member for almost 10 years I’ve had good and bad. Customer service is mostly good. Any issues I’ve had has been taken care of. Pricing is good as a legacy member and add ons are reasonably priced. My only issues have been the selections month to month are mixed and I don’t like the main selections but would prefer the add on instead for my pick. I enjoy the variety but sometimes the main picks are just not great and have been disappointing as a reader.
They purposely make cancelling difficult
I tried cancelling in the app and was taken to a link where the option to cancel was not available despite using the search option. I emailed BOM to cancel and was told via multiple emails that they could not find my account using my email, mailing address, or CC information. At this point I told them I would just go through my CC to get to a back credit to get my money back. The reply to that email was that they had magically found my account using a the email I had been using the entire time and were able to carry out my request. I understand it’s a business but cancelling any subscription should not be a difficult process. I lost trust in BOM after this. It feels scammy, a process designed to string customers along in order to continue to charge them.

It's the one subscription I won't give up. It keeps me engaged with reading and I read books I wouldn't normally pick out if I was just browsing a store.

The company has good book choices and it ships fast
Hmmm. Maybe...
The monthly selections are usually great. Lately they've been pretty disappointing. I've been a member for quite a number of years and I wish we were able to pick ANY book we want if we choose to skip a month (not just a member fave because I usually have all of them or the genre available isn't my taste in books.)
It's a great service and a good price but I wish we had more control over our picks. Several times I've considered canceling my subscription and just buying elsewhere because I know I'm can get exactly what I want and I'm not forced to skip or read something I know I won't be interested in.

Love BOTM due to the variety
Love BOTM due to the variety in different genres. They very much want you to try new things so when you don’t enjoy it they refund you and you get to keep the book.
Not enough options
I joined because there was a book I was interested in. There haven’t been many new books I am interested in. I would like to use my credits for other books besides the new monthly ones. I am cancelling after my third month because of this.

Enjoy my $20
Absolutely scammy business practices. I signed up for my first book for $5, I even opted out of the ugly free hat. I signed up 9/18. I haven’t even received my first book when I’m suddenly charged $19 on 9/25! I thought I thoroughly read the terms, I was expecting to pick a book or skip by 10/6. I was told I could do that or cancel anytime, but then they turn around and say I “agreed to be charged one full month at least once”, so even though I offered to RETURN THE UNOPENED BOX, and told them I will not use the credit I just paid $20 for, they REFUSED A REFUND. So enjoy my $20 tip for nothing, wish I could have used it to donate a book to a child or something instead.
This company’s whole profit plan hinges on consumers not thoroughly reading the fine print, or simply forgetting to cancel. Will also be reporting this to the BBB. Shame on you.

I love picking my books each month. The selections enable me to sometimes go outside my normal genres and I like that!
BOTM allows me to pick books I normally…
BOTM allows me to pick books I normally wouldn't read. It allows me to to step out of my comfort zone and explore new genres. I have learned that I like so much more than I thought I did. The shipping is always so fast and has the best saying on the book marks.

Disappointed
I’m honestly at a point where I may end my subscription with BOTM. The quality isn’t there anymore, the picks for the past few months haven’t been the great, and saving money is a top priority for me. I’m going to have to see what October brings before I fully decide

Love my books from btm! Love the excitement waiting for it to arrive and taking it out of the box! Love the selections of books! I would give 5 stars for more little surprises in the box (like stickers/ book related items) , it's hard to afford ordering enough books to get the gifts. But still love btm!
