I ordered a book, received an order confirmation but it never arrived. I had no response when i emailed them. After checking my bank account it looks like the payment wasn't taken (fortunately!).

Why is this site still being allowed to operate? I didn't see these reviews until I checked following a long wait for an order. So disgusting that they are allowed to get away with this.

Can't give no stars. This is a scam site trying to look like the Amazon book depository which has been liquidated. I narrowly avoided losing almost £50 to this scam.

Unfortunately, this seems to be a fake or semi-dormant business. I ordered and paid for a book, it never arrived (2 months later). There's no way to track what happened. They don't respond to my emails.

Do not buy from this company, they do not honour your purchases and they do not respond to your emails . There is no other way to contact them. They have stolen my money

Despite all the true reviews that this is a scam, and many people reporting this company, unfortunately I fell for it also without seeking reviews first, and same experience, depite a confirmation email, money taken and still no book after several months and no response from the only email available.
Its a sad state of affairs that pretty much everything advertised on Facebook, including those with a genuine appearing website, are scams.
My only resolution and advice to others is only buy from individuals that respond to contact on FB, never buy anything from commercial ads on FB.

Absolutely disgusting, scamming people. I brought the peppa pig 50 red box for Autistic niece who is completely obsessed with these books as her currently ones have been used that much she needs a new box. I have searched and searched everywhere for this box and everywhere is out of stock. I finally come across a site that looks pretty legit didn’t even think to look at reviews as looked decent enough. But after a month of waiting and no response I come across reviews of the site.

Now out of £28 that won’t get back.

Vile that there is people out there setting up fake sites and scamming people.

First, I've read the reviews, and I'm not sure this is a fake website. Perhaps more like a business that closed down without taking down its website. Maybe. Maybe not. I placed an order in October 2025, but have not received the item. According to my account, it still states the order is being processed. No replies to my emails. If it were a fake website, they would have stolen the money, but my account remains untouched. I believe the company has suspended business, which is why the order is stuck in processing. So yes, do not order from this website, but fingers crossed, they don't take the money. I will update this review if they do.

Ordered a book on 1st October wrote 4 times no response and no book.

Book never arrived. They never respond. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY. Theyt are scammers.

Scammers. Do not buy anything from this bogus company, they don’t exist, they take your money then don’t send the books or communicate at all. I wished I had taken more time to check their website and feedback, I am notifying the relevant authorities as much as I can to investigate this company!!!!

Ordered a book for a Christmas present - like others on here, they took the money, never delivered anything and have ignored emails. Avoid at all costs.

THIS IS A FAKE COMPANY AND A SCAM!

I had heard of this book website in the past so just trusted them and made an order of over £40+ in books. It’s been over a month and I have received no books and only ever received one confirmation email.

I’ve emailed twice and received no response from them and that’s when I checked trustpilot and saw all the negative reviews.

I just wish I had checked the reviews first before purchasing. I’m hoping to contest this with my bank to get the money back.

Fake compoany, doesnt send books, doesnt reply to email and their telephone number on their website is actually Googles San Fran Office.

This company is NOT REAL. They used to be a reputable book supplier but it appears that they closed in 2023. Unfortunately, I did not realize this when I went to purchase some books from them.

Do NOT be fooled by their website, which comes up when you search for The Book Depository. I was fooled, and I gave my debit card details to purchase 2 children's picture books. I received a confirmation that my order was placed but never received the books. My bank confirmed that the purchase was never made, weirdly. I have sent email after email to BookDP asking what is happening, where my books are etc. I have had no replies. Because of this, I have had to cancel my debit card to ensure they do not do anything with the details. I believe this "company" is actually harvesting credit and debit card details. DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY.

Reiterating what others on here have said: This is a fake website and a scam. I ordered a book, received a confirmation email. A month later, no book and no replies to four emails asking what's happening. I'm usually so careful about scams and pretty savvy, but it just goes to show, no one is above getting duped. My card hasn't been charged (yet), but I imagine that may be because the perpetrators are more interested in data harvesting than outright theft. Anyway, I've reported the website to the appropriate UK authority - hopefully it will be taken down in the UK soon.
