Colonial and racist.

English based with the intent in bringing Scotland’s nhs to its knees whilst ignoring the injustice to doctors in England. How blatantly colonial and racist.

The BMA are disgusting they are putting patients lives at risk i have had at least 4 appointments cancelled due to nurses and doctors going on strike and as for these so called resident doctors going on strike especially when they are junior doctors with hardly any experience wanting pay rises is disgusting they have had multiple pay rises all it is, is greed some nurses and doctors are extremely rude. The NHS has a policy which is double standards stating they deserve to go to work without feeling threatened, abused and assualted it works both ways. The whole NHS are a joke and so is the BMA god forbid that their relations need hospital treatment. Also the security at the local hospital are a massive joke.

Life-threatening ignorance

I would not deal or rely on their advice again, unless I wanted another round of ignorance, indifference for another person's wellbeing, and total personal and professional destruction. They are dangerous for employment matters. If you have an issue with an employer, the BMA isn't a reliable solution. They will drag you down with irreparable impact on your life.

If you believe you can earn more money…

If you believe you can earn more money overseas, then simply go overseas. If you got into Healthcare to save lives, then stop being so selfish and save lives. I used to support you, but the militant side of your organisation lost my support when my father's appointment was cancelled, for the fourth time, purely due to your selfish strikes, and he died as a direct result. FFS.... You are doctors... Born to save lives. If you are nothing more than money grabbers.. why not get a job in the private sector!!!!

Paying for BMA membership is paying for nothing

As a paying member of the BMA, when I email for support and advice I don’t expect replies to take over a month!
Initially very supportive with a good phone call and asked for some documents/evidence to help resolving my issue but then stopped responding to me in the midst of my ongoing issue. This has happened twice to me. The BMA does not support individual doctors with their queries/requests for help, despite being paid to do this

recently BMA which is a trade union for doctors have really gone downhill. You cannot speak to anyone anymore. You have to fill an online form and although they say will take 4 days to respond, they take a week. and when you reply to the advisor, they do not reply for now 4 days ( I am still waiting ); no acknowledgement receipt even when you ask them to. And their annual fee is the same

Poor experience as a member

I have been a member of BMA for a very long time, paying a hefty membership fee every year. I (and many colleagues in my situation) only ever contact the BMA when we face significant difficulty and need help at workplace - I have to say the support I receive is very poor - extremely slow to get any response, then the response would be very vague, wordy and frankly less than useful. Currently I am under tremendous pressure (amounting to bullying from the managers) - has been over five weeks - still waiting for any meaningful help.
Perhaps the GPs get a better service out of them, perhaps it is only good if you are a committee member in one of the hundreds of committees.
If you visit their lavish office, you will understand where all the membership fees are spent.

HANG YOUR HEADS IN SHAME BMA

Get your people back to work People are dying.
People have lost faith and have absolutely no sympathy whatsoever with your striking NHS staff… If they think they can get a better paid job then they should go and find one and stop whining…
Consultants Hang your head in Shame. Consultants are so rich they can afford Private medical treatment whilst they are putting a death sentence onto many ordinary people
Junior Doctors are certainly not as good as they think they are. Most have become junior doctors for the Kudos…
I was once admitted to A&E with an Asthma Attack
A junior doctor sent me home because I had enough breath to say the alphabet. The following day I was taken back to Hospital in a blue light ambulance as I was in very ill. I was kept on a ward for16 days…
This is Anarchy by the BMA

After seeing a young man who should of been at the original strike, go of on a holiday! He lives a very comfortable life indeed, yet says he is struggling.
Why aren't theyvaccepting the same deal, like across in Scotland! Cause to me You've just proven to the public that this isn't about money, its about politics! Its insulting to ppl who are genuinely struggling, who live in a reality.
It's not a good look & you are wrong about public support! We are fed up of seeing you use strikes to get at Conservative! I mean 35% demand, its unacceptable amounts & you know it.

Disgraceful organisation

Disgraceful.
Yet another irrelevant organisation who is using its paying members as their cannon fodder to lampoon central government as per usual.
A 35% pay rise, your just not worth it. What planet are these clowns on. It wouldn't be so bad if the public got great care and value for money from our NHS doctors and consultatnts. But we don't. We get an incompetent service delivered by NHS doctors, consultants and management who are basically clueless and still the BMA have the arrogance to ask for more. Doctors know the payscale they would be earning when they signed on, If you don't like it, get another job and stop holding the public to ransom with your vile damaging strikes. You think the public is with you. We're not and never will be until you show us you can do the job properly in the first place and gain our respect back. The BMA don't have the brains to even begin to think like this. We have no respect for your so called superheros anymore. You have basically shown your true colours by your actions whilst still filling your pockets up with vast amounts of tax payers cash.
Shame on you.

Why the BMA is one of the weakest trade unions?

A brief answer: abrupt & dismissive employment advisors, only after big-cases with major media coverage, very slow and weak actions to pressing doctors' issues and not to mention; a rather synonym to the GMC when it comes to discriminatory treatment.
If you couldn't guess why BMA is a weak trade union despite representing a respected and influential sector of the society, here is why in few sentences: they collect fees from all members, so that they can only represent the more privileged with more chances of getting their requests responded to, or the ones that can draw more public media attention, but not for the expected motive of managing all doctors' issues with fair and efficient manner. Poor handling and very lagged actions on the pressing doctors' issues is another clear reason. Junior doctors pay (apparently the same rate a barista can get at Pret a manger!) was only raised after half the other trade unions striked! not after the pandemic with doctors beside other professionals losing their lives due to deficient PPE, not after the trending increase of doctors and medical students taking their own lives due to the overwhelming pressure with no support or decent financial outcome to compensate, but only after trade unions have striked. ( I don't even want to ask the grim question of what did or would the BMA do re- the unsafe working condition that took the lives of doctors during the pandemic, and will continue to do so in case of national emergency situation) I guess no surprise here that the same level of respect the BMA gives her members and their issues, was received from policy makers who didn't even show up to meetings the BMA invited them to; such a joke!

I contacted the BMA re- an employment advice, the employment advisor was very dismissive and eventually rudely saying "if you think BMA Law fees are excessive, why didn't you contact your independent solicitor then" as a response to me asking about the legal support given to BMA members as I was asked to pay 2500 upfront before even discussing my case with anyone! at which point I had to end the call thanking the person for their time. I believe BMA should edit their voice message to include that they ensure not only their staff, but also their members are treated with dignity and respect. I was surprised later to find that the advisor logged 2 calls on their system claiming that I called twice, which I didn't, perhaps to cover up his rudeness.
I submitted a feedback as a result, ended my membership the next day, and asked not to be contacted as it was the second time I end my membership. Next day I got an unexpected call from Debora wanting to speak to me. I was busy so advised I was in the middle of doing something and asked if she can call later on that day. she agreed yet insisted on getting some answers to her Qs before hanging up. Apparently her time and requests are more significant than mine. She didn't call back that day so I called the next day for her to speak. I was told she was unavailable & has been since then. Since my membership didn't end till end of the month, I got involved with another advisor, Liam, he requested more info on a matter and promised an instant response. no response received for 2 days as he was apparently busy every time I call to speak to him (too busy to do his job, perhaps more busy than the doctor he was linked to!) & was told that he promised to call by Monday the latest for an update. I renewed my membership to give them a third chance and for them to take my query seriously. on Monday No call but a vague email mentioning (as discussed, you were underpaid and a local advisor will get in touch) was received. I wasn't underpaid, and not to mention no discussion whatsoever took place with Liam.
I submitted a third email to enquire about the support offered on a third and different point, and received the automatic email that a response would be communicated within one working day. Surprise!, one working day has passed with no response to that query. I wonder if BMA mark certain doctors' profile as 'less privileged' and treat their queries accordingly? That notion came to my mind when a call taker with a heavy Scottish accent was talking very rapidly, and when I asked her to repeat one question (yes, only one!) she abruptly and impatiently raised her voice to repeat it (really?!, I am the one who should have an accent and I was never impatient like that with people asking me to repeat. (BTW, I am an expert English speaker with a comprehensible accent, as was told)
This feedback will be shared on every platform I know, perhaps so that the BMA would stop putting its head in the sand and try to look into doctors' pressing issues with more proper planning and decent, timely and firm actions. It is anonymous but I am sure the BMA knows whom to contact!
