Collection was easy and straight…
Collection was easy and straight forward. We received an email to take a pic of our knives before we sent them, wow what a difference. We sent 3 damaged knives, one which was very expensive, and they all returned in amazing condition with the blades super sharp. If I had one moan it would be that the insurance is very expensive so we didn't bother, but everything went spot on. Great company.
Great service
Great service, my knives were back in a week and they were like new! Delighted with them!
Exceeded expectations
I sent two very well used bread knives with a request to have them re-scalloped where 25+ years of use had virtually erased the original scallops. Delighted with the result, new scallops and an excellently judged reshaping of the edge has made them sharper than when they were new. I also had a Wustof Classic chefs knife re-profiled where years of steeling had made the blade concave and prevented the heel of the blade contacting the chopping board. Again, an excellent result, I now have a properly curved blade that cuts along its entire length. That this was accomplished while preserving the bolster shape and producing an aesthetic result really is impressive. Highly recommended.
Absolutely fantastic experience
Absolutely fantastic experience. A box arrived to pack the items securely and then off to Blade and Butler via EVRI.
Within 3/4 days they were back and WOW they looked brand new again - Fantastic Job
First class sharpening and turnaround…
First class sharpening and turnaround service. Just two things - delivery was promised between 11:07 - 12:07 by DpD. Finally arrived at 21:23 and just left on doorstep. In this day and age it is crazy to leave super sharp knives where anyone could have picked up the package. I'm sure Blade & Butler would agree.

What an amazing company
What an amazing company! Swift, professional service and Customer Service is outstanding! In particular, Chris guided me very patiently through the maze of buying a new set of knives! What a star!
I would recommend this company unreservedly. Thank you.
Decent sharpening but not up to Global standards
I recently sent a set of three knives (2 Global) to Blade and Butler for sharpening. While the edges did come back sharp enough to slice a tomato with ease, the overall finish was only average. I expected some metal reduction to grind out the chips, but the final edge just didn’t match the sharpness or precision of Global’s original factory settings, which was what I had hoped for.
What surprised me most was how much the flat, non-cutting side of the blade had been ground down. The Global logos were noticeably buffed off, which I didn’t anticipate and would have preferred to avoid — especially on higher-value knives.
In fairness, the service did deliver what was described on paper, but considering the price and the unexpected level of material removed, I’d be hesitant to send in premium blades again.
Happened to you? I'll assist you in taking action.
I have no motive to be malicious, nor to leave an inaccurate review.
This company relies on presentation and marketing to project an image of aristocratic refinement — from the website styling and period-era music to the upper-class tone of voiceovers. The entire façade is designed to imply that sending them your knife is akin to entrusting it to a high-end atelier. Men in velvet coats and knee-high stockings from a bygone era would apparently be manning the wheels. The attempt at grandeur is transparent.
What matters is the work — and the work carried out on my knife was catastrophic.
I sent them a £720 James Brand, Barnes with only minor attention required. What I received back was a knife that has been ruined. Before my stroke I sharpened my knives myself, and even using powered wheels it takes a breathtaking level of carelessness or inexperience to inflict this degree of damage.
Here is what they returned to me:
The original factory bevel has been destroyed. It has been replaced with a widened, uneven, inconsistent grind bearing no resemblance to the knife’s intended geometry. This is not “within tolerance”; it is an unrequested reprofile.
Part of the thumb stud has been ground away. That cannot happen unless the blade was positioned incorrectly on the wheel.
Coating has been stripped well above the bevel. This is not sharpening — it’s uncontrolled material removal. Their selective photography avoids showing the worst of it.
The tip geometry has been altered, again something no “tolerance” excuses.
The scales have been damaged, which their reply conveniently avoids by displaying only the least affected side.
Far too much steel has been removed, a point repeatedly raised by other reviewers.
None of these are subjective. They are clear, physical defects.
Their response leans heavily on the idea that customers must read obscure pages on their website. To be absolutely clear: no website content or disclaimer overrides the Consumer Rights Act 2015. A trader must apply reasonable care and skill. The condition of my knife proves beyond doubt that this did not happen.
Instead of taking responsibility for destroying the property of customers who trusted them, they respond with jargon, caveats, and attempts to wrong-foot people who are simply trying to get their belongings returned in the condition promised. It is disgraceful.
They have chosen the wrong consumer to treat like this. I am fully prepared to take this to the small claims court, and I hope it prevents others from being subjected to similar treatment.
If this review is challenged or undermined, I will provide the photographs so prospective customers can judge for themselves.
Wüsthof knives
Used them twice for Wüsthof knives that hadn't been professionally sharpened in 25 years. The process was clear and easy and the results excellent. 2 knives were serrated and were also very well sharpened. I was particularly impressed with an old cook's knife that had been sharpened to the point of the blade being a concave scythe- like shape. The knife was reprofiled and is useful again. Highly recommend.
As a chef
As a chef, I’m extremely protective of my knives, so it took a lot for me to trust anyone enough to send them away. I’m so glad I did. From start to finish, the process with Blade & Butler was smooth and professional. The customer service was excellent, and the results speak for themselves — my knives came back feeling like the very first day I unboxed them. Razor sharp, perfectly balanced, and ready for service again. I’ll definitely continue using them and highly recommend Blade & Butler to anyone serious about their blades.
Thank you!

VERY IMPRESSIVE SERVICE
Very impressive service, fast and efficient. They totally revitalised my 40 year old chefs knives, including putting points on two that had broken tips. I wouldn't hesitate to use this service again.
Excellent job
What a fantastic service! I am very impressed with the quality of the sharpening of my Global Knives - they are as good as new! And to think I have put up with them for so long and often resort to buying the odd new knife when I became frustrated with the bluntness. I too did the tomato test to try the knives - they passed the test with flying colours. I would definitely recommend Blade and Butler to my friends and family and anyone else. It is worth getting them to sharpen your knives. And the cost is reasonable too for what you get. Good job. I am a happy customer.
Packaging great
Packaging great. Turnaround very quick. Return courier very slow.

A very fast turnaround
A very fast turnaround, incredibly straightforward and easy to use. Our knives came back incredibly sharp. What more can you ask for?
Knives ruined
Knives ruined,
Knives I had used for atleast five years are now unusable and I have thrown away.
Unacceptable
Great workmanship, Fast easy to use service
Took advantage of an offer to get my Kasumi serrated bread knife and two Japanese Knife Company Artisan knives sharpened. It’s the first time I’ve used a professional service. All knives are probably 20 years old and have only ever had my embarrassing attempts at sharpening.
The whole process was easy to follow. They send you a sturdy box with knife sleeves. You pop them in, seal the box send them back. The Kasumi came back as sharp as the day I bought it. The Japanese Knife Company ones came back even sharper than the day I purchased them. I thought they may prove difficult to sharpen as I seem to recall they were made from high speed tool steel. But no worries they can easily slice straight through a single sheet of newspaper.
On top of this great service They also sent me a free bread knife which has become the Mrs’ favourite knife, so keeps her away from mine.
Thanks chaps you’re bloody stars.
I’d die a happy man if I could sharpen one knife as well as you guys
