Blacksacademy was introduced to us by a friend almost a year ago. Peter and his team are very patient when teaching and very diligent in their subject areas. Our child has become confident in Maths. We are also looking to have our child tutored in other subjects with Blacksacademy. I would definitely have no hesitation in recommending Peter’s tutoring services.

My twin sons have just completed their GCSEs Both attended Blacks Academy intensive Physics/Chemistry courses at Easter and continued to have tutoring during their revision period. One of the boys has Autism and ADHD and he has received intensive support over the past 3.5 months to help him cover missing skills, build confidence and help with revision strategy/exam technique/practice papers. He received support for English Lit&Lang Maths and Further Maths and Physics. Prior to finding Peter and Blacks Academy I was feeling very concerned after the mock results were not what either boy hoped for; Peter was able to quickly assess what was missing and needed and put in place a structured plan to enable my sons to achieve their potential. My son with AuDHD struggles with relationships but Peter and his tutor team were able to adjust and make connections with him and he enjoyed his sessions and was proud of what he was achieving.
I found Peter very informative and approachable and would encourage anyone considering tutoring for their child to contact him and have the initial discussions. My only regret is that we only found Blacks in February.

Peter has been tutoring both of my children who are year 8 and year 10. They have both progressed in ability and confidence with maths and are in top sets at school now. My year 10 child has shown particularly dramatic improvements over the last 2 years. Peter and his tutors are extremely professional and reliable and my children look forward to their sessions (twice weekly). We were recommended to Peter at Blacksacademy by a friend whose kids also use his service. Peter has been teaching our daughter, who has struggled with maths for years and was diagnosed with dyscalculia. Despite trying many different tutors, none were able to support her the way Peter does.

Before working with Peter, our daughter was insecure and didn't trust herself with maths. Peter has significantly boosted her confidence, and we have noticed her insecurities fading. The quality of service provided by Peter is excellent. He is exceptionally skilled at engaging our daughter, turning lessons into fun and interactive sessions using games while still providing excellent guidance and results.

What impressed us the most was Peter's structured approach. He knows exactly where the child stands and how to help them achieve better results than we ever expected. Our customer experience with Peter has been very professional and seamless. We encountered no challenges, and if we ever needed to change dates, Peter was always accommodating.

I would highly recommend Peter, especially for kids who have been told they can't do maths (and their parents). Peter has a remarkable way of changing this narrative and teaching them differently.

Overall, Peter has provided an outstanding tutoring experience, and we couldn't be happier with the progress our daughter has made.

Peter is an experienced tutor, who works with awareness of neurodivergence giving a supportive, fun and productive learning environment. He transforms dull topics into engaging adventures, integrating games that captivate and educate simultaneously. Lessons are tailored to my child taking into account energy levels and interests, which means we look forward to this time each week.

The programme Peter's has developed, with his wealth of knowledge and experience, is brimming with interactive slides and cumulative questions. What he offers is more than tutoring, it is a positive educational experience that recognises and celebrates individuality, making math enjoyable and accessible for every child. This is what learning should be!

Peter is massively insightful into the learning process and is able to identify exactly where a child's learning is up to and then develop particular studies and exercises to suit their next steps. This has been really helpful when my daughter had a mental block with reading comprehension and he has been able to identify where exactly to start and develop her confidence from this point onwards. It has resulted in an almost immediate uptick in her grades.

Peter has supported my 12 year old with his maths learning since January, with two 1-2-1 online sessions a week. Whilst he has been assessed as very bright my son also has dyslexia, dyscalculia and dyspraxia diagnoses and struggles to learn in a school environment. In particular, he finds concentrating difficult and has slow processing capability. Peter has adapted his programme to suit my son and his needs accordingly and his progress has been significant. He has managed to move to the upper stream for Maths at school and says he finds the subject matter easier since starting Peter's sessions. Crucially, he has now filled in the primary school learning gaps that he had as a result of Covid and general disengagement and now has a more solid foundation to build on going forward.

In particularly stressful periods at school Peter has been flexible and patient, adapting the content of the sessions to keep my son engaged and work on different parts of the bran (eg visual maths and puzzles). I am delighted to have found Peter to support my son and can see massive progress in both his maths learning and general confidence and self-esteem around what he can achieve. Thank you Peter!

Black's Academy have taught my dyslexic son, in 15 hours, more than he learnt in an entire year of sitting in a classroom at school.

We were moving him from a specialist dyslexia school back into mainstream, and I was keen that he should not end up in the bottom set for maths at his new school. Blacks were able to tell me, using their system, exactly how far behind he was and to give me an idea of how much material there was to cover to get him up to speed.

What I didn't expect was the rapidity of progress that my child made when he was taught by Peter. Because the assessment drills down into precisely which areas need the most work, the lessons are targeted and progress is swift. It is also painless. From the first lesson, my son enjoyed his classes with Peter and his confidence grew as he saw his own progress. He described it as "the ultimate life-hacking system for maths". Suddenly, what had felt impossible was unlocked for him, and it became simple.

In my son's first week at the new school, he received a Head's commendation for "Exceeding all expectations in mathematics". In fact, he had moved so far from the level that the new school had anticipated from his admissions test that they re-tested his IQ, as they felt they must have underestimated him.

My son came home this evening and announced that he had been placed in the top set for maths. It is beyond all of my expectations for him.

I cannot recommend Black's Academy highly enough. As a parent of a child with SEN, it can feel like nothing you try really works. Some of the interventions can also be quite painful for a child who is already exhausted from school. The lessons from Blacks Academy have given my child his first experience of real academic success, and he has enjoyed not just the results but also the process.

We had the wonderful opportunity of attending maths sessions with Blacks Academy for my daughter. Not only has her maths improved ten fold, her general attitude to learning across the board has changed in such a positive way!

Peter is an incredible teacher. My son has been having lessons with him for almost 2 years. When we started, my son was incredibly anxious about maths. He also had recently been diagnosed with dyslexia and dyscalculia and his self esteem was very low.
He found Peter to be reassuring, encouraging and confidence giving. Within a short amount of time he had gained a huge amount of confidence and would leave his lessons singing to himself! He always enjoys his lessons and has gone from having complete phobia around maths to being in the top set at school. He has also started English with Peter and he really enjoys these lessons. Peter has given him so much more confidence and if you are looking for an extremely competent and encouraging teacher, look no further. I cannot recommend him highly enough. Peter is not your average teacher. He is passionate about teaching and about the children progressing. Peter has given my son more options in life and I truly believe his work to be life changing for a child. My son doesn't go to a particularly good school but with Peter's help, I now feel confident that he will be able to do whatever he would like to do with his life.

Peter Fekete of Black’s Academy is a remarkable tutor in mathematics (and in the sciences, for that matter). Half way through GCSEs my son had completely lost his way and was headed for a fail in foundation maths. Peter’s patient and thorough “bottom up” methodology rapidly identified my son’s weaknesses and helped to build a coherent understanding of the fundamentals and beyond. My son rapidly gained understanding and confidence, and was able to achieve the maximum grade in GCSE foundation maths (which also contributed to a good grade in both GCSE and A-Level Computer Science, which require “mathematical” thinking). Peter’s friendly and entertaining style also made the lessons enjoyable for my son and helped to create a positive attitude towards mathematics. I cannot recommend Peter enough.

Our daughter was predicted an "E" in Physics and we were on the verge of giving up and changing subjects but you convinced us she had the ability to succeed. She has just been awarded an "A" grade at "A" Level and we could not have done it without you.

Peter from Black Academy is a truly gifted teacher. A true polymath, he is able to break down very complicated concepts and make them seem straightforward. His talents extend from literature to history, philosophy, mathematics and physics. He is absolutely exceptional, both as a person and a teacher.

I feel the tutor has realised my child’s personality traits quite quickly, and at times his wrong perception of his own capabilities was a barrier to his learning. Which is why his class teacher had recommended these tutorials initially.

Aswell as the maths tuition being excellent I feel the lessons ( although genetic) are taught in a way specific to his needs.

I have full confidence in the approach and I can see the improvement in my child’s maths and confidence.

I can email tutor with any concerns and I also get a weekly report.
I like the flexibility of being able to sit in and observe the lesson, or equally they happy for the lesson to be more independent.

I feel my child’s maths is more advanced than my own now and it’s so reassuring to know we have found a resource validated by his school aswell as one we are happy with.

Moving forward I feel we will be able to utilise this resource for years to come.

Teachers aim to give a date and time that suits our family and fits around other activities…. That can be tricky!

Initially I felt the hour session was maybe too long, but generally my child is coping with this time frame.

I would describe our experience with Peter at Blacks Academy as engaging, knowledgeable, supportive, enjoyable and extremely well planned.
My 12 year old who struggles with maths engages for the full hour at each online session with Peter and is learning at a significant rate. He really enjoys the lessons.
During his lessons, he has revisited many aspects which were clearly not entirely understood during Primary School and is now building on a much firmer foundation.
I would highly recommend giving Blacks Academy a go, you won’t be disappointed!

Peter is a patient and outstanding teacher, who teaches math clearly and rapidly.

Peter has been fantastic at helping my daughter catch up, restoring her confidence and giving her the mental arithmetic tools that she needs. My daughter looks forward to her sessions. Peter has been able to assess and discover the gaps in her knowledge and is able to adapt on the spot when another gap comes to light. He is very patient and thorough and I am now looking forward to seeing her develop into a confident mathematician. I would recommend parents to sign their children up with Peter if they’re struggling academically, whatever the reason may be.

The patience and attention given to my daughter whilst she was having her 1 to 1 tutoring was really impressive . She has grown in confidence with maths and no longer sees it as a negative thing to do. Her resilience is building day by day as a result of this tutoring.
