The owner Mergen hired me to do work…
The owner Mergen hired me to do work for him. He is extremely rude and unprofessional. Would not honor my business policy of custom items are not returnable and returned back custom made items after nearly 3 months after not picking them up from his bike shop. When I explained to him the policy he called me a ton of names. I corrected his poor grammar in response and he tried to say I was racist. Just crazy experience. Disrespectful towards women and foul mouthed. I would not recommend working for him.
Disgraceful, and suspicious.
It’s easy for me to lose my rag and give a very angry review. I will try to give a very level headed review as much as I can; however, I do not have a lot of good things to say, at all.
I booked a 3 hour bike ride for 8:30am a few days before. I arrived at the store and it wasn’t open. Straight away, I’m losing precious minutes on my bike ride that I paid for. The store opened about 8:45am for some reason. I walked in shortly after and approached the desk. The store was obstructed with items, you could barely get through the shop. I got to the desk with a man on the other side looking at me with a “what are you doing in my house” look, a face of a man that’s never seen a human in his life. I said I have an appointment for a bike rental, he look bewildered. He can’t believe a person walked into a bike store to ask… for a bike. He said show me where you booked it, I showed him the confirmation email. He confirmed to me that this is the right place and the email is legit. He checks his computer, asks for my name and ID. He then tells me there’s nothing on the system. Bare in mind I booked this through the official website and it is linked to the official central park website too. I knew where this was going, I then decided on the spot that I was just going to take a morning walk around central park. I asked him kindly for a refund if he wasn’t going to provide me the service I paid for. He refused and said no refunds. So I can’t have the bike and now I can’t have my money? He told me to contact the number in store. I said I’m from the UK, I can’t call US numbers. He did not care and was not willing to help me get in contact with the store owner/customer service. I can safely tell you that my reaction was not pleasant, at all. It didn’t help that he could barely speak a word of english. I understand that learning a 2nd language is difficult, but if you are next to the most famous park in the world and you are providing bikes for people in and english speaking city, you should be able to speak decent english. I left an email later that day and my hotel said I can call for free in my room. I called 5-7 times, no answer.
I’m writing this review over a month after the experience. I still haven’t received an answer from them. Luckily, my credit card company gave me back my money with no hesitation (shout-out to American Express). Judging from the other reviews, this is certainly a common occurrence.
I question wether they really rent out bikes and the store is used for other reasons that may not have anything to do with bikes. A very suspicious place. They need investigating from top to bottom. This cannot be allowed. I will be contacting some people in NYC about this establishment. Stay well clear of this place. You will not see your bike, nor your money.
LET DOWN BY BIKERENT.NYC
We had a New York holiday break booked for the end of January 2025, turned up to the pick up point having booked from the UK to find the hire shop shut at Central Park and no notices anywhere to let you know. We know it has snowed but the cycle roads were clear and bikes were using them, so no excuses. We've had no email contact from them either before or after and no responses when trying to get money back - we've now sent 5 emails and had no responses to any of them. Just silence! Very poor considering New York is such a friendly place and the customer always comes first. Clearly not the case with these guys! I'm still chasing a response but getting nowhere through either phone calls when in New York (no response) or emails to reservations email address. VERY POOR & UNPROFESSIONAL. We just want our money back as a legitimate refund due to their cancellation as per their services agreement but haven't had any contact yet. If anyone kows of any other contact other than the reservations email address.
Terrible experience
Terrible experience, not friendly staff and horrible bike not safe at all
This service should be closed!
Scam
Scam! They charged me twice because off a payment failure. They told me that they refund my money in two business days, still waiting 3 weeks later now and they don't answering my calls or emails...

Hugh mistake! Broken bike
Hugh mistake!! Broken bike!!
Had to walk for 3 hours in the sun!
The manager argued and blamed us without listening.. Ofcourse no refund!
Broken bikes but No refunds
I hired 5 bikes for my family. We walked up to the trail to find that my daughters bike had no working chain…I walked back and changed her bike. We then set off and found that my wife’s bike was skipping the gears. We decided we didn’t want to take the risk of a further problem so took the bikes back. We spoke to the local guy but some manager in the office refused to give a refund. Frankly this business doesn’t care about its customers so watch out!

Excellent service
Excellent service! Thorough and efficient! Bought a new Bike from them and had it shipped to New Orleans. Less than a week later I have my bike!!
Guided bike tour was an EXCELLENT experience!
I recently took my 10 yr old daughter to NYC, and we had a wonderful experience on a guided bike tour of Central Park. Our tour guide, Ross, was fantastic! He made sure we were comfortable with our bikes, showed my daughter how to switch the gears, and allowed us plenty of time to walk around the various landmarks. We received a wonderful overview of the park. It was the highlight of our trip, and we will absolutely be back!

Phillip was a great tour guide for 7 of us. Five were in our party, 2 adults and 3 teenagers. They exchanged 2 bikes for one tandem for two of us upon request. They supplied helmets and time to wander around at our leisure at each of the landmark stops. Great explanations too. The day was also perfect in the high 60's F bright and sunny (mid March) for fabulous pictures.
The scooter is awesome
The scooter is awesome, I love it. Great condition, shipped fast and packaged well. I recommend.

Used scooter purchase
They were very prompt and responsive. It was a little work to get tracking number with having to call a few different numbers, but everyone I dealt with was kind and helpful.

Huge mistake! Not a used bike an ABUSED bike.
This was a huge mistake. I ordered an “excellent condition” used bike and got an abused bike. There is rust and the derailleur is damaged and beat up! I wish I could post photos on here. I don’t think they could get $50 for this bike let alone $360. I am returning it immediately and requesting a refund.

Used bike purchase - Do Not Recommend
I ordered a bike online, which was marked as an excellent condition for 400$, but the bike I actually received was in beat-up condition, with lots of rust, scratches all over, dents, they didn't even bother to wipe down the bike. Don't recommend buying a bike from here.

Overall Just Ok
Customer service was decent (very prompt email responses but I had to reach out to get the tracking number). I was unhappily surprised by the condition of the bike -- it was listed as "excellent" but I'd describe it as "good" -- lots of scratches and dings on every surface, some rusting, some damage to wires, surface damage to gears, wear on the seat and so forth. I haven't bought a used bike before so maybe I'm just not familiar with the condition... but I'd describe this bike as having been treated roughly.

Received in less than a week out to the island of Nantucket. Box in good shape and the bike was fully assembled in about 25 minutes.

So pleased with this purchase!!
So pleased with this purchase!!! Bike arrived in 2 days in excellent condition. Called the shop before placing online order and they were very helpful and answered all my questions. Slight assembly required but was expecting that when I opted to have it shipped- basically just need to put the wheels, seat and handlebars on. Very happy with the overall experience. Bike is like new and my daughter is going to be super excited with her new wheels she will be getting for her birthday!! Highly recommend using this seller.
