We booked The Getaway through Cool Cabins. NO NOT BOOK WITH THEM. The photos were great. However, the place was a total DUMP. The photos or description do not tell you that the two bedrooms are upstairs and the bathroom is on the first floor. The steps are so steep I am surprised they could pass county inspection - they are dangerous. The heater was so loud we could not sleep. We called Cool Cabins and then texted with them many times trying to discuss. The handrails on the steps and the entry are loose. Cool Cabins definitely misrepresented this place - it is AWFUL!

We do want to clarify a few important points for accuracy. The listing description clearly outlines the layout under Rooms & Beds, stating 1 bedroom, 1 bath, with the upstairs first bedroom / split loft containing two double beds. This information is also reflected in the photos and written description, and we encourage all guests to review these details carefully prior to booking to ensure the home meets their needs.
Regarding safety, every short-term rental in the City of Big Bear Lake is required to pass a city inspection and maintain an active permit in order to be legally rented. This property has passed all required inspections, which is why it is approved for rental and remains permitted.
This home has been in our program for over 6 years, and during that time we have not received prior complaints regarding the stairs or beds, as the layout and features are clearly disclosed in the listing. That said, we do log and review all guest feedback and forward any reported concerns to the homeowner for review.
We regret that your experience was disappointing and that the cabin did not meet your expectations. Our goal is always transparency and guest satisfaction, and we appreciate the opportunity to clarify these points for future guests.

First time visiting Big Bear!
It was our first time visiting Big Bear and the cabin was an amazing experience! I liked how there was backyard space for my dog to be and there weren’t any issues during our vacation stay!

Our stay in general was excellent. Very clean, cozy, small but spacious cabin, it had everything we needed. Quiet neighborhood. We enjoyed the hot tub so much. Beds were very comfy. Check in and check out was super easy. Communication was excellent. I recommend Cool Cabins.

Mostly excellent
Cabin was excellent- well kept but was cleaned 1 minute to 4 and floors were wet when we entered so we had to wait to occupy. Also cigarette butts left in yard and debris, not ours, they took away from experience.

Painful Booking process but great stay
While the online and app driven processes are painful, repetitive and some didn’t work (including taking pictures of your CC), the folks in the office were very helpful in working thru it. The property was very nice and clean. We enjoyed our stay.

The cabin was nice
The cabin was nice. The only downside was that the first cabin we were placed in didn’t have Wi-Fi or a washing machine. Keep that in mind if it’s important to you. Later, they moved us to another cabin. It was also cozy and pleasant, but the heating didn’t work well, and we had to turn on space heaters in every room because it was very cold outside. Other than that, the location was great: there’s a lake nearby, it’s nice to walk around, quiet, and peaceful. Overall, it was a very pleasant place.

Disappointed
We were really excited for this stay, but a few things made the experience disappointing. The cabin wasn’t properly cleaned — there was animal hair throughout, and we dealt with allergies the entire trip. The hot tub was also left at 20 degrees, so it couldn’t be used the whole first night, which was one of the main reasons we booked this place. On top of that, the beds were extremely uncomfortable. Overall, the location was nice, but the basics definitely fell short.
