Hour long wait to get through security - worthy of a third world country if anywhere! If travelling with children then avoid this airport! Should have gone by car…
Absolutely shocking
If I could minus stars then I would. This was my first and now last trip via this airport. The staff are awful, the signs are awful, and the toilets are awful. Rude, unhelpful, and appear to deliberately go slow on security and passport checks. It's as if they want to hold everyone up which resulted in many people missing the only flight home. No other airport I've experienced is this bad. They really need to get a grip of these issues, maybe then their review rating would improve. Very much 'all the gear with no idea' and seemingly not one of them cares either way.
This is the worst German airport l have…
This is the worst German airport l have used. Signs for terminal 2 are hard to see. Seats are broken in waiting lounges. Very few toilets yet this is a main city airport.
Stressful experience
To whom it may concern
I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with the check-in experience at your airport which was not only unacceptable but also deeply distressing for my family.
We were traveling with two small children aged 2 and 4 and were unfortunately the last in line at the security checkpoint. A staff member allowed another passenger in a wheelchair to move ahead of us which we fully understand and support. However what followed was a complete failure in managing families with young children.
We were forced to wait nearly 50 minutes in line. During this time my 4-year-old child was required to perform a full split (spagat) in order to be scanned by the machine—an entirely inappropriate and physically demanding position for such a young child. Even more alarming was the treatment of my 2-year-old child who was subjected to a full-body search by a male staff member as if he were an adult. When I rightfully expressed my concern and pointed out that this was a small child the staff member responded by aggressively stepping towards me and waving his hands in a threatening manner.
To make matters worse our backpack was then subjected to an additional 15-minute search without any explanation. This entire ordeal was deeply stressful and traumatic for our children and it is utterly shameful that young travelers are subjected to such treatment.
Airports should have procedures in place to handle families with young children with care and respect. Based on this experience I can say with certainty that we will never travel from this airport again
Disguising treatment at disabled person
I was on flight FR1148 from Berlin to Sofia at 15. Mar 2025 - 06:00h. I was exposed on a humiliating search (I am a wheelchair person). The woman who searched made me stand to research my seat, but I couldn't use my legs. I hoped cameras catch this extremely unpleasant situation. The woman shouted at me all the time. A few times, I said I did not speak German, and she continued to shout and humiliate me, I was put in a wheelchair with such rudeness and disrespect. This person ruined my first visit to Germany.
I want to add something to my previous letter. I had the same check-in at Sofia Airport. A gentleman made a rub from every part of the wheelchair, with very big attention to not touch any part of my body, he asked permission to take rub from my jeans and my hands. He took a rub from my seat also, without making me stand or removing me from a wheelchair. The actual check was in a private room, where two women had researched me with very much care. And nobody humiliated me, they were very caring from the start to my settlement on the flight. Despite this in Berlin some woman, probably passed a course in some structure from the past, humiliated me in public, shouting at me and making me feel like I was a criminal or a terrorist, she behaved to me as if I was not human, that's so humiliating and nobody there didn't come to translate or tell me that it is routine. Please look at the camera and how many people were witnesses to this disgusting situation.
Impolite passport check employees
On March 15 about 17.00 o'clock we got to the passport check ,at the left side of the windows sat an employee with a terrible frown on his face.he kept giving us instructions using his hand. He didn't utter a word then he insisted that I leave my son und threw me out of the gate waving his hand. I can't understand such a behavior even if he were speechless and deaf.
This is totally unprofessional and unacceptable.
40 minute passport queue
You build a smart new airport with 12 passport desks, put staff in just four of them and force passengers to wait in a 40 minute queue? Rubbish service. I thought Germany was better than this.
The dutyfree in Trmerminal 2 horrible
The dutyfree in Trmerminal 2 horrible, give discount but dont apply under 20€ and this rule is not writet anywhere! So next time calculate in real price is on the bottles or some other thing👎
Horrible experience security control
Horrible experience. Living in Berlin and taking over 80 flights a year, I know what I talk about.
Horrible security controls, they are overly checking everything, making people losing a lot of time and generally for nothing; on top of that they have no flexibility whatsoever.
One brings something that doesn't fit their standard? No forgiveness.
Perfumes are big but within the amount of ml allowed? Thrown away because the little plastic bag doesn't close fully, and let's call the police just because you asked kindly if they could just allow it since it's an extremely expensive perfume and it's just slightly bigger in size but not in amount of liquid.
I only have anger and disgust for people with such limited mind and feelings. They bring nothing to the world. And they just constantly rely on their "we just follow the rules" right. With no humanity And with blind and soul-less behaviour. Germans, you need to change the way you behave and feel. You make everybody sad, angry and for what? Just so you can feel efficient? You are there to serve the rules but also to act as human beings and provide service and help, not just to punish people for every single thing that doesn't perfectly fit the rules.
Terrible queues at passport control
Terrible queues at passport control. Poor staff.
Had to wait for an hour for luggage
Had to wait for an hour for luggage. There’s no other flight arrival. What the hell us going on?
Sick and tired of standing in the passport queue.
Sick and tired of standing in the passport control queue with just one or two booths open. Happened flying in and now departing. Have to allow at least an hour for this - why??? Management need to get a grip of this situation and liaise with the Grenz Polizei to have more officers on duty at busy periods.
Terrible experience in terminal 2
Terrible experience in terminal 2. Had to wait at passport control for 40 minutes before getting to the gates despite there only being about 50 people in the queue. Following this were charged €60 for a bag that “didn’t fit” despite them only having a guideline chart and not an actual tray to squeeze the bag into. This is a bag I have travelled with several times with no issues and it always fits in the size trays. Very poor customer service.
The worst service you will ever find.

Literally the most outrageous travel…
Literally the most outrageous travel experience of my life. My mom got bullied by an employee, verbally abused and charged extra 60€ for the bag. Out of 200 people he picked on us, supposedly profiling us based on our nationality. Since he started being aggressive and arrogant right after seeing her passport while boarding. We’ve been traveling all day since early morning and Berlin Brandenburg was our last stop before taking the ultimate flight home. Same airline, same backpack (it fit perfectly in the baggage sizer), only different airport. And eventually charged for nothing. This guy had an attitude as if he worked in the Buckingahm Palace or sth. Kept saying: “I don’t care about other airports and their policies, it’s Berlin airport now”. Thinking back on it, now it seems a little funny how proud he was saying it…
AVOID!!! Terrible experience at SWISSPORT BERLIN BRANDENBURG AIRPORT
I strongly encourage no one to pay for services provided by Swissport or EasyJet, who have chosen Swissport to represent them at Berlin Brandenburg Airport.
I was targeted alone, separated from my partner, and forced to pay for another passenger’s baggage fine when I had no connection to them. When I refused, the staff member became aggressive and then turned on my partner, charging him for a bag that had already been cleared. We were humiliated and wrongly fined.
I suspect that the way my partner was treated was racially motivated, and after filing formal complaints with Swissport, we received no refund or apology. The customer service is terrible, and the staff at Berlin Brandenburg Airport are aggressive, intimidating, and treat people like criminals for no reason.
Please avoid this company at all costs.
Security staff very rude
Security staff very rude. There is a miss communication between the signage at the security check carasol and what tje security staff ask you to do.
When getting patted down by security staff, the woman pinched me with force my arm as she turned me around as if I was a piece of meat. It was 05:30am and not very busy there was no need for the over zealosness of security staff.
My coat got pushed put to be checked. After going through all my pockets, and bag, nothing was found, so the items were put back through the scanner, they found nothing but treated me like it was my fault that they had been inconvienienced with the search.
Security staff get over yourself!
Horrible and rude staff at the boarding gate!
Our flight was very late, do maybe this is why security checks and passport control wasn't bad, bit the experience everyone had at the gate was bismal.
The ladies at the gate were checking every non priority person and how big they're bag/backpack was and made them put it in the measuring stand to make sure. So many people were charged €60 because of millimetres over the border of the measurement. The women then proceeded to take ages to deal with the payments and you could see in their faces they enjoyed what they were doing.
One girl who was struggling to get internet on her phone to get a share code was told she's not flying without one. No empathy, no help offered until my boyfriend offered to iso his hotspot.
The priory boarding was just people separated by a line slightly closer to the exit door, because the flight was delayed anyways and noone could start boarding.
We have never had such a horrible experience because of staff in any of the airports we've been to and I could only wish I read these reviews before buying tickets. The rudeness really spoiled the last day of the trip when we were already tired and this actually made me want to go home so bad.
Also as an airport, specifically T2 - not many options for food, very small, not many outlets for charging your phone, unless you want to use their charging stations which have very limited access, because of their placement and since it's not your charger, it takes ages to charge your phone.
Amazing staff
I know that many people have had poor experience but I have to say I had a brilliant experience with the staff in the airport.
Our easyJet flight was cancelled from Berlin to Egypt while we were on the flight to Berlin from Edinburgh. So we arrived quite stressed and had to buy another flight. The woman on the Air Cairo desk was absolutely amazing especially as we didn't show up on the system right up to the flight about to leave. We had to rush through the airport and the security were brilliant they let us go first. All the people in the passport queue let us go first because the staff allowed us. Everyone was really helpful and kind.
I couldn't fault the staff they were thoughtful, helpful and we managed to get on the flight because of them.
The airport isn't a great design but the people make it easy to use.
Shocking delays at passport control…
Shocking delays at passport control following arrival on 29 December. One and half hours and open desks reduced to one. Excellent when leaving on 2 January.
