Avoid this Optician/Optometrist
This is located in Witham, Essex, I would advise others to avoid this optician based on my experience.
I booked an appointment to have my pupillary distance measured for two pairs of glasses. When I made the appointment, I specifically explained that I would be bringing two pairs of glasses, and I was told the total charge would be £25. As pupillary distance is a measurement of the eyes, it does not change between pairs of glasses, so this seemed entirely reasonable.
When I arrived for my appointment, the lady who was due to carry out the measurement was very cold and abrupt. Her attitude, body language and manner were unfriendly from the outset. She then informed me that she would charge me double because I had brought two pairs of glasses. I politely explained that I had already confirmed this when booking the appointment and had been quoted £25 for both pairs. I also pointed out that pupillary distance is the same regardless of how many pairs of glasses a person owns.
Rather than listening or trying to resolve the misunderstanding, she remained abrupt and simply refused to carry out the measurement. I had travelled from another town specifically for this appointment, so my time and journey were completely wasted. There was no attempt to apologise or find a reasonable solution.
The customer service was extremely poor. The practice was also looking rather shabby and did not appear particularly clean or welcoming. The premises appear to be associated with Belson & Son Opticians, although the external signage simply says "Optometry", so I am unsure whether this lady owns the practice or works for Belson & Son. If she is an employee, I believe her attitude, communication skills and customer service should be reviewed, as they fell well below the standard I would expect from a healthcare professional.
Unfortunately, based on this experience, I would not recommend this practice.
