Update on log cabin purchase.
Bought a log cabin in Summer 2013, which we assembled ourselves after BeaverlogCabin staff had prepared the base ( to be recommended , so as to get a good base).
Bought the 40 mm thick wall version since the cabin would be used all year round.
Finally found a good paint for the outside - Sadolin Classic followed by Sadolin Extra.
Found that heating the cabin in cold weather needed 3 KW heater and the floor still tended to be cold ( even though we had the supplied 40 mm thick underfloor insulation).
Eventually we now have a good solution - extra insulation (50mm thick Kingspan type sheets) on the outside of three of the outside walls then extra outside cladding on top of that and now underfloor electric heating - works a treat !
(Would have been better to fit the insulation sheets inside and then re-clad inside at the beginning).
In colder weather an initial boost of heat from a hot air blower is still needed but the underfloor heating solution is very effective at maintaining an even temp. Cost effectively.
Log cabins are great !
