Looking at 118 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many active customers struggle with extremely long waiting times on the phone and find customer support representatives completely unhelpful when trying to resolve issues. Consumers also mention persistent difficulties with payments, sudden card blocks, and lengthy delays when attempting to transfer money or access their personal accounts. Some reviewers were happy with the helpful and friendly staff members they encountered during face to face visits at local branches. Outsourced Customer Service is Disappointing

It's very sad that you cannot speak to an Irish person when you contact an Irish Bank. To have communications fully outsourced is sad to the Irish economy. I've called three times to complete a simple request; each time being told I would called back only to never hear from them again. Can we have customer service agents in Ireland who understand us?

Myles O'Grady has NO CLUE how to run a bank

Having workers in other countries is no problem as it saves costs. But when the cannot speak THE MOST BASIC of English, and repeat the same question over and over because they do not understand, then it reflects poorly on Myles O'Grady - so sir, pull up your socks.

Stuck in the 80s

Stuck in the 80s. Their app is primitive. Their business processes are worse. For example, was told three different things by three different people about opening another bank account with them. This is what a dominant position will do for innovation, zero.

The worst Bank Ever

I had applied for a car loan and it was rejected by the underwriter without giving any reasons. When, I tried to contact them to find out the reason firstly, I was not able to contact the deciding authority. So, whoever answered my calls, they were all like worse than robots, just reading the dialogue paper Infront of them. I didn't get a feeling that I was speaking to a human. They are useless. They are pretending like listening to me but actually not. Because, whatever I give my reasons, they gonna repeat the same thing over and over again. Before rejecting the loan, at least they could discuss with me and get more information that might enhance my application. No courtesy...to do so.

Incompetence and incoherence are the…

Incompetence and incoherence are the order of the day with BoI. They froze my debit card while abroad, did not receive email or SMS. Phoned up to find out what was going on: transpired the debit card department had a seven-years out-of-date mobile number still on file, even though I was using a different one for online and in-app banking. Obviously means someone could have accessed my accounts by using another number. Other howlers include misspelling my name on my card, and then spelling it correctly on my statements?! Requested a correction and, yes you guessed it, they just sent out a new card with the same spelling mistake. And this being Ireland they respond with thin-skinned snippiness rather than contrition when you complain...

Dumbed Down Software :(

What is it with Banks. They provide software to enable us to transact with our Money and then they deliberately DUMB it down so that it is useless. I cannot search for all my "plumber" payments because they will not let me have that simpleton functionality. Because of this - I have to pour through my statements - Its MY Account. Its MY payment - Why are you wasting MY and YOUR time.

You could save yourselves more than 50% of support calls if you just made the software more functional.

A very safe bank

I find BOI a very safe bank. Sometimes perhaps too safe. Last month I noticed a transaction for JustEat and I since was out of the country at the time so it was fraud. I rang the bank and they also flagged 3 other transactions and refunded my money. Great work and no stress. However, there are numerous times that I have had to ring the bank to allow transactions as my card is regularly blocked for day-to-day activity. Overall happy using them.

I used to be with BOI but I moved to…

I used to be with BOI but I moved to halifax and I’ve never been happier. A few years ago over £300 vanished from my account, I had bills due and spent hours on the phone only to be told I spent it and another said it was never there in the first place, each person with an attitude and calling me a liar. A few hours later I read in the paper of a glitch affecting most BOI customers with money vanishing. I called them again and was hung up on as soon as I mentioned the news story. The next day the money is magically back in my account and I phoned them up to demand an explanation and an apology and they claimed it was never missing in the first place. How can you trust a bank that lies to your face about your own money. Halifax is amazing, money transfers done so quickly and the balance updates almost right away, I cant believe that BOI are still allowed to operate at all when I compare the two. Father of my child is with BOI and I’m waiting for a transfer from his boi account, maybe BOI will send the money by carrier pigeon.

BOI reputational damage to Irish people, revoke license.

Banking license should be revoked. In the past 2 to 3 months I have spent up to 150 hours on the phone to back office India and Dublin. Routine legitimate transactions are being blocked for 'security reasons'. Even their own software people describe their Web site as rubbish as from the stone age. My trips aboard which are very frequent are now unworkable with BOI cards.

Fix upon fix of old software but not modernisation. Yes India, when I find myself explaining that Ireland is a country in Europe, you realise there is no management of any effective worth. I believe the state should revoke its Bank license as the use of the country name Ireland by the bank is causing reputational damage to the Irish people.

Very poor response to message query

Very poor response to message query, 2 + days is totally unreasonable and just shows a total disregard for customers. This says we can't be bothered we don't need to respect customers as we are too big and important to worry about what customers think of us.

Terrible service disrespectful to the customer

I am writing to express my extreme disappointment and frustration with the continued neglect of my simple request for bank statements. Despite multiple attempts to resolve this issue, BOI continues to demonstrate a shocking level of disregard for its customers.
My initial request for statements was submitted on October 4th. The promised turnaround time of 7-10 business days has long since passed. Instead of receiving the urgently needed statements, I received an unsolicited statement from October, which is completely irrelevant to my request.
This blatant disregard for my time and needs is unacceptable. It reflects a serious lack of attention to detail and organizational competence within your institution.
I demand immediate action to rectify this situation. I expect to receive the requested statements without further delay.
I trust that you will take this matter seriously and address my concerns promptly. I look forward to a speedy resolution.

Where do I start with this bank

Where do I start with this bank
Absolute joke.
Lost 6k of my money and took 8weeks to get it back when I opened a FX account tried to cancel card machine... impossible
Then they charge arrears in order to cancel after months of emails unanswered.
Bunch of pencil pushers watching the clock .they are the worst.
For business go to revolut .trust me they are the best choice and FX is the cheapest.
The sooner they close the better for everyone.

This Company breached Health & Safety…

This Company breached Health & Safety Regulations in the New Ireland Assurance Building and did not provide a safe working environment for its employees, This caused me catastrophic illness and the company continue to hide behind
Solicitors who continue to try and cover up for them. Not once did the current Managing Director Mr Myles O Grady or the past Managing Director Ms Franscesca McDonagh agree to meet me.
