There are other banks.

We banked with Sabadell for 11 years. In all that time they were never anything but rude, actively unhelpful and expensive. Why did we not change sooner? It's a difficult thing to get or change bank accounts in a foreign country and language. But finally the straw broke the camel's back and we are now with Deutsche bank Espana. Differences? The staff so far have been helpful and polite. There are no charges if we maintain a minimum balance and our balance will earn an interest rate. Three reasons why I am glad we walked across the street!

Just seen my review issued and saw that 92% of over 1,400 reviews are 1 star. Wow. I have NEVER seen such a consistent negative message in such numbers. If you have been smart enough to look for reviews before choosing your bank in Spain, take heed!

7 August further update - we went to close the account. I booked an appointment on line to do so. I owe them no money, we have a credit balance. Turns out they have a customer retention programme. It comprises being SO difficult, with SUCH a long list of potential problems that the customers are never able to actually close the account. Despite all this, I did close my account [I think!?] so let me share some advice: 1) when you book your appointment ensure you have a copy of the confirmation with you so they cannot deny it exists (which they tried to). 2) clear your balance to zero the working day before you go in; they tell you they cannot close your account otherwise (I transferred my remaining balance to my new bank account while in the branch and paid a fee to do so in real time so that I could meet this condition). 3) Take no notice when they say you cannot close the account because the cashier desk is closed - at 1pm, when there are 4 bank staff in the branch, it says open on the door and you have an appointment. What they mean is they don't WANT to close the account. But they CAN and did under sufficient pressure. 4) Ensure all account holders are present with passports (we anticipated this one). 5) Take all bank cards with you so they cannot say you have not returned them (also anticipated this). 6) When they tell you that you cannot speak to the manager (who by coincidence walked into the branch at the same time as you and was the focal point of a 10 minute conversation among the staff while ignoring the only two customers in the branch), don't believe them when they say "he is on holiday" when you can see him sat in his office (in shorts and T-shirt yes, but who runs a business and won't talk to deeply unhappy customers if they are there?). 7) Be as rude and unhelpful as they are until they do what you need as it appears to be the only language they understand. 8) Ask them to confirm there will be no further charges and record this on your phone. 9) Ensure you are given a copy of the cancellation document that you signed.

Very sad, indeed astounding in many ways, but this is my genuine personal experience. 1 star is generous.

Their system has stopped me making…

Their system has stopped me making transfers out of my account and they now tell me (after 8 calls) that I have to wait 7-14 days for their technical team to look at the problem!!! The purpose of a bank is to keep your money safe and give it back when you want it - absolute failure!!! If I could I’d give 0 stars.

Worst customer service ever

Worst customer service ever!
They have confirmed that they have blocked an automatic transfer. This was not done correctly so the transfer was still done. Then I had to call again to cancel it, they have told me that only the office that I have opened the account can do it and they have sent an email to them URGENTLY to recover the transfer back (even if I had to pay for the service 25 euros .. for their mistake) and to not worried because in 24h tops this money will be back on my account. Of course, the 2nd time nothing was done. I have called this morning and they told me they will call me back immediately once they have this reviewed. No one called back of course. I called again (4th person) where I had to repeat myself the 1000 time about the same issue, not only he did not help, he requested a refund to the person (THIS was not requested and not wanted) so I told him to cancel this request because this is not what I wanted and he hung up on me. I called again and an additional person replied telling me that they will speak with the other operator, but they cannot confirm the cancellation for this request as I have to call back.
So this is my 4th time on the phone just today, plus yesterday's call all due to NO ONE DOING THEIR JOB PROPERLY.
The worst part is that Raquel (the operator from yesterday) told me that we are all human and we all do mistakes.. This is her reaction to the fact that the things were not done properly. Anyways, here I am still on the phone trying to get my money back still.
The recordings of these calls needs to be listen for the management to see which is the reality of their operators: disrespectful, incompetent and liars.

no.1 Worst customer service in the world!

I know customer service in most banks isn't great these days, but Sabadell have reached all new levels of terrible for me. Most unresponsive customer service I have ever come across. A new low!

Since I had the audacity to complain, they suspended my account meaning I couldn't deposit or withdraw and have now closed my account with them. Thankfully they then allowed me to move my money to a decent online bank instead.

All the online banks actually pay you interest as opposed to charging you 40 euros every 3 months for the privilege of 'looking after' your money for you...

Sabadell, you are a disgrace to modern banking in so many ways, I simply can't list them all here.

The worse bank in the world.

This is the worst bank in the world!
They do not know how to communicate with customers. There are no communication means with customers . They just send threatening emails which you can’t reply to. They used to have an email to get help. Now they cancelled it. Customers just receive threatening emails dictating people what to do on the website. Sometimes the website doesn’t work. People struggle to handle the instructions. They just sent me a threatening email while I am ill in hospital!🤦‍♀️
Either I do the update on the website or else …😳

I just want to let the AGGRESSIVE SOL BANK CASHIER. management of…

I just want to let the management of Sol Bank in Los Boliches know that the service at the bank has deteriorated since the kind and friendly Scandinavian staff have been replaced by local staff. Last year l went in the bank to deposit a 7,000 Euro cheque into my account but the Spanish lady cashier refused to take my check because she hadn't seen me in the bank before. I explained that we have tele banking and l have no reason to come to the bank. She was rude and refused to look at my debt card. I complained to the manager but he also refused to accept my cheque and look at my debit card. I was very disappointed and had to use my account in a Spanish bank to clear the cheque. Because of this cashier and the bank manager l advised my son and daughter to deal with Spanish bank and not Sol Bank. My son is a very famous rock guitarist who travels around the world with a famous rock band. My daughter is a famous radio and TV personality in the UK. Unfortunately, because of the attitude of one aggressive woman at the bank Sol Bank has lost not only both of my children's contributions as clients of Sol Bank but also many of their fans and friends in many countries. Name and address supplied of the author. Incedently, l am also the author of several books and novels. Perhaps because I was dressed in a T/shirt, shorts , baseball cap and trainers the lady must have mistaken me for a vagrant and not a retired 85 years old businessman. Cheers and all the best.

So far I've had a very good experience…

So far I've had a very good experience around Sabadell services. Yes the app might have some issues from time to time, but honestly: their promos are probably the less agressive out there, most of the products actually seem interesting and/or useful. And when it comes to customer service, well my card got stolen last week and without me knowing they made some serious purchases, I claimed them thinking it would be a hell to resolve, but in a week's time, as they reassured me, they managed to return all the money I had missed, and sent a new card right away. And honestly I'm really really happy with the service received and the way they managed it!

Very poor customer relationship management

I have been a customer since 2013 without any significant issues but .... the recent Know Your Customer requirements imposed by the new anti money laundering legislation has shut me out of my account for almost 3 months with the result that I could not manage my account as a non-resident. I have complained to their Ombudsman - see attached excerpts from my letter.

"..... Despite submitting proof of pension back in April, the Bank failed to accept my documentation and take the appropriate action in unblocking my account. As a result, all deposits to my account were rejected and the mortgage loan fell into arrears for a few months. This created a major problem for me with the Irish Pension Service who suspended my pension as it could not be paid to my bank account.
......
..... the behaviour of the Central Services Department of Sabadell Solbank was despicable and bordered on customer harassment. It merits investigation by your office which is the main reason why I am contacting you. I was getting 10-15 phone calls per day from 9am until 9pm Monday to Saturday. The calls were coming from different numbers in Valladolid. These incessant calls lasted a period of almost 3 months and became a major irritant. In the end, I had to stop answering their calls as the caller had no real service or advice to offer to me.
......

None of the persons calling could NOT tell me whether my account was blocked or unblocked, citing that they did not have access to that information. I retorted that if they did not have access to such information then they should not be calling me because they did not have a holistic overview of my account situation. They did not even mention that one of my loans was already paid off. They did not even have my correct passport details uploaded! All that the callers could say is that “your account is overdrawn and you need to rectify the problem immediately.” In effect, they behaved like programmed androids making robocalls to customers!"

Will not close account and leave me alone !!!

After selling my property in 2018, I paid off the mortgage with them and instructed them to close the account. I also instructed them to close it in 2022 when they contacted me again to say there was a debit on the account.
Now 2 years on they are calling daily and emailing saying I owe charges -
How do I get them to realise I owe nothing and will not be paying ??
Absolutely disgraceful behaviour from a large banking organisation.

Impossible to close account.

Impossible to close account.

I spent 6 months in 2017/2018 trying to close an account here which seems to not be closed yet a whole 7 years later. Instead they appear to be fabricating charges and accumulating flase debt against an account they failed to close on request.

Make it make sense.

Scammers.

Scammers.

Lived in Spain for about 2 years. Never once had access to their online bank even after several attempts at the office.
When trying to close the bank as I was moving abroad, they refused and proceeded in telling me to go to "my branch" - a branch that had closed down and didn't exist.
I received an e-mail adress which they said would help me close it.

I sent them several emails regarding closing. Never heard back from them. I emptied the account to 0€ and moved abroad - assuming everything was fine as I've done what I was informed to.

Now 8 years later they contact me through e-mail (how they found my newly created e-mail is a mystery) as well as phone (how they found me new phone number I have not connected to their services before is also a mystery).

They are telling me I have a debt since long.

So they are able to find my private contact details that are not listed online on any services and never has been used for their services.
But they are not able to find any proof of me attempting to close the account even though I have documented e-mails with plenty of info to their e-mail.

I will not pay a single dime to these scammers. Over my dead body.

93% cannot be wrong.

Absolutely diabolical!

Absolutely diabolical!! Their validation system does not work, try several times keep being asked to phone back. I’ve been into the branch in playa Blanca they say I have to phone - I just want to close the account, they have my passport, my DOB my phone number, my address, my email all the last transactions and they say they can validate me - what else do they need my inside leg measurement??? Horrendous service and offer no alternative solution to their broken validation system going around in circles!! Worst bank I have ever used!!!!

Sabadell credit card fraud

A month ago on a Monday I checked my balance on my Sabadell app. And my credit card and found that my credit card had zero balance and that € 4400 had been taken out within 20 Minutes in Viga on a Samsung device, I live near to Alicante. I called Sabadel Bank and had my card blocked. Next day I visited my local branch which gave me a detailed account that I had been defrauded, I contacted their fraud department and they sent me an email that my request for fraud is declined for the reason that my account had been used to transfer funds to apple pay which then had been transferred to Samsung Pay. The thief had used a Samsung device to cash out the €4400 at a casino in Viga! I am not registered with Apple Pay nor have a Samsung device!
Each time I contact their fraud department I get a simple reply that my claim is denied for the reasons given.
As instructed I made a police report and followed instructions as to make a claim which was sent registered to Sabadell fraud department and again received an email that it is declined. Interesting that my credit card contract has a limit of €3000. After talking with other banks and people that Sabadell normally respond by declining ALL claims with the same arrogant response! Has anybody had the same experience as me and have they actually been able to recover their funds?

To my surprise today 11/06 I found that the funds have been rebursed into my account without explanation!
