I really love my new sofa

I really love my new sofa, and all my guests too. Brodie is really great, he updates me from time to time to ensure that I get exactly what I want , and happy with it. The sofa is so comfortable, the best sofa I have own by far. It feels like floating on a cloud. Ross the delivery guy is so friendly. Highly recommended!

Avoid this business

I purchased the Coastal 2 Seater lounge from Banana Home in November 2025, expecting delivery within the advertised 8-10 week timeframe. It arrived approximately 15 weeks later, with no proactive communication about the delay. I had to repeatedly chase updates and was given inconsistent and unreliable delivery estimates throughout. The entire experience was defined by misrepresentation and poor handling: the delivery timeframe was significantly understated, invoicing was incorrect, the product supplied does not match the advertised specifications, and attempts to resolve the issue have been slow and obstructive.

On 20 February, I received a “final invoice”, which Banana Home states is typically issued around 10 days prior to delivery. I paid on that basis. Later that same day, I was told the lounge was still on a shipping container and would not arrive at their warehouse until March. Their explanation that invoices are generated automatically is unconvincing - particularly as the invoice had to be corrected to reflect the promotional price, indicating the order had been manually reviewed and its actual status known.

When the lounge finally arrived, it did not match what was advertised. It is labelled “Aspect Living,” not Banana Home. The length is approximately 151 cm rather than the advertised 168 cm - a 17 cm shortfall. Further, none of the listed dimensions appear to be accurate. I specifically chose this model so I could lie flat, which is not possible with the product delivered.

Although the colour matches, the fabric does not. It is rough, scratchy, and uncomfortable to the point that I cannot sit on it wearing shorts and making skin contact with the fabric. I have had to cover it with a blanket just to use it. It also has a strong, unpleasant musky odour.

Banana Home initially dismissed these issues as a “slight manufacturing variation” and offered a $150 refund on a purchase exceeding $1,600. Only after escalation did they acknowledge the size discrepancy and suggest the item may not even be the correct product.

Even then, resolution has been unnecessarily difficult. After formally rejecting the lounge and requesting a full refund and collection, two reasonable deadlines were missed. After failing again this week, I was asked if I would be willing to accept a 60% refund instead of the full remedy I am entitled to under consumer law. At the time of writing this review, I am still waiting for confirmation of a full refund and collection.

This experience raises serious concerns about the accuracy of representations at sale (delivery timeframes and specifications), whether goods supplied match their description, whether they are fit for purpose, and how consumer guarantees are handled when things go wrong.

Given the extent of these issues - and similar complaints from other customers regarding delays - I would strongly recommend avoiding this business.
