Bactera is a biomedical company based in Germany focused on the human gut microbiome. We currently provide high-resolution microbiome sequencing using shotgun metagenomics. Our test kit, Microbiome 360°, allows customers to collect a stool sample at home and send it to our laboratory for sequencing. The analysis covers microbial diversity, bacterial composition, and microbiome-based risk indicators related to conditions such as IBD, IBS, type 2 diabetes, PCOS, obesity, and depression and anxiety. We also analyze fungi and yeast, as well as antibiotic resistance genes. Where needed, we provide personalized dietary recommendations based on the individual microbiome profile. Results are presented in a structured, easy-to-understand report that translates complex sequencing data into meaningful insights about the gut ecosystem. Our approach focuses on education, prevention, and a better understanding of microbiome-related health factors. In parallel, we are developing next-generation microbiome-based therapies, including fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT), and are actively engaged in research on microbial and phage-based approaches to improve human health.
