Babs pulled out all the stops to help the Antiquities Dealers’ Association create a new website, guiding technophobes and the uninitiated with great understanding and patience, while making sure that we ended up with the best result. What proved especially valuable was her additional help and advice post-launch. Most publishers want to copy protect their content to retain value for their customers.

I initially used LockLizard for copy protection. However, to me as a start-up publisher, it was very expensive up front – both in fees and hosting charges – and I found among other things that it wouldn’t easily work with tablets and smartphones that more and more people use today for online access.

In fact too often I found that I was bypassing LockLizard to service my customers, which largely defeated the purpose of having it in the first place.

And when it emerged that that there were no refunds when I didn’t use LockLizard – which is a great business model for them if not for me – then it was the final straw.

There had to be a better way.

As a publisher I want my documents copy protected. But I also want my customers to be able to access my documents hassle-free on any device with any operating system. Was I too much of an idealist perhaps?

So I did a bit of research, including using People Per Hour, and fortunately found Babs Hobbs, a very clever website designer, who figured out a way of putting my documents on the cloud, where all my paying customers could then access them online using any device – pc, tablet or smartphone – on any operating system – and yet the documents were still fully protected against copying or printing – and all at a cost to me of only $15 per month.

Wow. Brilliant solution – and for me so much easier, cheaper and better than using LockLizard.

I’m not technical so I don’t understand how it’s done. But in achieving this, she demonstrated a level of technical ability that I just couldn’t find anywhere else. Very highly recommended.

When I first discovered Babs Hobbs through her blog post on Elegant themes, I know she would be the one to design a new website for me. I am now the proud owner of a stunning new website. During the process, Babs gave advice with clarity and professionalism and she tackled things that we asked her to develop with energy and success.
If you need someone to build your website and you choose Babs, expect 110% if not more. Know that she will advise clearly and pursue with energy, whilst always remaining professional. Expect too a friendly, warm and helpful voice in the digital wilderness. And apart from the stunning result, she is one of those honourable human beings who did everything she could to help. In case I didn’t mention, her knowledge is bang up to date.

I contacted Babs following advice that my site may require a wordpress update. As always she responded quickly to my request suggesting numerous options available. When I agreed to proceed with Babs carrying out the work, she was efficient and having quoted me based on the amount of time it would take to complete the job, she charged me less as it hadn't taken as long as she had anticipated which was a nice surprise!

I was in need of a new theme and look for my site. My old one had grown a bit dated and slow. I initially connected with Babs via Twitter. We quickly set up a Skype to discuss the further details and I was immediately impressed with Babs’ professionalism and level of knowledge. Most important, Babs let me play with the new theme in her staging area for as long as I wanted. This let me touch and feel the theme before deciding to pull the trigger. What’s more, I was able to “build” much of my site and then export pages and layouts. This was essential.

This project was collaborative in nature. I am no newbie to WordPress. As such, I was not looking for a traditional WordPress developer. Instead I was in search of someone who could make very specific design tweaks. Babs responded to all my queries quickly and efficiently, making changes to the code as needed. She promptly got back to me with theme issues and managed support tickets.

Overall Babs was honourable, honest, and very budget-conscious. She displayed a high level of knowledge and I recommend Babs sans reservation. I love my new site and have already seen an increase in traffic due to the its faster speed.
